Portions of the historic Three Chopt Trail, a Native American trail, run through a large portion of the county. The trail was marked by three hatchet chops in trees to show the way. The modern-day U.S. Route 250 roughly follows this route from Richmond to Charlottesville. Learn more about this land: In the heartland of Goochland where you can see deer from far and wide. Come pitch a tent in this gorgeous three acres of lush green Forestry surrounded and nature. Start your day listening to birds chirping, with the smell of fresh Virginia Air. What a charming and peaceful property! They have the sweetest animals and a beautiful garden. It was nice to have a restroom and shower nearby. Great spacious camp site. We really appreciated the canopy that was set up for us because the sun was hot during the day, and there was plenty of firewood available to keep us warm at night. Karen made us feel so welcome and made sure we had everything we needed, including jumper cables when one of our cars wouldn’t start. AMAZING spot for stargazing!

A hidden gem just outside of Hampton Roads! We stayed at Site 1 - The Orchard. The property is beautiful. The site was lovely. They even left the lights on for us as we were coming in late. You can tell they really care about their property and the site. Both are meticulously maintained. We thoroughly enjoyed the sounds of nature, and the beautiful orchards. There is electric hook ups and water on site. The site is very well shaded. It’s a short walk down a small hill to the u-pick blueberry patch. We didn’t take the time to pick this go round but absolutely plan to come again and do so. The road to the site is gravel but grated well and clear. We had no issues getting to the site and backing in with our 17ft trailer. Michael stopped by, at the end of our stay, to wish us safe travels and say hi. We enjoyed meeting him. We’ll absolutely be adding this HipCamp to the rotation of spots not far from home!

We loved staying 2 nights at Michael’s farm with our camper! It was a very secluded and well maintained spot that our dog could roam freely as well. We had the wood line behind us and a great view of the farm and sunsets in front of us. We enjoyed exploring the property with his private trail that both kid and dog had fun killing time on. All his farm animals were an extra perk and we grew fond of Baby Bull. Michael was very welcoming once we arrived and very responsive with a small glitch in the water line that was fixed in no time! While exploring the property we saw the other camp site with all the same accolades as ours. We hope to return again as this was a truly quiet, secluded and peaceful experience!

We actually booked Site 2, but Michael reached out offering Site 1 since it would be vacant during our stay. We happily accepted his offer and I'm so glad we did! Upon our arrival, Michael stopped by to welcome us and explain the layout of the land. He told us where to find firewood (a nice bonus) in case we needed a refill during our stay. Setting up was easy, there was plenty of space to position our 27ft trailer as needed. Our power and water hookups are on the opposite side so we will be purchasing extenders before our next stay - but even without them, we had no issues connecting. There are several trees perfect for hammocks. The large picnic table provided plenty of space for meals and games and art activities. There is a small store a few minutes away in case you forget something (like we did). We took advantage of Michael's invitation to explore and walked over to the barn to say hello to the animals. The ambiance was more than I could have imagined: dragonflies buzzing around, the orchard down the hill, horses at the end of the gravel road, cows grazing in the distance, string lights that illuminate the night. And the views, from sun up to sun down, absolutely amazing! So peaceful, exactly the getaway we were needing! We're already planning our next visit :)

We spent four days on this beautiful farm and had a lovely time. Everything was clean and well kept, we had water and an eletric hook up. We tent camped with 6 people and had plenty of space to set up. Our hosts were lovely and we felt perfectly safe (a must for female campers). They let us have the run of the farm and we had a great time exploring and admiring the farm and the livestock. I would highly recommend this camp and am looking forward to coming back in the future.

Elena was very hospitable. She has a great place, welcomed me into her house for the bathroom. She even offered to share some of a meal with me that was prepared, which I did not expect, and I was grateful for it. The greenhouse is nice. She has different things to use if you need them, like tarps, and other things. And there was indeed a good view of the stars out here. I couldn't ask for a better or kinder host. Will be coming again.

Set up a tent, car camp, or bring your small trailer to one of two sites on a unique property backed up to 20+ acres of woods. If you are coming into Richmond for a Brown's Island event we are a five minute Uber to an access point using the Potterfield walking bridge (it's a beautiful walk across the James River to the island). Each campsite includes 3 level spots to pitch tents (see dimensions below), and a connected space to park one car, van or small trailer. The large parking space can be used as a fourth tent footprint if needed. There are additional parking spaces. Each site has a fire pit (with firewood on site), a grate to grill over the fire, a picnic table, and a hammock. There is a shared outbuilding with a composting toilet, hand washing sink, outdoor shower (solar warmed), and space to change privately.  Campsite W ~  Tent footprints: 1) 10' x 12' 2) 10' x 13' 3) 9' x 10' Campsite E ~ Tent footprints: 1) 15'x16' 2) 10' x 15' 3) 9' x 10' **Pricing is based on groups of up to four adults or two adults with children. Portions of the historic Three Chopt Trail, a Native American trail, run through a large portion of the county. The trail was marked by three hatchet chops in trees to show the way. Learn more about this land: Come take a load off at this forested Richmond retreat overlooking Reedy Creek. Set up a tent, car camp, or bring your small trailer to one of two sites on a unique property backed up to 20+ acres of woods. Imagine a hidden gem where you can relax to the sounds of rushing water and chirping birds, but can walk or bike to coffee shops, breweries, restaurants, parks or the river. If you are coming into Richmond for a Brown's Island event we are a five minute Uber to an access point using the Potterfield walking bridge (it's a beautiful walk across the James River to the island). Each campsite includes 3 level spots to pitch tents (see dimensions below), and a connected space to park one car, van or small trailer. The large parking space can be used as a fourth tent footprint if needed. There are additional parking spaces. Each site has a fire pit (with firewood on site), a grate to grill over the fire, a picnic table, and a hammock. There is a shared outbuilding with a composting toilet, hand washing sink, outdoor shower (solar warmed), and space to change privately.  Campsite W ~  Tent footprints: 1) 10' x 12' 2) 10' x 13' 3) 9' x 10' Campsite E ~ Tent footprints: 1) 15'x16' 2) 10' x 15' 3) 9' x 10' **Pricing is based on groups of up to four adults or two adults with children. For groups of five to seven adults there is an additional charge of $10 person per day. For groups of eight or more we suggest you reserve both sites and have the entire camp to yourselves. Campsites W and E are about 80' apart. Both are around 100' to the creek. The spots can accommodate a total length (towing vehicle plus trailer) of up to 35 ft. There is an outdoor spigot with potable water and hoses for clean up. The woodlands and creek adjacent to the campsites have trails that are accessible to the public. You and your furry friends are welcome to use these paths, but know that others may be using them too. Richmond has so much to offer and we are just a hop, skip, and a jump to many wonderful attractions - kayak or sunbathe on the James River, walk or bike on trails around the city, rock climb, dine, imbibe. PLEASE NOTE* These sites are on a private property with a house that is visible to campers, but we give our guests complete privacy and don't plan to interact unless you need something from us.
