The campsites were fantastic. Water pressure was wonderful. 30 and 50 amp hook ups beautiful bathhouse. Trails to explore for Miles. Wonderful access to a nice shallow spot on the James River. Great for swimming, putting in your kayak or tube. You will also notice the remnants of a larger infrastructure that was once a private school campus. This campground is definitely a hidden gem! Tons of space, full hookups, trails, and a great place for family gatherings. We were at site 11 which was secluded and facing the trees. The bathhouse was adorable with plenty of space. They have a gazebo with lots of picnic tables perfect for parties. The grassy area between the campground and the gazebo is big enough for multiple games of soccer / badminton / volleyball …anything you can think of. There’s hiking, the James River and what appears to be a dog washing area. Also a community fire pit. Can’t wait to come back!

Weekend Trip to The Wilderness At Belmead
Beautiful and quiet. I host was quick to answer any questions we had. Getting there: The hosts directions are very clear and get you to the site with no problems. The cinder roads in and out are well maintained If it is your first trip I do recommend going during daylight. Be on the lookout for deer they are everywhere. And there is one way in and one way out. Campsite: Sites are all parallel pull through starting with #1 as the first site. I recommend turning left at site 1 and driving around to the back because of the angle. Each site has a fire ring and a table. Note there is no lighting. Each site has water, sewage and electricity; the power boxes have plug ins for 20, 30 & 50 amps (unless noted). There are well kept bath houses at the pavilion located about 75 yards away. Activities: There is lots of trails for walking, hiking and bicycling. There is a lot to see including wildlife and some of the buildings from years gone by. Although you are out in the middle of nowhere, it’s a quick trip to the highway and close to local shops and stores as well as close to Midlothian and Richmond. Overall: This was a great break from it all. I loved the quiet and I definitely look forward to returning again.

There many words that can describe this place but one that quickly comes to mind is Magical! This hidden gem in Powhatan county has so much to offer for outdoor enthusiasts and even if you’re just looking to escape the busy city life and have a more slow pace and peaceful rejuvenation this is definitely the place to be! All the RV spots are gravel but leveled , full hookups, pull-thru and have fire ring and picnic table. The added bonus is the shelter with several picnic tables, grill and bathroom with flush toilets and showers if needed! Now it is in the middle of nowhere, so I would recommend to bring all the items you’re going to need for the duration of the trip (including bug spray). Cell service wasn’t too bad, I have Verizon and was able to get minimal 3 bars consistently. Overall I enjoyed my stay and cannot wait to come back here soon!

Nice quiet camp site. We happened to have the whole place to ourselves. As “dark sky” as you’ll get this close to Richmond and wide open so the view of the stars was perfect. Jessica was a responsive host and answered our questions quickly. The kids had a great time exploring the property. Good alternative to the State Parks near-by.

Located in Victoria Virginia, the farm is an hour to Richmond, 45 minutes to Farmville, and 45 minutes from John Kerr reservoir (on the boarder of NC). We are pet friendly, and the property is completely fenced. Enjoy free unlicensed fishing on property in our small pond, stocked with catfish and bluegills, or let the pups swim away the summer heat. Enjoy a walk on the nearby Tobacco Trail, fish at one of the many nearby rivers and lakes. Roast marshmallows over a fire and stargaze or catch fireflies all night. All sites have access to a portable compost toilet, and we can provide water for the sun showers. We have tent sites, and an RV site, 420friendly but we do not partake. PLEASE NOTE: No Check In After 9PM! The camp sites are only available with direction of host ( new closer parking area and camp area access gate for 2025!!) The lake at the VFW- good fishing and lovely strolling paths See the falls or fish and hike at Nottaway Falls. NEAR BY ATTRACTIONS: Swim, relax and enjoy the waterfall at Whittle’s Mill- 35 min drive. John Karr Dam and Reservoir- great sandy swimming beaches. Fishing, hiking and picnic areas. Best place ever! 45 minutes south. . Amenities/ Activities: friendly sheep, goats and horses to pet and feed metal detectors to borrow free fishing and poles provided free fire wood- collect your own or from cut piles laundry for a fee in house pots and pans to cook grill for site upon request free fresh eggs Horse rides available for donation which helps offset feed or veterinary needs. This experience may not be available due to weather or other factors, be sure to talk to us prior to your visit to determine availability and requirements. Set up a tent, car camp, or bring your small trailer to one of two sites on a unique property backed up to 20+ acres of woods. Imagine a hidden gem where you can relax to the sounds of rushing water and chirping birds, but can walk or bike to coffee shops, breweries, restaurants, parks or the river. If you are coming into Richmond for a Brown's Island event we are a five minute Uber to an access point using the Potterfield walking bridge (it's a beautiful walk across the James River to the island). Each campsite includes 3 level spots to pitch tents (see dimensions below), and a connected space to park one car, van or small trailer. The large parking space can be used as a fourth tent footprint if needed. There are additional parking spaces. Each site has a fire pit (with firewood on site), a grate to grill over the fire, a picnic table, and a hammock. There is a shared outbuilding with a composting toilet, hand washing sink, outdoor shower (solar warmed), and space to change privately.  Campsite W ~  Tent footprints: 1) 10' x 12' 2) 10' x 13' 3) 9' x 10' Campsite E ~ Tent footprints: 1) 15'x16' 2) 10' x 15' 3) 9' x 10' **Pricing is based on groups of up to four adults or two adults with children. For groups of five to seven adults there is an additional charge of $10 person per day. For groups of eight or more we suggest you reserve both sites and have the entire camp to yourselves. Campsites W and E are about 80' apart. Both are around 100' to the creek. The spots can accommodate a total length (towing vehicle plus trailer) of up to 35 ft. Go by a local store and buy night crawlers,worms and a pack of 2/0 hooks and you will catch something . Firewood available per request and delivered for$30.00 a load. Accessible by car or canoe, East End at Seven Islands provides endless fun for the whole family, including your well behaved off-leash dogs. When you arrive take a cooling dip in a quiet “river pool”, relax on your private beach, or see if the fish are biting. Let your kids experience the best the river has to offer by exploring the shallows for crayfish, chasing minnows, or watching for Bald Eagles patrolling the river. Your site is approximately 2 acres, so you will have your choice of where to pitch a tent or place your camper or trailer. Spend your nights stargazing, enjoying a campfire (remember to bring s’mores ingredients), or fishing for catfish. This is an ideal family-oriented campsite about an hour NW of Richmond. Come, enjoy and make some memories! Children 10 and under are free On the other side of the river you might hear a train passing by at different times, both, day and night. Safety Notice: Not accessible by boat, canoe, or kayak when the James River level is 6 feet or higher at Scottsville. At 7.5 - 8 feet, there is not much beach to play on and the river is too dangerous to navigate. You can drive in and camp, but please stay clear of all water activities, including fishing, in these dangerous conditions.

Well it’s here. I’m Located in Wakefield Virginia. If you’re traveling to Virginia Beach I’m one hour away. From my farm there is a free ferry in Scotland where the ferry departs to Williamsburg just 30 minutes. At my farm I have 5 sites for tent/camping so it’s spaced appropriately apart I have 2 Rv sites totally away for their privacy and a new mini house also properly spaced away. All have a clean picnic table and a fire pit. 100 feet away you’ll find that clean bathroom, shower and a wash station for hygiene. You’ll see the love I put into this and because I love it and my prior guests love it, which means it may be right for you also. In the town of Wakefield you’ll find gas stations, dollar stores, a Value food market and if you want (to go) food we have that also. Plus it’s home to The Virginia Diner. Amenities include toilet access, a shower, trash disposal, picnic tables, and potable water. Pets are allowed, as are campfires.
