Located right on the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta, Discovery Bay offers easy access to all sorts of water activities, including boating, fishing, and a wide range of water sports, along with a championship golf course. Campers can park their rig at an RV park along the Delta or pitch a tent along the Sacramento River at Brannan Island State Recreation Area. Mount Diablo State Park offers hiking and three campgrounds, while Morgan Territory Regional Preserve and Black Diamond Mines Regional Preserve offers hiking and backcountry camping. Head to the Dos Reis Regional Park for RV camping and weekend tent camping along the San Joaquin River or go swimming, fishing, and birdwatching, and camp near the Stanislaus River at Caswell Memorial State Park. For off-highway vehicle (OHV) thrills and tent and RV camping, head to the Carnegie State Vehicular Recreation Area near Tracy or the Frank Raines Regional Park near Modesto.
