We adjoin 150 acres of nature conservancy lands that nobody seems to know about. These lands are for respectful public daytime use. The cabins are equipped with table, chairs, comfortable beds, dressers, stove and fridge. Two of the cabins will accommodate three persons and the other two will accommodate up to 6 people. A Bath House in the center of the campsite is convenient to all four cabins and contains a separate mens and women section with showers, toilets and sinks. Guests are encouraged to provide their own towels and bed linens to avoid per bed linen fee. The Rustic Log Cabins are located on the east side of Seneca Lake on Route 414 in the town of Hector. We are central to the Finger Lakes National Forest, wineries & breweries, Watkins Glen State Park and also the towns of Corning, Geneva, Ithaca, Seneca Falls and Hammondsport NY. We are open May through October.

This is a former school campus with several dorm buildings. The school has closed and the owners are trying to reimagine the property and put it back to use. It's a beautiful setting but don't be surprised to see the large dorm buildings! ;-)

The only “set back” is that once you’re on the property, the grass road to get to the site is a bit narrow so some of the branches from the growth to the sides of us scratched our cars a bit. Outside of that, it was just what we needed to get a way for a little bit. Great view of the stars on a clear night if you walk a little up from the site to the small open area.

We had such a wonderful birthday trip on Tommy’s land and in the surrounding area. Our site was the hilltop overlooking the rolling hills on one side and the forest on the other. It was perfect! Very private although the other site down the hill wasn’t occupied. They are spread apart quite a ways and both have picnic tables and fire rings. Tommy and his wife, Laura, both very nice and generous hosts, brought us plenty of free wood for our stay. Upon check-in, he greeted us and was very hospitable, offering suggestions for area must-sees for scenery, parks, wineries, food etc. They do offer usage of a flush toilet and sink in the end of their house, if desired. We’re pretty self-contained campers and didn’t utilize them. The property is very neat and clean in a rural area. We especially loved seeing the horse and cows each day as we are both originally from small farming towns. We would highly recommend this Hipcamp to anyone wanting a serene getaway with beautiful landscape and gracious host. Was a perfect trip! While you’re here, check out the Chimney Bluffs on Lake Ontario. They are super cool!

A great spot for a beautiful view of Seneca Lake. The only downside is that route 14 is about 150 yards down the hill so during the day the noise from traffic is a little annoying. At night, it's much better and never interrupted our sleep. Also, don't forget about the "Seneca Guns". You can hear those cannon sounds throughout the day. Scientists say it's natural gas being released from pockets under the lake. When the gas reaches the surface it creates a booming sound, sort of like a gunshot. Our second visit. This place is just magical. One weekend is not enough time. If it were open in the Winter we'd totally come here to ski and get away-even if there was no indoor plumbing...hint hint :) Just need a wood stove or pellet stove situation :)

The site is very nice, with Adirondack chair setup (two singles chairs, a table, a double with a table, a 2-3 seater swing, and a picnic table that could probably fit 8 people). There is a fire pit with grill, a pit toilet (that was very clean), and the owner left us some firewood. The site is pretty, and overlooks a steep drop off. Its not too close, but I have a young daughter, and had to stress to her the severity of the situation, and then roped off a boundary. We hiked walnut trail, and walked back along hemlock lake. I was told there are better trails, but this one was super close. This is close to OSB Cidery (which I recommend) and there’s a winery nearby, which we didn’t make it to. The campsite is ver scenic, and if I hadn’t brought my 4 year old, I could have stayed onsite and read a book by the fire the whole day.
