Not suitable for parties or loud groups. For generations, the majestic waterfall has been revered for its spectacular beauty. It’s considered a sacred site central to local land rematriation work with the Kanienkeha:ka. Coursing between two outcroppings in a deep ravine, the waterfall crashes down over mossy rock shelves into emerald swimming holes and through dramatic clay beds. It’s one of those extraordinarily beautiful spots on earth that make you feel like you are in another world. It's about a 10 minute hike to the waterfall where you can spend the day swimming, exploring the clay beds and looking for fossils in the 280 million year old gorge. In the evening, make a campfire and fall asleep under the stars listening to the river below. The hike is steep and appropriate footwear is required. All hiking is at your own risk. Although your path to the waterfall is private and the waterfall is on private property, there may be other guests or locals that access the waterfall further down the road. There is no glass or alcohol allowed at the falls. Be aware that you may hear your camping neighbors in the woods. For this reason, we ask that you don’t play amplified music and keep noise down after 10pm to enjoy the sounds of frogs, crickets, owls, and night songs of the countryside At the entrance to the campsites there is a barn community room with a charging station, cold water sink, fridge, coffee maker, cookware, and a port-a-potty. There are 5 gallon solar shower bags that you can use at your campsite. You are responsible for filling them and putting them in the sun to heat the water. This is a leave no trace site. Take all your trash with you when you leave. Bring your own biodegradable soap for dishes and toilet paper for the port-a-potty! Firewood is available onsite for $1 per log. The Schoharie Valley is said to be the most fertile valley east of the Mississippi. It is still wild, unspoiled country and there are many local farms stands with fresh produce and organic meat close by. Within a 5 miles radius is a general store, Scrumpy Ewe Cidery, Panther Creek Arts, Rooted Movement, the Sap Bush Country Store and Café, and Mustang Valley (a wild mustang sanctuary). Nearby hikes include Looking Glass Pond and Vroman's Nose, and others.

All require a beautiful, bucolic trek of 150-350 yards from the roadside parking--ensuring the quiet, natural experience. During the day times, you may see or hear farm work. At night it's lusciously dark and serenely quiet. You'll hear owls hoot, frogs croak, crickets chirp, foxes yowl and coyotes howl! In June and July the fields and trees light up like Christmas with fireflies, and you'll see the stars. During the week is the absolute best time--the local hot spots (or cooling down spots!) are much quieter, and all our campsites have reduced weekday rates. If you can, take advantage by adding a Thursday or Sunday night to a weekend stay. We've got an awesome, easy hiking trail on adjacent Nature Conservancy land. It meanders through woodlands, around rock ledges, through wetlands (on a 600' of boardwalk) and ends at a beautiful stream and pond with a gigantic beaver dam. Not far from here are numerous well-marked hiking trails (including the Appalachian Trail (with famous Bash Bish Falls) and several offshoots (Sage's Ravine, Race Brook Falls), Bartholomew's Cobble, Umpacheenee Falls, and others). Also in the neighborhood are opportunities for canoeing, kayaking, swimming, rock climbing, gavel-road and country-road biking, and pretty much any outdoor activity/adventure opportunity. Or... you can just chill and relax, sleep, or read the day away! Love food? This is Farm-to-Table for real! Never so close--the table's AT the farm! Bring your cooking gear and get some of our wicked fresh organic food--veggies, chops, sausages, eggs, bacon, granola, yogurt, etc. Sear yourself up a real treat! We are a homestead and small campground devoted to the principles of organic farming and self-reliance. This was built as a personal vacation retreat and we gladly share it now with adventurers and romantics! 40 Private Acres - Fire-pits, comfortable outdoor furniture, and plenty of room to roam will make this unique stay memorable, relaxing, with absolute privacy with stunning views. The bespoke wooden Tower boasts 360 degree views of the surroundings. It is built on piers and has windows on the perimeter. A large table, outdoor chairs on the 2nd Level platform is an ideal space for gathering or picnicking. The 3rd enclosed level is furnished with a built in brand new queen bed and long custom built-in couch with a bar table and 4 chairs. Small fridge and Fan on site. No Bathroom in Tower. The Cabin is fully equipped, applianced, and is furnished with a Full Bed in the Loft, 2 Twins in a Trundle Daybed, and a Cot and Blow Up are available. Full Kitchen, Shower, Toilet in the Bathroom. There is electric heat, AC and a ceiling fan. Kitchen is fully loaded and there are plenty of clean linens, blankets, and pillows. The 40 Acres are Pastured and Open but Wooded all around in every direction. There are no cut trails at the Retreat and as it is thickly wooded, we encourage our guests to come visit us at Slateville Farm where we have over 8 miles of our own trails, swimming holes, and our ever flowing cold spring. Enjoy any of the many national park trails within the Green Mountains or Adirondacks. Lake George, Merck Forest, Schroon Lake, Lake St. Catherine, Bomoseen are all nearby as well as the Battenkill River and the Mettowee for fishing. If you are a winter visitor, plenty of ski resorts are a little over an hour away like Stratton, Bromely, Okemo, or Killington to name a few. Come by and visit us down the road at Slateville Farm to enjoy our fresh produce/eggs, over 8 miles of private hiking trails, and numerous swimming holes. Brought my girlfriend here as a little surprise trip for her bday and she absolutely loved it!! I was a little nervous about the weather but it ended up being so cozy inside the Yurt with the snowfall outside. Such a nice and relaxing stay with wonderful hosts that accommodates to all of your needs. Was so relieving to be able to pack nice and light and just hangout. We had everything we needed! Awesome hosts and a an awesome place. Ed made sure we had plenty of wood the entire time and was always available if we needed anything!

I do wish that the site photos were a little more specific to the site and was able to make out the differences a little but easier before booking, but the site we ended choosing was perfect. The portapotty was close by and very clean Definitely considering the same site again or even one of the bigger ones in the future (will be returning for the annual Sheep and Wool festival hopefully!) or even coming back in warmer weather to enjoy the animals and property more.

What an amazing find!!!! Super clean, well stocked, comfortable seating and bed. Beautiful location, was amazing to sit outside and listen to the stream, wander over to it and be mesmerized by the cascades. The wood stove heated the cabin right up and the fire pit under the night stars was another treat. Outhouse was clean and I loved the motion light that came on when you entered. Brought our 5 gallon jug of water and there is a shelf over half the sink to set it on and made cooking and clean up a breeze. Propane lamp lit the cabin up at night. Felt like we were staying in a luxurious Airbnb not camping as every need we had Rebecca had already met. Right down to the dog bed and treats for our dog. Highly recommend!!!

A true wilderness experience. Base camp is an old Catskill farmhouse built late 19th century but first deeded 1820. Sits at the base of Evergreen Mountain bordered on three sides by tumbling water: West Kill Creek, Herdman Brook, and Haring Brook. Operated as a hunting and fishing lodge for decades - rainbow, brown, heron, kingfishers, eagles, larks , deer, bear, mink, beaver, bobcat - all there, right out the door, literally. You don't know what's going to come through your camp. The actual camp site itself is the ultimate in social distancing. As close to pure wilderness as it gets. No vehicles allowed at site. From an easily accessible parking space, it's a mildly uphill ten minute hike through magical meadows deep into a hidden mountain valley in the midst of 250,000 acres. Utter privacy. The only sounds being the wind, the birds, yourself, and Herdman Brook rushing along a few yards east of your site. Once again no vehicles are allowed at the campsite itself. At one time, yes, but we needed to disallow it because the property was being torn up, and the beauty of the site is that it's so pristine. This is not glamping. No cabin. No platform. Need tent, tarp, or hammock, and you will sleep under more stars than you can possibly imagine. Fire ring, cooking grate, water bucket This is true wilderness camping. You're off the grid at site - no cell service - but wifi available if necessary on front porch of main house aka base camp. 10 a.m. check in. 3 p.m. checkout. Please send ETA when possible. Campers ought to be aware that black bears live in these mountains., although you're not likely to see one unless it's running away from you. If you're really nervous bring bear spray, but you're not likely to need it. I literally chased one off our porch not a month ago. I would appreciate your purchasing human waste bags from me at base camp when you arrive. I'll have them here for $3.00/bag. Feel free to buy your own. You should also bring FIRE STARTER to make your life easier. We sell firewood as well - 7 logs/$10. As with the waste bags, we would appreciate buying the firewood directly from us. Wonderful hikes - one to a waterfall - trail head at end of Spruceton Rd. Hunter Brook, Devil's Notch, Fire Tower atop Hunter Mountain, Ridge of West Kill Mountain West Kill Brewery and Spruceton Inn Bed and Bar each half mile up the road. Civilized respites. 4 campers preferred. 6 possible. One more thing: DOGS. We have two: a 13 year old female whatever and a shepherd-husky mix, 4 years old, also female. They are quite friendly and docile, although the shepherd looks intimidating, and both roam the property at will 2-3 times/day. We would prefer you not bring your dog, however, if you must, please be certain it is well behaved 4.5 miles up County Rte 6 to 1833 Spruceton Rd., NY 12492 Old white farmhouse. On left. Coach lights. American flag. Welcome sign. Look for Baker Rd. Bridge directly opposite on right Stop at house for check in and guide to site. And Drive Carefully! PS: Pack it in. Pack it out. Please leave campsite as pristine as you found it.

Two minute walk from your car, and a five minute walk to a swimming pond and a composting toilet outhouse. Near Chatham, New York where there is a brewery, cheese shop, bakery, restaurants, and a movie theatre. We are half an hour from Hudson, and in the midst of plentiful Berkshire and Hudson Valley hiking, biking and sightseeing opportunities. Early check-in and late check-out are often fine; just ask. *Special note for winter campers: depending on both snowfall and what you are driving, the parking locations may change. If we can, we will be happy to either ferry you via our 4WD, or help you carry your stuff in. The winter is really fun and beautiful. It's really nice here and we're happy to share it. Named during the pandemic, "Camp COVID Site 19" was born out of our desire to camp, as we weren't able to go camping anywhere! This camp is the back half of our property, located in the village of Tannersville. Camp is divided from our personal yard by a fence. The camp is also completely fenced in once the driveway gates are closed, allowing your pets to safely be off leash if you wish! A long stone driveway leads to camp, with a flat spot to park your skoolie, motorhome, or vehicle. There is a creek running along the entire back side of our property, outside of the fenced in area, which you can access by walking a few feet though the gates under the Camp COVID sign. We have a new bon fire pit in the center of camp, and fires are allowed as long as there is no burn ban in effect. Firewood is on site, and can be added on for $10 per night. We have 2 water hook ups and one 15 amp electric hook up on site, we just ask that you do not run an A/C unit as it will trip our main breaker. There is a dump station at North South Lake State Park and Campground only minutes away in Haines Falls. Instructions and rules are posted in the bath house which has an on demand hot water shower and a composting toilet. There is a garbage can for your convienece which is located in the shed which must be kept closed to avoid black bears visiting! There is a covered dried in area to the left of the shed. We have a half barrel charcoal grill with a flat top griddle as well as several grill grates. One of the grill grates also fits over the fire pit if you prefer fire cooking! There is an RV on site that will not be occupied during your stay, please do not enter, thank you! Come and stay and say hi!

Our historic and peaceful property is yours to explore! You can swim in the pond, take casual strolls around the property, enjoy the campfire at night, bike for miles on scenic country roads, and use this site as a jumping off point to discover all the beer, wine, cheese, concerts, festivals, hiking, kayaking, restaurants, shopping and more that the greater Capital Region has to offer! According to a few sources we've consulted, the Mohican people (Eastern Algonquian family of tribes - not to be confused with the Mohawk, a distinctly different tribe) were the indigenous occupants of the land where our farm is now located. Historians note that the name Mohican is from the indigenous word meaning "water that flows in two directions." Most Mohicans were driven into western NY and Canada when the Revolutionary War broke out. Local history indicates that the first white occupants to build here were the Hawley Family, in 1790. Parts of the farmhouse date to this era. Outbuildings were added through the decades and centuries, and the land was used as a dairy farm, among other ventures, by previous owners. We purchased the property in 2021 in hopes of providing more space, nature and outdoor living for our two little ones. We have two fields dedicated to Christmas trees, as well as apple, pear and cherry trees, and we've had successful garlic harvests to share with neighbors, family, friends, and at local farmers' markets. With three private sites deep in the Catskills, this special land has a variety of mature trees, open meadows with ferns and dogwood stands, remnants of an old apple orchard, trails across old rock walls and mountain streams through gently sloping topography, and abundant birds, frogs, newts, and other wildlife. Plus one of the best swimming ponds in all of the Catskills! There are three sites: one tucked into a meadow in a forest clearing, another under a hemlock grove deeper in the woods, and a third reserved for Long Path thru-hikers who come down from the mountains for a break, which can also be overflow. All are off-grid and rustic but close enough to the house and parking area to have convenience, and far enough—and hidden out of view—to offer real privacy. (About a 4-minute walk from your shared toilet/supply/storage shed by driveway.) Tent area has cleared flat pads for two small tents. Location is far enough from things that you can walk a minute into the woods and feel lost to civilization, yet only two miles of paved road from downtown Windham and all that the cozy resort town has to offer. Makes a great basecamp for exploring the rest of the Northern Catskills, or a hideaway to stay and get lost in. Hike miles of trails and old logging roads in the Elm Ridge Wild Forest, starting literally steps from your campsite. Swim in the large spring-fed pond, or just watch the colorful koi swim. Sit around the fire and reflect on the day’s adventures. Or just take in the wide-open views of distant mountains and starry skies. Note: the only "Kitchen available" (Hipcamp's wording) is a grill over firepit. Also, toilet is a bucket-style dry composting toilet with urine diversion inside a protected shed. Camp site is a short hike along private trails from parking/shed area. Depending on weather/season, it's sometimes muddy.

A true wilderness experience. Base camp is an old Catskill farmhouse built late 19th century but first deeded 1820. Sits at the base of Evergreen Mountain bordered on three sides by tumbling water: West Kill Creek, Herdman Brook, and Haring Brook. Operated as a hunting and fishing lodge for decades - rainbow, brown, heron, kingfishers, eagles, larks , deer, bear, mink, beaver, bobcat - all there, right out the door, literally. You don't know what's going to come through your camp. The actual camp site itself is the ultimate in social distancing. As close to pure wilderness as it gets. No vehicles allowed at site. From an easily accessible parking space, it's a mildly uphill ten minute hike through magical meadows deep into a hidden mountain valley in the midst of 250,000 acres. Utter privacy. The only sounds being the wind, the birds, yourself, and Herdman Brook rushing along a few yards east of your site. Once again no vehicles are allowed at the campsite itself. At one time, yes, but we needed to disallow it because the property was being torn up, and the beauty of the site is that it's so pristine. This is not glamping. No cabin. No platform. Need tent, tarp, or hammock, and you will sleep under more stars than you can possibly imagine. Fire ring, cooking grate, water bucket This is true wilderness camping. You're off the grid at site - no cell service - but wifi available if necessary on front porch of main house aka base camp. 10 a.m. check in. 3 p.m. checkout. Please send ETA when possible. Campers ought to be aware that black bears live in these mountains., although you're not likely to see one unless it's running away from you. If you're really nervous bring bear spray, but you're not likely to need it. I literally chased one off our porch not a month ago. I would appreciate your purchasing human waste bags from me at base camp when you arrive. I'll have them here for $3.00/bag. Feel free to buy your own. You should also bring FIRE STARTER to make your life easier. We sell firewood as well - 7 logs/$10. As with the waste bags, we would appreciate buying the firewood directly from us. Wonderful hikes - one to a waterfall - trail head at end of Spruceton Rd. Hunter Brook, Devil's Notch, Fire Tower atop Hunter Mountain, Ridge of West Kill Mountain West Kill Brewery and Spruceton Inn Bed and Bar each half mile up the road. Civilized respites. 4 campers preferred. 6 possible. One more thing: DOGS. We have two: a 13 year old female whatever and a shepherd-husky mix, 4 years old, also female. They are quite friendly and docile, although the shepherd looks intimidating, and both roam the property at will 2-3 times/day. We would prefer you not bring your dog, however, if you must, please be certain it is well behaved 4.5 miles up County Rte 6 to 1833 Spruceton Rd., NY 12492 Old white farmhouse. On left. Coach lights. American flag. Welcome sign. Look for Baker Rd. Bridge directly opposite on right Stop at house for check in and guide to site. And Drive Carefully! PS: Pack it in. Pack it out. Please leave campsite as pristine as you found it.
