A ranch of nearly 100,000 acres jointly owned by Marion Clark and Croydon Cooley a U.S. army scout. According to legend, sometime around 1876, the partners decided that there was not enough room for both of them and one of them should leave. They decided to settle this issue over a game of "Seven Up" (with the winner taking the ranch and the loser leaving.) After the game seemed to have no winner in sight the game reached it's climax when Clark said, "If you can show low, you win." At this point Cooley turned up the deuce of clubs, and declared "Show Low" it is! Show Low is a city in Navajo County, Arizona among the lush green ponderosa pine forestland and along Arizona's Mogollon Rim at an elevation of 6,345 feet. Nevado Ranch Camp

1 site · Tent2 acres · Vernon, AZ
Welcome to Nevado Ranch Camping - the best White Mountains dark sky camping in the U.S. Southwest! So, you and your family or friends are most likely looking for a great location to pitch your tent(s) while exploring Arizona and New Mexico. Or, perhaps you are an ATV off-roader with your pride and joy in tow. In either case, you want a location that is "out there with the wildlife" and yet is secure from the critters. Feeling cozy in your camp while also having access to recreational amenities that make a stay so enjoyable is important to you. You also want a location where, at the end of a long day of hiking, biking and/or sightseeing, you can relax by a fire, listen to tunes, and enjoy your favorite beverage while looking up at a pitch black sky with stars as bright as diamonds. Our Value Proposition to You • Affordable rates • A location in the middle of the beautiful White Mountains wildlife - completely fenced off for your security • A level and cushy campsite with fire pit tucked in among the juniper trees • A crystal-clear sky for dark sky stargazing • A 15' x 20' recreation deck with fire pit, gas grill, music system and Adirondack chairs and recliners • A fully stocked, self-service kitchen to prepare your meals • An indoor relaxation area • A bathroom with hot water shower (cleaned and sterilized daily) • Close to twenty (20) national parks and monuments • Plenty of free, on-site parking • Active duty and veteran discounts • Veteran owned and operated The Camp Nevado Ranch Camp is 2.2 acres located smack dab in the middle of the Springerville “monogenetic” Volcanic Field (3rd largest in the U.S.) that consists of 405 discrete and dormant vents. The ground is relatively soft and perfect for a tent. We have plenty of free on-site parking. At an elevation of 6,993 feet, Nevado Ranch Camp, Apache County, AZ, is an easy day’s drive to dozens of popular tourist destinations in Arizona and New Mexico. In Portuguese, the word Nevado means “snowy.” The delicious city water we use is sourced from the never-gone-dry Coconino Aquafer. While we are completely off-the-grid, Nevado Ranch Camp is solar powered because we want to present as small a carbon footprint as possible. Changes in aLtitude, changes in aTtitude Given our elevation, there is no air pollution. It is roughly 20-25 degrees cooler fresher at the Camp than in the Phoenix or Tucson valleys. At Nevado Ranch Camp, the air is clear and crisp which makes for awesome stargazing - the Milky Way can easily be seen overhead. The Campsites At Nevado Ranch Camp, we offer 10 well-maintained, level campsites nestled among a forest of juniper trees. We have intentionally kept the number of campsites low so that our guests don't feel like they are part of a chaotic crowd. Each campsite has a 10’ x 10’ area for tent as well as additional space for chairs, bikes and other camping items. Deck lights provide a smidgeon of illumination at night. You can have your own private campfire as long as you use the locations provided AND when checking in, you prove to management that you have a working fire extinguisher on hand. You will be glad to know that the Camp is completely fenced off for your security. Our location is smack dab in the middle of the land inhabited by giant elk, coyotes, black bears, mule deer, antelope, foxes and mountain lions. The animals are usually active from dusk to dawn but don't be surprised if you hear these animals walking past your campsite on the road. The reason why they do so is because the series of roads and the vacant property next to us is the only unobstructed north/south passage for miles around - and the animals make use of it! The Hut The Hut is a converted barn (with hot and cold running water) that has a "serve yourself" kitchen for your use. There is a microwave, a three-burner stove, an air fryer and a George Forman grill, two refrigerators, and a blender. You bring your own K pods for the coffee maker, as well as your own sugar, creamer, etc. We provide the paper plates and bowls, plastic cutlery, drink cups, and napkins for your use - you bring your own food and beverages, seasonings, etc. The bathroom w/shower is cleaned and sterilized daily. Recreation Deck When you want to step away from the tent and lounge in the sun or moonlight, you will find a 15' x 20' asymmetrical Victorian stone deck outfitted with a gas grill, a music entertainment system, a lounge bed w/shade, an in-the-deck fire pit and a number of comfy Adirondack lounge chairs. Tiki torches and deck lights provide a subtle illumination at night. A badminton net is also used for volleyball and "tickle ball" (our version of pickleball). Bring your own paddles and other equipment. We keep the net down low so the young'uns can experience the thrill of spiking the ball! Indoor Relaxation Area You will like the indoor relaxation area that has a sofa, a recliner, a computer desk w/printer, wi-fi (no streaming, please!), and a tv. A shaded patio with sofa and chairs is just outside the front door. Live music If you’re a musician and/or a singer, bring your instruments and your melodic voice. The instruments we make available to guests include a Gibson Les Paul 100-year anniversary edition electric guitar, baritone and tenor ukeleles, a Brazilian mini Djembe drum, bongos, a harmonica, and a hand-carved Hawaiian tenor percussion block.

Tiny Town Arizona

12 sites · Lodging40 acres · Show Low, AZ
In November 2015 I visited my good friends Brad and Joya who had recently purchased  40 acres outside of Show Low, Arizona and moved to the property.  I instantly fell in love with the land.  The quiet open spaces,  the abundant junipers and the vistas looking up to the White Mountains of Arizona.  Fortunately there was forty acres for sale that I bought in the winter of 2016.  Since then my partners and I expanded by buying an adjacent 60 acres for a total of 100 acres.  I have always been interested in sustainable off-the-grid living.  Fortunately for that dream there were no services to the property so we started planning what we needed to live comfortably on the Land.  The moto Food, Water, Shelter came to me.  With that in mind our first purchase was a 28' by 40' green house, and then came our well.  Next we purchased a 600 sq. foot one bedroom manufactured home which we now use as our office and check in point.  For power we have a 8.5 kw solar system that gives power to the house. With the wide open spaces it is tranquil not having power lines on the property. We wanted to grow a cash crop that was consistent with our theme.  We found that one of the largest Lavender Farms in the country, Red Rock Lavender is 30 miles from us.  We arranged to buy Lavender from them, and in the Summer of 2017 planted over 4000 plants in the shape of two mandalas. Once the plants are mature we plan to produce our own line of Lavender products.  Our goal of having guests camp on our Land is to share our ideas of sustainable living and the abundant natural resources on and around our property.  We hope you visit and share our vision.Learn more about this land:Tiny Town Arizona is a 100-acre sustainable glamping resort overlooking the White Mountains located 20 miles outside of Show Low, AZ.  Campsites are nestled among abundant Junipers and rolling grassy hills.
