Six off-grid sleeping cabins dot the landscape, all within a short walk to our Common House, that includes a large gathering space, community kitchen/dining and bathrooms/shower. EarthWell offers Yoga and Meditation classes and weekend retreats year-round. Located in Southeastern Michigan, just 30 minutes west of Ann Arbor, and near the towns of Grasslake, Chelsea, Manchester. (All downtowns are 7-10 miles away). EarthWell allows hiking, wildlife watching (amazing sandhill cranes), swimming and canoeing/kayaking/paddleboating in our pond. East of Chelsea is the expansive Pinckney and Waterloo State Recreation areas, with over 20 lakes and trails for hikers, bikers, backpackers, and horseback riders. There are two households (the families of Ari Wakeman and Emily Adama) that live permanently on the property. (one in the lower level of the common house, and one in a cabin 200 yards from the common house.) During your rental they will maintain quiet and privacy for your group, but will remain on the property for the duration of your stay and will be available should any issues arise. Come set up camp at a beautiful wooded site in the middle of our 600+ acre farm! Creekside Campsite will be open again May of 2025 with other sites coming later in the summer. We have a few toilets available (one is at the Creekside site) but no potable water. There is firewood available for purchase at each site. **If you bring your own wood please take any unburned logs with you when you leave** While the farm is sprawling, there are multiple houses across the property so stay on established trails only and keep your noise levels down. This is a working farm, so you may occasionally see trucks or tractors. Please be respectful of nature and our home by following the Pack It In Pack It Out protocol - what ever you bring to the site, please take it with you when you leave.

Tails and Trails Farm is a gorgeous property that sits on 80 acres at the edge of the Irish Hills. We offer a place of healing and support for humans and animals through nature, music, and interaction. Many of our animals are rescues and we use them in a variety of therapies in an effort of healing for human an animal alike. We offer horseback riding lessons, pony rides. You can also tour the farm, meet the animals, and hear their stories. We look forward to meeting you! Learn more about this land: Come and enjoy our farm! Tails and Trails is a small family-owned horse farm in the Irish Hills of southeastern Michigan. Our campsite sits in the middle of 30 acres of private woods. There is a fire ring with room for seating and a separate area to place your tent directly adjacent. There is also another sitting area and plenty of options to hang hammocks. The site is about a 10 minute or .5 mile walk through a beautiful wooded trail from the parking area.  We also offer scheduled horseback trail rides across our 82 acres, for people of all ages. (If you have small children please specify so we can discuss options.) Please send us a message if you are interested to inquire about availability or if there are any questions we can answer.  In addition to the many full-size horses, we also have several miniature horses, miniature donkeys, chickens, 5 dogs, barn cats, and a pot-belly pig. All of which love attention from humans of all ages.  We are a 420 friendly property as cannabis is legal in Michigan. There are 5 dispensaries in Adrian offering both Recreational and Medical cannabis products for sale. If you would like help or advice about the local market please just ask.  This is a pack it in, pack it out campsite. The closest source of potable water is in the barn or about a ten-minute walk from the site.  This is a perfect social distancing campsite however you are still only a 10-minute drive to the nearest grocery store and 20 minutes from some great swimming lakes, kayaking, and small-town allure in the Irish Hills area.  Ann Arbor is also only a 45-minute drive and has a bounty to offer anyone. We are very familiar with the city and can offer advice or suggestions if you'd like. There is a kayak rental in Tecumseh which is about 15 minutes away where you can do an entire river loop and return to the same place thus requiring only one vehicle.  There are also several close lakes where you can drop your own kayak in and explore. If you’d like some more amenities then Walter Hayes State Park or Lake Hudson State Park are both about a 20-minute drive. We have trails throughout the woods and along with our fields for exploring. We welcome guests to wander and enjoy the property while respecting nature and all the things that live here. The area is alive with animals and creatures of all types. Families of deer and turkey call the farm home and don’t be surprised to hear a coyote howl at night. With natural water sources and different types of topography, we are blessed to have a variety of wildlife at our farm. We keep to ourselves however are more than happy to accommodate reasonable requests and appreciate others getting to enjoy the beauty and serenity the country can offer. We welcome all humans of good character that show love to each other and the Earth.

The Cranes Nest is located in the countryside of Grass Lake on our 25 acre homestead. This serene property is a great place for bird watching during the day and stargazing at night. The tent site’s sit on approximately 8 acres within the back 20 acres of the property, surrounded by fields, woodlands, and wetland. This variety of landscapes creates a special place for all types of wildlife, from turtles and frogs to deer and fox. We offer a variety of secluded sites as well as group sites. We are located 5-10 minutes from Portage Lake and Grass Lake. Due to limited access please plan on a short walk with your gear to the campsites from the parking location. A cart is available to help haul gear as well. There will be signs to guide you on this little journey. Pets are welcome, leashes are not required at your site, but please ensure your furry friends are leashed while exploring. We will be offering fresh organic eggs, firewood bundles, bug sprays, and misc items that you may have left behind. Cora also offers a variety of services including reiki and sound baths, send us a message if you are interested. Due to our busy and fluctuating schedule, we may not be home to greet you, but please feel free to say hello if we are!

Overall it was a very quiet and secluded camping experience, which I thoroughly enjoyed. For only small moments I could hear/see planes from above (about two) and heard faint music from the distance, which reminded me I was still within city limits but still far enough to feel immersed in nature. The planes stopped after sunset and the music didn’t last long. FYI - Ann Arbor is a college town and there was a big game between Michigan and MSU, which Michigan ended up winning (Go Blue!), so people were celebrating… I doubt that it’s like that all the time, only mentioning it because it made my experience memorable and even more enjoyable. The morning was beautiful, there was a nice breeze that blew through the trees and it made it seem like it was raining leaves all around as I sat and drank my coffee next to the fire. The huge oak tree made the experience even better, with its red leaves turning, it was just a beautiful fall camping experience overall. I even think this spot would be great to have a mini meditation or yoga session with you and a couple of friends. The oak tree would make a great grounding center for relaxation and rejuvenation and there is plenty of space to spread out.

It's private, beautiful scenic, quiet, good flat area for the tents, every thing we could want and need...very relaxing. Spending the evening here was the most enjoyable and relaxing experience I’ve had camping 🏕️ I stayed in my little camper van and it was perfect for my vehicle! Woke up to bird song and soft rustling prairie grasses. Couldn’t ask for a better experience. The host was kind and generous and was a perfect fit to this fairytale style camping trip. I plan to make many return trips ☺️ Thank you for having me and sharing your wonderful land 🙏🏼

The property is absolutely beautiful with trails you can walk an explore and watch wildlife everywhere. Would totally recommend great place to relax and unwind. On a 6 week camping road trip and so glad we ventured off the beaten path and found Carls property. Great kind hosts that made sure we had what we needed to make it a special stay. The property is big and beautiful with rolling hills, and an abundance of wildlife. Our site was very clean and secluded and made for a very peaceful night sleep. 100 recommend this to anyone looking for a great safe space to stay. One of our favorite spots so far!

My daughter and I had a blast! The campsite was lovely with spectacular views and plenty of well-cleared trails to walk. It’s far out enough from the rest of the property to feel remote and private without feeling unsafe. The animals were fun especially the donkeys! In the woods we saw deer and toads and all kinds of birds. And the adjacent field made for a great view of the stars. The site itself accommodated our large 10-person tent which was a big relief. Kirsten’s directions and communications were excellent, and her husband was very kind when he introduced us to some of the animals. We will absolutely be back and have been recommending them to everyone we can!

I hammock camped in a beautiful site next to the pond. Compost toilets were nearby and very well taken care of (these are small, self-contained toilets that may not be a great option for larger individuals), with a full shower and bathroom at the retreat center up front. Water pressure in the shower was VERY low, but it was as expected for a small earth-centric retreat center (if you need a shower while the retreat center is in place or find yourself in need of water pressure to blast off a long day, the TA truck stop is 15 minutes away and offers private showers for $17. Tent camping area had a few gorgeous trees protecting it and a fire pit for use. Owners were very welcoming, met me at arrival and provided a tour of the retreat center, map of the property, and information on anything I needed. Excellent property, would absolutely stay again.
