Weekend Trip to Hobbit House Experience
Such a beautiful space! It was real rainy and slippery so did not quite make it all the way up the hill in my subaru outback but that was no problem at all. Awesome bed came with bedding and pillows and an electric fireplace so it was cozy the whole night. Really appreciated staying here!

The Hobbit House was a perfect little getaway for my partner and I with our large dog. We had a fun time walking the trails and doing the scavenger hunt (we got all but 3 of them). Our 2 wheel drive Honda didn't make it all the way up to the house, but we didn't mind the short walk. We ran into Rob on the trails and he was a very friendly host.

The Hobbit House was such a beautiful stay, nestled in the side of a hill in a very quiet area. The surroundings were fun to see on the designed scavenger hunt. The neighbour dog is well-trained and left us alone for our stay (we have a reactive dog). The electric fireplace kept us very warm throughout the night. I felt the outhouse was really clean though we didn’t use the shower. The sink right near the Hobbit House was also very convenient!

My friends and I had a WONDERFUL time Rob’s Hobbit hideout. My car (two-wheel drive) couldn’t make it halfway up the hill, but we made it work. There’s running water, a toilet and shower down the hill, and the hobbit hole stays warm with the heater. There’s electricity too! The ground is grassy (with some blackberry bramble but nothing where we were walking) and a beautiful view of the opposite hillside. We even had a good clear view of the sky at night! The firepit has a grill over it and I used my cast iron and we made some Chunk steaks and corn. There’s a table to stand around and some tree trunks to sit on. There are also more chairs inside the hobbit hole with another table (and microwave. Rob came up once in our stay to say hi and make sure we were doing okay, otherwise we had our privacy and it was so much fun.
Would recommend to anyone wanting a quiet get away!!

Rob was a friendly host, and the hobbit house itself was very private and secluded. It was everything I was looking for in a relaxing weekend away. It’s listed in the description, but without 4WD you’ll have to park a short walk away from the cabin. The bathhouse is also just a short walk away and is very close to the RV sites at the bottom of the hill, which can lead to some dog/people run-ins (which was not an issue). Overall, the hobbit house was an amazing experience for myself, my partner, and our dog.

The perfect start to our anniversary weekend adventure! Rob is a great host and so creative. The sound of crickets while sitting by the fire pit was just the calm we needed. Our dog, Théoden, loved roaming the property and making friends with the neighbor dog. We hope to be back someday!

Absolutely adorable stay. If your a LOTR fan or not its a beautiful peaceful place to stay. The crickets chirping all night with a gorgeous view of the stars was a wonderful way to fall asleep in a nice comfy bed.

Little hideaway close to multiple lakes and not too far from My St Helens. The hobbit house is quite something and once the crickets start you won’t even notice the traffic on the road nearby. Pro tip - there’s two trees that seem perfect for a hammock but the most common straps are about 3 feet too short. Bring an extender and you’ll get an awesome afternoon nap spot in the shade.

This place is idyllic. Easy to find, gracious host, and just enough “off grid” to feel the separation from the daily grind you might need, while feeling the connection back to nature you definitely need more of. It’s a truly inspiring place, and we most certainly plan on a return visit.

My partner and I had an exceptional time at the Hobbit House. The site felt really private and we can't believe it's only 40 minutes out from Portland. Our two dogs enjoyed Dexter, the neighbor dog. He was so friendly. We will definitely be coming back.

Rob was very congenial, and the place was very private with 10 acres of woods to explore with my dog. There was some noise from the cars passing below on the highway, but for the most part, the sound of the crickets is what I focused on. The Hobbit house is really cool, and I'd definitely recommend it

We had so much fun at the Hobbit House! You can see the love and attention to detail that Rob has put into it. We parked our larger vehicle down the hill near the bathroom and had no problems walking up and down to/from the house. The views from the front yard are beautiful. We had fun relaxing in the comfy chairs outside during the day, and also had a cozy movie night watching The Hobbit, of course! The kids had fun exploring some of the trails, and we all fell in love with Sir Dexter the friendly neighbor dog. We are missing him already. The bathroom was clean and although we didn't use it, the shower looked really nice! We'd love to stay again sometime!

Staying at the hobbit house was such a memorable experience. It really did feel like stepping into Middle-earth, but in a way that was cozy and inviting rather than over the top. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and everything lived up to the ad and reviews — maybe even better.
Rob is a kind and talented host. He built the hobbit house himself, which is amazing to see in person. When he stopped by in the morning, he shared a bit about his background and some fun stories that made the stay feel even more personal without taking away from the short time we had there.
This was a birthday gift for my husband. He really wanted to see the Perseid meteor shower, and we weren’t let down. We spent most of the night lying in the grass with our pup, watching countless shooting stars until the moon came up and lit the mountains and valley. It felt private, peaceful, and safe the whole time.
Other highlights: the fire pit with wood for sale on-site, the interior staying cool even on a hot day, and the sounds of crickets and frogs at night. On our way out, we explored Mt. St. Helens and nearby lakes, which was spur of the moment because of how easy it is to do from here.
This is a special and beautifully made place, and we’d happily recommend it to anyone looking for a unique and welcoming getaway.

What a darling Hobbit house! We loved every second. The bed was dreamy and it stays nice and cool inside from the heat. So many thoughtful touches and so convenient. A gorgeous swimming area less than a mile up the road! 11/10! Can't wait to come back.
