Old House on Fish River. You can kayak or swim from in front of the house here or launch a boat 1 mile away. Hot shower and toilet in house available 24/7. You can use the stove inside the house or bring your own grill for cooking. Gulf Shores Beach is about 35 minutes driving. There are nature trails a short drive away. We have a double kayak and a single kayak with life jackets. A stone/concrete ring for a small campfire can be setup as desired in a few minutes. No RV’s/ travel trailers allowed. Boat trailer or additional car for additional fee. The Old River House, originally built in 1957, is a humble home located on Fish River offering a budget-friendly option to travelers visiting Baldwin County, Alabama. Conveniently 1 mile from interstate hwy 98 down a quiet, paved road. Location is between the cities of Fairhope, AL and Foley, AL. To the south: Beautiful beaches of Gulf Shores, AL and Orange Beach, AL. To the north: Charming City of Fairhope, AL; Historic Blakey State Park Civil War site. To the east: Pensacola, FL beaches. You can put a tent in front by the river or in the back by your car, up to you. I have a tent and some different hammocks sometimes available. There is a shared toilet and shower inside the house for use 24/7. Laundry machines inside. One shelf of the refrigerator can be yours to use. There is a propane stove and some pots and pans to use. Big sink to wash dishes. Maximum stay 7 nights. No animals. 2 persons maximum at the property at this time. The Old River House endeavors to maintain a peaceful, calm, kind atmosphere and be a good neighbor. For this reason it is forbidden to act excessively loud or mean. If someone violates the peace, they and their companion(s) maybe required to leave. In this case, a partial refund will be issued for the unused portion of the stay. Let’s all be kind and respectful in our words and actions so that this can be avoided please. This applies to adults and children alike. For your safety please be aware of heavy boat traffic after 9am on weekends and holidays. It is strongly advised not to kayak during these times. Swimming near the dock is ok. Please wear a life jacket if not a strong swimmer. Wildlife commonly seen: blue herons, brown pelicans, ospreys, bottle nose dolphins, cardinals, seagulls. No feeding the wildlife please. Host will be available on-site to assist and answer questions.
