Escape to a colorful vintage camper set on its own private acre beneath wide-open Arizona skies. Located near Valle and Williams, this is the perfect base for exploring the Grand Canyon.🏜️ Private retreat on 5 acres of high desert country with stunning mountain views 🌌 Stargaze through the glass roof from the comfort of bed 🕑 Early check-in at 2pm (even earlier upon request) = more time to unwind 🧘 🐶 Pet-friendly with no pet fees 🧹 No cleaning fees 🌃 No city lights - just dark skies perfect for stargazing. 🤍 Peace, privacy, and an authentic off-grid camping experience Please read the entire description to make sure this is the right experience for you. Bring your own bedding and an adventurous spirit, The Moontrimmer awaits you! This is a no-frills, unique camping experience. The perfect place to unwind, unplug and stargaze from the comfort of bed. The Moontrimmer is set up on private land in a very safe and peaceful camping community near the Grand Canyon. There's a spacious outside picnic area and firepit with fantastic views of the San Francisco peaks. There is no light pollution out here, so you can see the milkyway most nights. Enjoy a HUGE skylight over the double bed and a mini skylight over the single bed for some of the best stargazing in the country! 🔒 Please note that the camper cannot be locked from the outside. There is an interior hook-and-latch for securing yourself inside. 🎒 What to Bring This is camping, not glamping. Please bring everything you'll need for a comfortable stay, this may include items such as: 💧 Water 🥘 Food & cooking supplies 🛏️ Pillows, blankets or sleeping bags 🧥 Warm clothing (nights get cold!) 🔦 Flashlight or headlamp 🏮 Lantern (optional) 🔋 Battery bank for charging devices (optional) 🔥 Firewood or charcoal 🪵 Propane (1 lb cylinders) for the heater if visiting in winter 🔥 Lighter or matches 🍽️ Plates, utensils & cookware 🧻 Toilet paper, paper towels & wet wipes 🧴 Sunscreen 🔑 Check-In Self check-in means you can arrive whenever suits you. All access details will be provided before your stay. 🚽 Composting Toilet A composting toilet is located in the outhouse behind the camper. Please bring your own toilet paper just in case - the desert wind has a habit of carrying ours away! 🗑️ Pack In, Pack Out This is a remote off-grid property with no garbage collection. Please take all rubbish, recycling, and empty propane cylinders home with you when you leave. 🔥 Heater (Winter) A Mr. Buddy propane heater is provided. Guests must supply their own 1 lb propane cylinders (Coleman propane is recommended and widely available in Flagstaff). • One cylinder lasts around 5½ hours. • Do not use butane or propane/butane mixes. • Propane heaters become difficult to start below 20°F (-7°C), so arrive before temperatures drop if possible. The heater is safe for overnight use, but the camper includes ventilation and we recommend cracking a window slightly. 💡 Electricity There is no electricity or Wi-Fi, but major phone services work great 🚰 Water There is no running water, so please bring everything you'll need. 🍳 Cooking A grill grate is available over the fire pit. Any additional cooking equipment should be brought with you. While previous guests sometimes leave supplies behind, we can't guarantee what's available. 🔥 Campfires Bring your own firewood and don't burn any trees on the property. Local gas stations usually sell bundles. 🐾 Pets Pets stay free! Please keep them off the furniture unless using your own blanket, and never leave them unattended inside the camper. 🦌 Wildlife You're staying in the Arizona wilderness, so wildlife sightings are possible, especially during summer. 🧹 Check-Out There is no cleaning fee. In return, we simply ask that you leave the camper clean and follow the check-out instructions in the House Rules. 🚙 Road Conditions The final 2 miles are unpaved desert roads. ☀️ Most of the Year Most cars (including sedans) make it just fine if driven slowly. We've even had plenty of Priuses visit! ⛈️ Monsoon Season (Mid-July–September) Heavy rain can create muddy sections and temporary flooding. Avoid driving during storms if you don't have AWD or 4WD. ❄️ Winter (December–March) Winter conditions can become challenging. Snow, mud, and freeze-thaw cycles often make 4WD highly recommended, especially in January and February. During significant snowfall you may need to park near the highway and walk approximately one mile. Always check the forecast before travelling and use your own judgment. ✨ Embrace the Experience This is a simple, off-grid camping experience surrounded by open desert. There are no crowds, no city lights, and very few modern distractions... just wide skies, campfires, unforgettable sunsets, incredible stargazing, and the chance to slow down for a while. If that sounds like your kind of getaway, we think you'll love it here.
