Weekend Trip to Hardscrabble Hill
This was an unbelievable spot. The scenery was gorgeous and the site was a dream- you’re at the top of a hill with stunning views but the clearing itself is flat and level with full hookup facilities, fire pit, picnic table and even trash & recycling bins onsite. We arrived after dark but David’s instructions were clear and the path is well defined with small solar lights that were bright enough to indicate the driveway but dim enough that we could still see all the stars at night. We loved visiting the dairy farm down the road and watching the birds in the trees surrounding the site. It felt like a private piece of paradise. Thank you for sharing your land with us!

Great set up by the creek, goats were a nice touch. There’s a farm across the creek and we were constantly being bombarder by the smell of what I’m assuming was cow manure, but other than that lovely hosts, lovely plot of land , watch out for ticks and enjoy the night !

Wonderful property and host! We had a fabulous stay for a long weekend and loved the peaceful atmosphere and beautiful surroundings. David was very informative with his directions and was so welcoming. We loved having electric and water on site and the campsite was very clean and having trash bins was a nice touch. We enjoyed watching the hot air balloons and the location was convenient to visit local breweries and Valley Forge Historical Park. We will definitely be back!

This might be the most beautiful HipCamp spot I’ve stayed at so far! It’s secluded but also nicely centrally located! Having a full hookup was also so nice, the sewage connection was a tad higher than my RV connection so it took a little longer when we did dump but so convenient nonetheless! I’d 100% stay again!

I’ll be back. The amount of space you get to yourself is unbeatable, and so perfect for pets. I hate being surrounded by people when I go camping. Gorgeous spot and extremely private. Yes there is a camp across the way but it was mostly quiet and my side was completely private! Nobody to bother me or my dog. Host was super responsive and polite. The map to the spot was perfect. The hammock, chairs, table, fire pit, and tree swing was a nice addition. You have to bring your own grate if you like to cook on them, but that’s personal preference. This might be my new go to local spot.

Quiet and peaceful spot all by it's self. Easy to find and back into. There are lots of deer and you will have horses for neighbors :) I stayed a couple nights here as I was hiking near by. There are 3 other Hipcamp sites on the property and even with all of them booked, it was still very quiet. I would stay again if were in the area. Thanks for having us!

We had such a wonderful stay at Hardscrabble Hill! The property is absolutely beautiful, the evenings were especially lovely and the night sky was filled with stars. It's a terrific place to make s'mores over a bonfire. The campsite is also in a great location, fairly close to both Philadelphia and Lancaster, which made it really convenient. David, the host, was fantastic! He was extremely helpful and answered all of our questions quickly and kindly. His hospitality made our stay even better. We truly enjoyed our time here and will definitely be back. Highly recommend Hardscrabble Hill to anyone looking for a peaceful and beautiful getaway!

The goats were so cute and friendly too! We can’t wait to come back. The sound of cicadas at night and the creek view was beautiful.

Spent 3 nights on Andrew's property. I had been looking for a spot where I could essentially wake up, and roll on to my paddleboard; this was perfect! The property is spacious, even, with great balance of sun and shade! There is a family campground directly across the river, but it's just a very small strip of it that is visual, but not at all noisy or disruptive. The location is somewhat affected by road noise, but almost all during the daylight hours. Andrew's communication was terrific! The site was clean and ready to go when I arrived, firewood brought down for me that afternoon. A composting toilet is privately tucked in just a 60 second walk from the site and is suitably clean (it's an outdoor toilet, you can only do so much lol) I was told that the hammock, fire ring, and trash can are new, and IMO, wonderful additions! This was such a beautiful and relaxing experience ... I am grateful to Andrew for sharing this space, and I am already brainstorming my stay for next summer!

It is not in the middle of nowhere....it's in the middle of everywhere! Learn more about this land: Camp next to a peaceful trickling creek just outside Phoenixville and Kimberton. We are a suburban oasis, surrounded by a little bit of everything.  Our homestead has plenty of activity including kids, dogs, and chickens, bees and goats! We have a fully wooded area available to explore across the creek, and weather dependent- the creek is a great place to stay cool. You'll see lots of growing fruit trees in our developing orchard and we are happy to share our vision for this beautiful land! We have two campsites available for you to choose between for your stay. Both sites are along the creek, however, one has a view of some nearby houses and is a short walk to the parking spot [Creekside]. The other site is more secluded, past the tree line, but a further walk from where you are able to park. [Hillside] If needed, we are happy to lend you a wagon to haul your gear. Please let us know if you have questions and your preference of site. We have a cabin-like bathroom and partial kitchen you will have access to during your stay. We always have cold water available for purchase in the fridge. There is trail access easily accessible from our home (the closest is approximately 1 mile), for paved or natural trail exploration. We are are a great stopping point for cyclists enjoying the area. It's a short drive to downtown Phoenixville with some of the best breweries around. Phoenixville is home to a great farmers market on Saturday mornings and numerous festivals. Also, close-by is the lovely quaint village of Kimberton, home of the best organic grocery store and many opportunities for hiking and small farms.

In 1990, Scott and Sue Miller purchased a 16-acre farm in Elizabethtown, Pa with the intentions of starting a select cut Christmas tree farm. 15,000 trees were purchased and planted on the farm. Six years later, the first tree was sold and since then, the farm has expanded its operations to Bernville, Pa. Camp on our 16 acre Christmas tree farm in an Amish neighbors with horses. Within 30 minute drive to Hershey park, Mt Gretna , Lebanon, Lancaster, Harrisburg, York. Enjoy hiking and biking trails nearby and the many attractions. We have excellent cell reception on our farm. Great view for star gazing and sunsets. Firewood available for purchase. We have a stone parking lot for RV campers. Two sites can also accommodate RV’s. We will reserve these sites. Tent campers can set up in the trees and lanes. An outdoor portable toilet is available and water is available at an outside spigot. We are open April through October. We have 6 sites available with fire pits. You are able to drive and park next to the site. Sites are available first come first served. Four persons per site additional $5 per night fee for extra guests. We sell Miller’s Christmas tree farms stickers. Our sites have excellent cell coverage. In the event we are not home when you arrive, there is a site map on the light pole near the porta pot. We will try to notify you in advance if any sites are taken.

It is private and has the same set up as site one. Park your car on top of hill and walk on down. It is a lovely spot. Walk is about 50 yards down a steep hill. Pack accordingly. Campsite #3 (High Site) Site 3 is above the river and looks over Hawk Mountain and the farm. It is private with beautiful views. Unreal full moon gazing............. Sunrise, Sunset, Moon rise, Bird watching, all very visible from this site. Car accessible, no walking to campsite required. At all sites, different seasons bring different activities. Spring: Kayaking, fishing and hiking. Summer: hiking, fishing in the pond, cooling off in the swim hole. Here are a few ground rules to help with your stay -PLEASE READ SO NONE OF THIS IS A SURPRISE-: -Dogs are permitted if they are friendly and are trained well enough to listen and stay at your site. Again, they must stay at your site unless walking with you on a leash. If your dog inflicts damage to the sites (digging holes, chewing up piles of sticks, chewing up toys to bits etc. please clean up after your dogs. We will provide shovels, rakes if you need!) - OVERLANDERS: You can bring your overland camper if you want, but you must park your vehicle in the parking spot across from your site at sites 1-3. It is a safety issue to block the entryway/exit lane. Site 4 is large enough to accommodate your vehicle and these rules do not apply there. -This is a place for relaxation and reflection by the creek. No loud groups, or partying allowed. If your neighbor can hear your music it is too loud. If your host can hear it, you will be asked to turn it down or off all together. -This is a pack it in, pack it out site. This includes food waste, dog waste, and any garbage produced. Please respect that :) DO NOT ATTEMPT TO BURN ANY WASTE IN THE FIRE RING BEFORE CHECKING OUT. -There is NO FISHING, kayaking or boating.
