Brooksdale Valley Ranch

Brooksdale Valley Ranch was formally Valley Glen Farm founded and settled by my great grandfather William Trevor Burroughs in 1930. He was the first in the community to raise purebred Yorkshire pigs he had shipped over from England. My Grand Father was the first in the community to grow Canola formally called Rapeseed. My Father was raised here but with this quarter was deemed no water to be found my Farther had purchased another farm 7 miles east where I was raised. I always has a love for this place and had it in my mind to make this my home every since I was a little boy. You will also find historical country school on this quarter it was restored 30yrs ago. My father and his 2 sisters went to school here and I went to Sunday school here. Life has never been easy here but with the love of the land and its breath taking view makes it all worth while. The best camping near Loon Lake Provincial Park guide

Overview

About

Loon Lake Provincial Park is permanently closed. However, the lake itself remains accessible and is well-known as a fishing destination set in a steep valley between BC's Bonaparte Plateau to the north and west and the Arrowstone hills to the south and east on the larger Thompson Plateau. The deep, narrow, 14-kilometre Loon Lake is one of a few remaining naturally stocked lakes in the province, continually producing quality rainbow trout throughout spring, summer, and fall. Several lakeshore resorts offer camping and RV facilities, as well as cabins with easy access to the lake.

When to go

Loon Lake is busiest in July and August, during the warm summer months. Consider visiting during the fall months of September and October when the weather remains warm but the lake will be less crowded.

Know before you go

  • Loon Lake is located north of Cache Creek in the Gold Country of the Nicola Valley.
  • Bring your own boat or rent an aluminum boat from Evergreen Fishing Resort to access fishing on the lake.
  • Evergreen Fishing Resort has wifi, but cell phone service may be spotty.
