Wahl Dairy Farm has been a family run and owned small farm since 1921 when August Wahl moved their family to Callicoon. August was a butcher by trade, and the farm started as a family homestead, raising their own chickens and cows with the help of a few horses and of course August's father who was very handy and could make axe handles and wooden wheel spokes. The Wahl homestead became Wahl Dairy Farm in the 1940s when August started selling milk, two or four cans at a time, to the creamery. August's son, Vernon, took over the business and built it up; at one point about 100 cows were being milked! Vernon's son Ross took over the farm in 1995 and diversified it. Ross regularly raises chickens and pigs and grows pumpkins, in addition to the 40 or so milking cows currently on the farm (there are also calves and heifers). The farm is about 200 acres in total, including 15 acres of woods, 15 acres of "hunting" land (deer and rabbits roam free in the scrub), and close to 150 acres in production with pasture and hay. We never feed corn silage! We believe the corn gives the milk a more sour taste (you are what you eat!). We're proud that we've always been in grassland and committed to raising a mostly grass fed dairy herd, a quality not found in many diary farms today. We're excited to share this place with you! In addition there is excellent cell phone service on the farm! Great for digital nomads and everyone who needs to stay connected. The site is the second highest point in Sullivan County. They're just doing their job, but if you're not used to it, you may not sleep very well, so please bring ear buds or plugs! They absolutely love people, so they may get curious and try to come hang out with you in your tent! Because of this, we can provide you with a spray water bottle to keep them away from your tent. It's an unharmful way to keep them at bay, so please let us know if you'd like to have it on hand during your stay. Additionally, we strongly recommend bringing boots for walking around on the farm, as well as clothing you don't mind getting dirty. Especially in rainy weather, the grounds can get very muddy, and beware of animals who sometimes jump when greeting guests! Please do not hesitate to scold any of the animals should they jump on you! Wahl Dairy Farm has been a family run and owned small farm since 1921 when August Wahl moved their family to Callicoon. August was a butcher by trade, and the farm started as a family homestead, raising their own chickens and cows with the help of a few horses and of course August's father who was very handy and could make axe handles and wooden wheel spokes. The Wahl homestead became Wahl Dairy Farm in the 1940s when August started selling milk, two or four cans at a time, to the creamery. August's son, Vernon, took over the business and built it up; at one point about 100 cows were being milked! Vernon's son Ross took over the farm in 1995 and diversified it. Ross regularly raises chickens and pigs and grows pumpkins, in addition to the 40 or so milking cows currently on the farm (there are also calves and heifers). The farm is about 200 acres in total, including 15 acres of woods, 15 acres of "hunting" land (deer and rabbits roam free in the scrub), and close to 150 acres in production with pasture and hay. We never feed corn silage! We believe the corn gives the milk a more sour taste (you are what you eat!). We're proud that we've always been in grassland and committed to raising a mostly grass fed dairy herd, a quality not found in many diary farms today. We're excited to share this place with you! This was a great private area to set up tent. My friend and I hiked all day and then found our area all ready with a box of firewood (paid extra and worth it!) and 2 buckets of water. There was a nice bench which we used as a table to set up our dinners. Plenty of room for 2 tents. Watched the fire until we went to bed. We woke up the next morning to the birds chirping, packed up, went on another hike and then heading home. The Catskills were beautiful, as usual!

We really enjoyed our stay. Frank was a great host. Provided awesome food and fishing tips for his pond filled with bass, crappie, catfish, and trout. We had full hook ups with a gorgeous view. This place was everything we were looking for and more. We had a group of nine for my brother’s bachelor party, and it turned out to be the perfect weekend getaway. We had the entire 90-acre site to ourselves, built a massive fire using fallen trees on the property, and set up nine individual $20 Amazon tents. There were wide open fields for playing sports, a nearby stream to freshen up and wash our cooking gear, and—surprisingly—no bugs at all. Our host, Solomon, was fantastic. He checked us in, gave us space for the rest of the weekend, and even brought a porta-potty right to our campsite. The stars at night were unbelievable—we saw countless shooting stars—and the peace and quiet made it feel like we were miles away from everything. This was our first time camping somewhere more private instead of a commercial campground, and I’d do it again every time. A few people with Verizon had service, while those with T-Mobile didn’t, but that was actually part of the charm. Overall, a 10/10 experience. Can’t wait to go back!

We had such a special weekend camping on Robert's land. Pictures don't do it justice. It is jaw dropping beautiful and very private. Robert is the best hip camp host we've ever had and we've used hip camp for years. He is reasonable, flexible, and very considerate. The outhouse is extremely clean, and he provides firewood for purchase, a fire pit, wash stand for dishes, and a wood countertop perfect for your camp grill to sit on. The location is primo with lots of cute little towns around and hiking trails right off his property. We are definitely making an annual trip here.

The campsite is clean, spacious, and has such a peaceful atmosphere. My friends and I had an amazing time sitting by the fire, enjoying the fresh air, and taking in the beautiful views. What I really appreciate about Wahl Dairy Farm is how welcoming and well-maintained everything is—it makes camping easy and enjoyable. My friends loved it just as much as I did, and we’re already talking about coming back again. Highly recommend this spot whether you’re going solo, with family, or with friends. My 11-year-old daughter and I camped on Greg’s Cedar Lot site in our truck camper, and it was absolutely fantastic. A short path through the forest leads to a secluded, peaceful clearing with a level spot for camping, a perfectly placed fire pit, and breathtaking star-gazing at night. We added the firewood option and were impressed with the high-quality, bone-dry hardwood provided. Even with our 12.5-foot-high truck camper, the tree-lined path offered plenty of clearance. This site truly felt like a private oasis — we can’t recommend it highly enough!

Weekend Trip to Riverside Camping Site
This is a very nice location, only about 11/2 miles from Whitney Point but very private. We were the only people there, had not trouble getting our 17 foot trailer in on gravel pad. We hauled our water but there is the spigot about 200 feet from where the 30 amp service is. A supple of dry wood and nice fire ring we made good use of, river was drought low but still hooked couple smallmouth bass and a several giant chub minnows. Saw couple three bald eagles fly though, lots of blue jays and king fishers sounding off. A very good spot, recommend for privacy and convenience, town is close but it doesn’t feel that way
