Whisper Creek was founded in 1999. It has been the gathering place for many great friends and camping adventures. WC can hardly be camping, more like Glamping! This is a very private and quiet location. You can settle in knowing that this listing includes a covered picnic area. Which has counter space for food prep and cooking that includes a small sink. But remember, it’s camping so you’ll need to come prepared with a camp stove for cooking, although I do have charcoal and propane grill’s at the picnic area. Fire pit for awesome evening camp fires with free split firewood on hand. All I ask is that you burn it like you split and stacked it. You can gather and relax under the covered picnic area for dinner preparation and/or lounging. We are located within an hour from Wintergreen, numerous wineries, craft beer locations and numerous hiking destinations. Harmony Hut has fresh linens but please bring sleeping bags and/or sheets for the screened in bunkhouse. River access to the James River is a short drive to Howardsville. There you will also find a General Store which offers you the basics, such as Beer, Wine, Ice and a few grocery items. They make the best homemade sandwiches and grilled burgers. Direct river access can be provided via special request. I can also provide shuttling services. But this needs to be mentioned well before your stay as I don't live up there year around.

Appalachian Trail and city park 5 minutes. Veterinarian 1 mile. Blue Ridge Parkway 15 minutes. Quiet people only please. No sewer, must self contain, though you can dump about 6 miles south at Gander, free to Good Sam members $5 others, or the honey wagon will come to you for extended stays. Terrain is hilly, 4wd recommended for back-in, but site is flat. I will help you if needed! NOTE: There is no turnaround up by my house. Historic Scottsville is just up the road where you can find restaurants, breweries, grocery stores if you need and more. Being in the Piedmont region, we also have quick access to multiple vineyards that make for a great day trip. There are opportunities to go swimming, hiking, kayaking, rafting, and visit wineries all within 20-60 miles of our property. There is really something for everyone to do!We're surrounded by working farms on all sides so, thankfully, the only noise is from a heard of sheep across the way, or some deer in the forest. It’s a truly peaceful outdoor getaway. As hosts, we typically greet our visitors at some point during their stay, though we are very happy to respect total privacy. We hope you enjoy the wonderful sunsets, creek access, and stars above as much as we do!About the Listing:Come pitch your tent or park your RV on our property and set up camp at the edge of our farm! We have a few other campsites, well-spaced apart, so you can expect to see other campers periodically throughout your stay in passing or in common areas such as the toilet. You will be able to enjoy privacy and all the serenity that the outdoors has to offer! There is cooking grate on the fire pit so you can cook up some delicious meals. We’d suggest bringing some camping chairs if you’re tent camping to enjoy your meals or your morning coffee, as we do not have a picnic table on site. We hosted a 7-person retreat here and it was absolutely magical. The property feels like a sanctuary—hammocks by the waterfall, butterflies everywhere, and plenty of space to do powerful, grounding work in nature. A short hike up the falls is well worth it, and you can even catch glimpses of Crabtree Falls from part of the land. It’s also easy to slip away to quiet spots along the Tye River for peaceful reflection. The lack of cell service turned out to be a gift, allowing everyone to be fully present and unplugged. We can’t wait to come back and see how the space continues to grow after construction—it’s already such a special place. Highly recommend for anyone seeking rest, connection, or a nature-based retreat!

One of our favorite HipCamp destinations- just finished our third stay here. Beautiful setting, nestled in the woods next to a rushing stream and a waterfall. Totally off grid - cancel all calls and turn off the phone. Bring a good book or plan to hike the abundant nearby trails, especially Crabtree Falls. The ultimate in forest bathing. Best for self contained campers; the only amenities are a fire pit, a tent platform (sans tent) and a plank for a shelf/table.

Great location near crabtree falls and the Priest Mountain and Spy Rock area. The land is beautiful the waterfall is amazing. Hard to beat that with the benefit of privacy. The wildlife camera is to the left of the shed for finding and covering - i’m not sure if there is one by the waterfall it’s hard to find if there is. The waterfall pool is deep enough to lounge in on a hot day. One of my favorite spots I have camped.

Our stay at Tina’s place could not have been better. Tina was so responsive and helpful. She answered every question and also had firewood and a fire pit ready. Her place was easy to access and was so close to Carvin’s Cove and downtown Roanoke. We throughly enjoyed the peaceful beauty of her campsite. We also took Tina’s advice to use the dump station at Camping World which was only a few miles away. We would give Tina’s place 5 stars, and we definitely plan to return soon.

Harmony Hut is a cute little bungalow that has a few of the creature comforts of home like AC, ceiling fan, TV and Internet, while leaving you with the feeling of being in the woods and solitude. The outdoor hot shower is an awesome touch, as is the picnic shelter for cooking and eating. Be prepared to get a few steps in, but nothing difficult.

Tina’s place is outstanding! Just secluded enough to ensure peace and quiet, but close enough to run out and get something you forgot. Tina herself was a wonderful host and was ready with information and local knowledge of the area. Much appreciated! We had a 22’ Travel Trailer pulled with a 2004 Expedition. Using low range the truck easily backed the camper up the hill, but I can understand it being more difficult without. Still, a wonderful spot and a great host. I look forward to coming back!

Harmony hut is the bomb. It’s a whole camp actually. First off, the host Mitch is great. He came and met us shortly after we arrived. He gave us the run down and scope of the property. He gave us his local recommendations after asking what our plans were. He hit on every one. Every place he told us about was great. The who property is a really nice, but the camp that is associated with Harmony Hut is awesome for a family or just two. A pavilion with electric overlooks the back end of the camp. There is a bunk house, tree house and a Harmony hut all situated in close proximity. I’d never thought I’d say this but the outhouse was so nice. Deep natural outhouse that had no odor or funk. He has TP hand sanitizer, the whole setup is sweet. Mitch has covered (dry) firewood we burned in a fire ring every night. Such an incredible spot! Cool to have such a unique space to yourself - my pup had a blast running up and down the mountains and playing in the water. Site was clean and private. Close to the Blue Ridge Parkway and not too far from some cool breweries/distilleries/restaurants. Highly recommend this spot if you don't mind not having facilities. Already thinking about going back!!

Camp Cove Creek is located in rural Faber, Virginia which is 20 minutes from Charlottesville in beautiful Nelson County. In addition to the many natural features like the Blue Ridge Parkway, Appalachian Trail and the James River, Nelson is home to Wintergreen Resort and Oakridge Estate and hosts events such as the Lok'n Festival, Camp Jeep, and Overland Expo. Camp Cove Creek was part of my grandparent's Waveland Farm. Originally situated on over 600 acres, the brick antebellum house across the hill was used as a hospital in the Civil War. The camp used to be a horse and cattle farm as well as a flea market and airport with grass airstrip when my mom owned the land. Our vegetable garden was by the swimming hole. The airstrip still maintained as such in order to offer aviation-accessible camping. It is s the future home of Faber Christmas tree farm and features several notable antique vehicles rusting in peace. Some models are of the same make and model featured on TV and film. Camp Cove Creek is easily accessible via Rt 29 and Rt 6 east (Irish Road). Our property sits at the confluence of Bear and Cove Creeks where wading/hiking/tubing is permitted and encouraged (with water shoes). We are continually trying to improve the site by removing old barbed wire, poison ivy, roadside trash, and invasive plant species in addition to planting Christmas Trees, raising 3 kids, and working 2 full time jobs so please forgive our works in progress! This is your 30-acre camping playground! Licensed off-road vehicles, ADV and Dual-sport motorcycles, horses, personal electric vehicles and EVEN PRIVATE PLANES are welcomed! Camp anywhere along it or the creeks bordering it. We encourage walking the route first as it has intentionally been left primitive to provide more of an authentic and fun getaway adventure. Overlanding does tend to scratch paint so enter at your own risk! There is a Volleyball Net and Horseshoe set for use as well. Nearby in the soapstone mining town of Schuyler you can visit the home place of Earl Hamner, best known for his creation of The Waltons TV show. Starting December 1, or first night below freezing we will be closing down Bath House and only access will be at outhouses. Only sites near outhouses will be open and there will be no access to water. Situated at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains and bordering the Jefferson National Forest, Thunder BRidge has scenic, large, private tent sites and cabins in the woods for those who want to experience camping at its finest. Many of the sites border Elk Creek. Our RV sites are large, flat and at the edge of the forest in a well kept open green space. Our 100 acres was originally a camp built by the Civilian Conservation Corp in the "30s and early '40s, then a boys' juvenile detention center and Big Brothers'/Big Sisters' camp, which closed in 2009. The tent sites and cabins are in the forest, away from the buildings out front, but you're free to walk around and check out the historic site. Most of the buildings out front are artist studios (currently for 16 artists). We like to share the camp with others and watch it come back to life. All within a short driving distance are the Natural Bridge, wineries, breweries, Natural Bridge Zoo, Safari Park, Dinosaur Kingdom, Appalachian Trail, Blue Ridge Parkway, James River, historic Lexington, Devil's Marbleyard, Glenwood Horse Trail, swimming holes, etc. We have river access 2 miles up the road if you'd like to fish or put your kayak or canoe in. Truly, there is something nearby for everyone. We'd be happy to give you recommendations of things to see and do. If you are a star gazer you won't be disappointed by our dark sky.
