Set up a tent, car camp, or bring your small trailer to one of two sites on a unique property backed up to 20+ acres of woods. Imagine a hidden gem where you can relax to the sounds of rushing water and chirping birds, but can walk or bike to coffee shops, breweries, restaurants, parks or the river. If you are coming into Richmond for a Brown's Island event we are a five minute Uber to an access point using the Potterfield walking bridge (it's a beautiful walk across the James River to the island). Each campsite includes 3 level spots to pitch tents (see dimensions below), and a connected space to park one car, van or small trailer. The large parking space can be used as a fourth tent footprint if needed. There are additional parking spaces. Each site has a fire pit (with firewood on site), a grate to grill over the fire, a picnic table, and a hammock. There is a shared outbuilding with a composting toilet, hand washing sink, outdoor shower (solar warmed), and space to change privately.  Campsite W ~  Tent footprints: 1) 10' x 12' 2) 10' x 13' 3) 9' x 10' Campsite E ~ Tent footprints: 1) 15'x16' 2) 10' x 15' 3) 9' x 10' **Pricing is based on groups of up to four adults or two adults with children. For groups of five to seven adults there is an additional charge of $10 person per day. For groups of eight or more we suggest you reserve both sites and have the entire camp to yourselves. Campsites W and E are about 80' apart. Both are around 100' to the creek. The spots can accommodate a total length (towing vehicle plus trailer) of up to 35 ft. There is an outdoor spigot with potable water and hoses for clean up. The woodlands and creek adjacent to the campsites have trails that are accessible to the public. You and your furry friends are welcome to use these paths, but know that others may be using them too. Richmond has so much to offer and we are just a hop, skip, and a jump to many wonderful attractions - kayak or sunbathe on the James River, walk or bike on trails around the city, rock climb, dine, imbibe. PLEASE NOTE* These sites are on a private property with a house that is visible to campers, but we give our guests complete privacy and don't plan to interact unless you need something from us. While you are on a 2 acre property backed up to a 20 acre wooded area, we are still in the middle of the city and you will hear city sounds. This is a safe space. To the east is Montpelier and to the west is Louisa, both have all the modern stores and conveniences along with some country charm. You will park near the trailhead and it is a 2 minute walk down a wooded trail. The cabin is one room with a loft. There is a queen size memory foam bed in the loft (up a ladder) and a small wood stove with a cooktop for chilly nights that will keep you toasty warm. Welcome!

Twenty plus years ago, there was an ad in the paper listing ten acres for sale in Old Church. It has always been a special place and so the adventure began... We built the house and ever since, have been adding gardens, paths, trails, benches, swings and generally giving back the love to the land for the pleasure it has provided. As a result, there is wildlife and birds galore. Hummingbirds will delight you as will the tree frogs and lizard frogs at the frog pond canoe. Wander down the path to our first vegetable garden location which is now a prime spot for pitching a tent or just hanging out and watching for deer, turkeys, or turtles. Depending on the season, you can enjoy blooming azaleas, coneflowers, crepe myrtles or zinnias. There is a super hip farmstand (like a mini Whole Foods) and an old fashioned country store 2 miles up the road and a good Mexican place about 15 minutes away. To the east is Montpelier and to the west is Louisa, both have all the modern stores and conveniences along with some country charm. You will park near the trailhead and it is a 2 minute walk down a wooded trail. The cabin is one room with a loft. There is a queen size memory foam bed in the loft (up a ladder) and a small wood stove with a cooktop for chilly nights that will keep you toasty warm. Welcome!

This is a rustic little spot about 15 minutes off Rt. 460 in central VA. No amenities, so bring everything you will need, but Merritt was responsive and quite hospitable. The land is privately located among a small hardwood tree grove, but has nice pond views to one side and fields on 2 other sides. Merritt and his wife are lovely people and fascinating to talk to.

Wonderful campsite! Peaceful and nature-ific; such a delight right in the city. Loved the included wood on site and hammock. Absolutely recommend and would come back. Note that the city noises at night (which host is transparent about) are real; there are trains with blaring horns every night several times, so just bring your ear plugs. There are also coyotes, abundant birdsong and the babbling creek to listen to :)

Beautiful trails and streams to say the least. While yes, you definitely know your in the city. The host do a great job with the site. Restroom is clean and fire wood+ supply’s were all readily available to use. The hiking trails are right there to explore and good for beginners and intermediate hikers.

This is a wonderful location tucked away in the city. A hidden gem. Everything is provided for you to include a bathroom and showers and a lot of firewood. Campsite E was very big and had many places to pitch a tent. We chose to car camp, but was still very close to the campsite itself. It has a play ground for children and a privacy fence to block you from the other campsite. The hammock is a nice touch, plenty of tables and chairs. Watching the sunrise over the creek in the morning was amazing.

Large, very private spot. Lots of well kept trails to explore around the camp. My dog really enjoyed our walkabouts. The site was clean and well maintained. Grass covered the entire camp area which would make it totally fine even if the weather turned rainy. You can hear the highway and train but they were not bothersome at all. I would/will stay here again.

What a charming and peaceful property! They have the sweetest animals and a beautiful garden. It was nice to have a restroom and shower nearby. Great spacious camp site. We really appreciated the canopy that was set up for us because the sun was hot during the day, and there was plenty of firewood available to keep us warm at night. Karen made us feel so welcome and made sure we had everything we needed, including jumper cables when one of our cars wouldn’t start. AMAZING spot for stargazing!

The campground itself is situated right on the river with a very thoughtful set of steps leading down to a beachy area. Plenty of space to set up tents and have designated areas for games, cooking, etc. The host was super welcoming and brought a load of firewood out to us to make sure we had a comfortable stay. You don’t find many camping spots within the city limits yet feel like you’re in the middle of the woods. Such a cool space along Reedy Creek with plenty of room to spread out/group camp. There’s a fire pit on each site, firewood provided, a picnic table, chairs etc. Close to all that RVA has to offer yet secluded. The host is very communicative making sure you have everything that you need. I live within 15 minutes and I still book nights here from time to time just to get away! I highly recommend it!
