Camp Ford Ranch in the Redwoods
While Stacy was very nice, the place is very hard to find and has minimal services. You are basically staying on their farm property which is down a very steep hill. We stayed on the edge of one of the hill corners. Again, while the view is pretty the services are very limited.

We didn’t have as great an experience as we would have liked. The directions were great getting to the top of the property, but when we got there we were worried about getting down (and mostly back up) the very steep gravel road down to the farm. After waiting for 45 minutes with no response (no service at the farm down below), we finally learned you don’t have to go back up the drive and can continue going down a different way back to the main road, which would have been nice to know up front. When we tried to leave that way the next morning, we didn’t have the gate code and had to drive around the gate, somewhat dangerous. Better instructions overall would have helped.
The farm itself is nice, but the campsites could have been better. The orchard campsite is not very flat and had lots of duck poop. There was a bigger site (taken) in the back that looked nice though.
It felt a little chaotic and rushed getting set up at the site, and for the amount we paid I would have expected a fire pit to be set up at each campsite and not have to drag cinder blocks ourselves to make it. Once there though, we had a great fire and enjoyed delicious sausages from the farm.

not private but kind host
Overall, we had a nice experience. Stacey was very accommodating and helpful. She did have 4 dogs that were off leash throughout the property and came to sit on our campsite regularly, just in case you were planning on bringing your pet. The dogs were friendly and sweet. The campsites were dispersed around Stacey’s property which included various buildings and a large barn in the middle of the property. She mentioned to us that we could basically pitch our campsite anywhere that had space for it.
The whole property had a nice view of the redwoods and the night sky, but there were two sites that had an exceptionally great view. The other sites were placed throughout the remaining area. One was inside of a goose pen with some shade and a bit of a view. Our site was off the side of a dirt road path around the back of the barn that had a great view on one side, but was very close to everything else. Stacey had the area leveled for us prior to us pitching our tent, so unless she had done that we would have had to pitch our tent elsewhere. The one toilet was accessible, and there was a shower. There was one picnic table that was pretty much only available to one site, which was next to ours. Stacey was a kind host and very personable.

Really enjoyed our stay with Stacey and Donald! They have a beautiful property in a great location (only 30 minutes from Mendocino and 45 from Fort Bragg), with plenty of amenities. You can even buy sausages from their cow to grill up at night.
With all that being said, I would say the best part about this experience was that they really made you feel like family while you were there. I really enjoyed the social interaction and homey environment that was set.

The location was BEAUTIFUL! Redwood trees all around and as my kiddo says- no light pollution so you can see all the stars! Stacey and her family were very warm and welcoming and offering to help with local hiking spots, anything they could do to help make our trip great. Would definitely recommend and stay there again if we are in the area.
