We had the loveliest time and the hosts Eric and Vicki are tremendous. She brought us the best ribs and macaroni salad and potato salad out of nowhere as they had extras! Kind and sweet. .
Land is gorgeous. Fabulous trails we explored w the dogs. We had a campfire and just relaxed for 2 nights w no cares other than wAtching the stars. We'll be back!

Wonderful resort! Clean, organized, and friendly staff! We enjoyed the text updates for upcoming events and convenient delivery of food and firewood. The riverside sites are incredible. It was a peaceful spot to spend a long weekend. We will definitely be back.

Beautiful property owned and operated by an amazing family. Eric and Vicki go above and beyond to make sure any campers: Tent, RV, camper van, etc. are well taken care of. You can find full 30/50amp hook ups on site, full water and sewage hook ups with easy access (and a heated water spigot for colder months) and full trash service. There are beautiful trails through the property for small hikes that lead to a small
river where we spent a lot of time. Foraging is plentiful and encouraged, from culinary mushrooms to berries and more. Our pets loved exploring the property and were able welcomed warmly with treats regularly by Vicki! Eric and his son keep the property clean and protected, we never felt anything less than fully safe while staying here.
The surrounding hiking trails, views, and attractions are worth the trip if you’ve never been to Somerset county. It was our first time and we found plenty to do and explore from farm stands to waterfalls and everything in between. With only 1.5hrs from Pittsburgh, it’s a great day trip to visit and explore as well. Local towns we loved include Ligonier (great active town center) and Somerset/Johnstown for medium city amenities and grocery shopping.
We cannot wait to come back and visit in the future. Anytime we are coming through the state it will be a must stop stay for us.

We enjoyed staying at Eric's. We tent camped with our dog. The site had a firepit and picnic table. Eric has a large property that we were able to explore if we wanted to. He and his wife were very welcoming. It is located in a small town but there are attractions nearby like the Speedway and Filght 93 memorial. Thanks for your hospitality!

Went out to meet my parents who were ther for a few nights with their camper. The hosts were incredibly friendly and thoughtful, they got some pumpkins for my girls to carve and were extremely accommodating for us. The area is beautiful, private and a fantastic location to get into the laurel highlands. It was everything I look for when hipcamping. Highly recommend it and will definitely be back

This was our second stay on Eric's property (it probably won't be our last!). The accommodations for our camper trailer are top notch. Eric and Vickie are the nicest people: communication with them is timely and they stop by with sweet little gifts, such as snacks as well as corn and tomatoes from local farmers. They even brought some treats for our dog. Vickie set up some beautiful autumn decorations on the site which we used for family photos. All in all, this was one of our best camping trips! Thanks, Eric and Vickie!

The perfect camping spot! Eric was very friendly and an amazing host. This place includes a firepit and a picnic table. The surrounding nature is breathtaking, with a beatiful tree line framing the sunrise. We will certainly come back in our future trips.

Eric and Vicki are exceptional hosts. They met us on arrival and showed us all amenities. The full hookup site is perfectly level, clean and easily accessible. A 50 foot hose works for fresh water. There’s a fire pit. There’s also a picnic table under a roof with a fan and lights. We’ll be back!

We enjoyed the solitude offered by Eric’s property. He and his wife have a large portion of land, and we were essentially allowed to go anywhere to camp. There are spots that are closer to the entrance where picnic tables are provided, but we preferred something further away, so we ventured out to the rest of the property. It really is what you make it. We enjoyed the birds in the morning and the bats at night. There are many trails on the property and even creek access, which I believe is also the property line. Super close to Linn Run SP, Laurel Mtn. SP, Forbes, and Laurel Hill SP. Amazing central location to access the parks.
Eric’s wife was our main point of contact during our stay, and she is beyond lovely. So sweet and big on communication. There was firewood offered, and the morning of our departure she gave us breakfast bars and treats for our two dogs. She made sure our fire ring was safe and completely extinguished, which I thought was very responsible.
Overall, we had a wonderful stay. I would say the only thing I would change is I usually prefer somewhere with forest and field. Soft grass the dogs can play fetch on, this land is largely raw it seems like. Eric and his wife do a good job maintaining a path and it is of no fault of their own.

We enjoyed our stay at Black Powder Point! Eric and Vicky were great hosts. They were great for a chat, but also respected our privacy.
Eric is still working on the property, but as it stands: access to the site was quick and easy. The pad was fairly level and set-up only took a few minutes. He also has a few tent sites (the way he is setting up the property, you can't see other campers from your site).
During our stay, we saw several deer, lots of birds, and even a few hummingbirds as there is a patch of beautiful wildflowers on the property.
Eric was very responsive to communications, explaining everything in detail. We had an issue with a previous reservation (through no fault of our own or the hosts), and Eric was very accommodating, offering a very reasonable resolution.
When you visit, be sure to ask Eric to tell you the story/history of the property and his family - it warmed our hearts.
Even though the property is only a few hundred yards from Lincoln Highway, there was minimal highway noise (not enough to bother us).
Several restaurants are within a short drive, and we were able to visit Laurel Mountain for the trails, Donegal Lake for fishing, and spent some time at the stream that runs through the bottom part of Eric's property.
All-in-all, it was a great stay, and we can't wait to see the improvements Eric makes to his property.

Great location if you love water side. The site was amazing, we fished and had a fire at our site every day / night.
The management team and workers at Blue Canoe are top notch.
The bike trail and kayaking all at your figertips is just awesome..
We bought a site there. That's how much we loved it!
