The meadow we occupy was once the farmers property that I grew up next to at my parents farm house. When he wanted to sell his property he offered it to us for purchase at a fair price if we would not develop more than we needed to live here. We maintained the meadow adjacent to our property and have kept it as an agricultural site. We have had our son develop an edible forest garden and a unique diversified small orchard so we can eat and share healthy organic fruits and vegetables while helping our environment and wildlife and educating others to do the same. It is expensive to live in Newtown but we love our property. We want to teach others to grow food from their land while helping to support us keeping our adjacent property agricultural and undeveloped. Weekend Trip to Mickelberry Forest Gardens
Amy was communicative and so lovely! The property is beautiful. The goats and chickens and ducks were fun camp neighbors to have. There’s a gas station and market 5 minutes away should you need anything last minute. Due to the grass in the field being dry, we had to camp a little closer to the house than we would have preferred so that we could have easier access to load/unload our camping gear and so that we could have fresh grass to set up the fire pit over. But, it sounds like the meadow will be developed over time to allow for that! So, knowing that I think we would definitely consider returning when my friend and I continue our annual camping tradition next year!

Harbour House was a great find. Right off the 95. Rob let us know about the area. There is a nice bike route/walk on the water and a new outdoor restaurant and creamery, Riva, that just opened in the route. Walkable and very nice. We also sat in the patio for our morning coffee that overlooks the harbor. Harbour House was a great find. It’s not easy finding spots off the interstate. We needed a spot on our way to NYC and this worked out well. We added two more nights. As noted, it is right next door to the public boat launch, but city maintenance keeps it cleaned up. Also the police monitor it on a regular basis. We would recommend Zuppardi’s Apizza. A local spot. We enjoyed it. We would come again.

Weekend Trip to Mickelberry Forest Gardens
We loved Mickelberry Forest Gardens! Amy and Bill are amazingly sweet and helpful. We spent the July 4th weekend next to their field and were able to see some fireworks in the distance as well as spend some time with their goats, chickens and even a turtle or two (all of which were adorable and gentle). We even enjoyed some fresh eggs. I would highly recommend a stay here as there is much to do in the area: spend quiet time in nature (either on the property or nearby hiking trails) or enjoy near by shopping.
