Forager Hill Farm on Hayward Lake

3 sites ¡ Lodging5 acres ¡ Mission, BC
Our 5 acre forested farm backs onto Hayward Lake and has the Stave River at the front of the property. Our farm has ducks, chickens, rabbits, and a collection of cats. There are wild berry bushes throughout the property and the surrounding forest. Lake access is private (people could hike in or canoe up, but normally we have it to ourselves) and the lake itself is a great spot for wildlife watching (beavers, deer, bats, fish, bears, owls, eagles, osprey etc.). The Stave River in the front of the property offers a more sunny spot for swimming and fishing. The Hayward Reservoir Trail circumnavigates the whole lake and the trail entrance is a 5 minute walk from the cabin. Guests can book our cabin and if you have additional bodies, add on our campsite ($30 a night) during the booking process. Both sites include picnic tables and outhouses. We provide fresh spring water and campfire wood can be supplied ($10 a bundle). The cabin is insulated and can be heated with the wood stove so it is suitable for use all year.

The best camping near Emory Creek Provincial Park guide

Overview

About

Nestled 18 km north of Hope on Hwy #1, Emory Creek Provincial Park beckons adventurers with its tranquil forested campsites and the melodious rush of the Fraser River. With 35 vehicle-accessible sites, including two double sites, this park offers a shaded retreat where campers can immerse themselves in nature without the need for reservations. Venture into the wilderness, enjoy a campfire under the stars, or explore the historic trails where gold miners once tread.

Notable campgrounds

  • Vehicle-accessible sites: Nestled in the trees, these 35 sites offer a shaded camping experience with the convenience of vehicle access.
  • Double sites: Ideal for larger groups or families, the park features 2 double sites for a more communal outdoor adventure.

Tips for snagging a campsite

  • Arrive early: With a first-come, first-served policy, arriving early increases your chances of securing a prime campsite.
  • Visit during off-peak times: Consider camping during weekdays or outside of the main operating season for better site availability.
  • Have a backup plan: In case the campground is full, research and be prepared to head to nearby camping options.
  • Check advisories: Always check the latest park advisories for updates on campsite availability and potential closures.

When to go

The best time to visit Emory Creek Provincial Park is during its main operating season from May 10 to October 20. The park's serene beauty can be fully appreciated in the warmer months, while the off-season may see facilities like water taps turned off, and the gate locked, limiting access.

Know before you go

  • Check for campfire bans or restrictions before lighting a fire, and always use the provided fire rings.
  • Be mindful of wildlife and practice safe camping habits, especially during the spring and summer run-off seasons.
  • Remember that pets must be on a leash at all times and are not allowed in beach areas or park buildings.
  • Prepare for limited services as the park is cooperatively managed and may offer different facilities than other BC Parks.
  • Respect the park's history and the ongoing reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples by staying informed and considerate.
