The best luxury RV camping near Cold Spring

About 60 miles north of New York City, this Hudson River village is ringed by state parks. Visitors here can explore marshlands, vast forests, mountains, and, of course, the river itself. The historic small town is a fun destination for summer camping and autumn hiking when the brilliant foliage makes the vistas that much prettier. The Constitution Marsh Audubon Center is just south of town. This nature preserve is excellent turf for bird watching and kayaking the inlets among the rushes. Hudson Highlands State Park Preserve is to the north, a 6,000-acre forest where visitors can hike, fish, and hunt. The steep climb to Breakneck Ridge rewards hikers with panoramic views of the Hudson River Valley. Just off the shore is the tiny Bannerman Island, the site of an abandoned castle. Across the Hudson River is Storm King State Park. Hiking trails loop through this forest, with rocky paths leading to the top of Storm King Mountain. Boaters can launch into the river at the nearby Donahue Memorial Park. Campers can pitch a tent at the Fahnestock State Park, just 9 miles from Cold Spring. The sandy beach along Canopus Lake is a lovely spot for swimming. Rental kayaks are available. Further south in Harriman State Park, Beaver Pond Campground has camping along Lake Welch. A swimming beach and boat make the park popular with families if a bit crowded. There's a limited number of RV sites, but for full hook-ups, trailers should head south to one of the area's RV parks. The Hudson River Greenway Water Trail is an excellent resource for kayakers. The map gives the exact locations of launch sites along a 256-mile stretch of the river, plus amenities such as camping.

All lodging sites have heating for your comfort and are available year round! The River's Edge campsites sit on the shoreline of the Delaware River at the western edge of New York State overlooking the mountains of Pennsylvania. Our canvas tents and open air platforms perch between the river and the former Delaware & Hudson Canal which was once was used to transport raw goods by barge to New York City via the 'port' of Port Jervis. The remnants of the canal walls are throughout the property including a 300 person theater which we created to both preserve and feature this industrial history. It also makes a great place for an event or a movie night. Today, the original canal towpath, along which barges would be pulled and floated downstream, is a trail that links all of the campsites over 5 acres and at the furthest end an eel fishing camp that is in operation from June to October (say 'hi' to Jim). In the early 1900s, the train replaced the canal as the primary method of moving goods into New York and if you are lucky — you will hear the train rumble by along the river on the Pennsylvania side. There is something spectacular in the absolute still and grandness of the river, the mountains and the ongoing industrial history of the valley. It is a reminder of the way things used to be. The farmhouse and cabins are located opposite the campsites on other side of route 97. Next to them are 50 acres of wild forest to hike and explore. These accommodations are great for guests who want more amenities but still with easy access to river. Pair campsites and cabins so that all your guests have their best experience. This Delaware River front RV campsite is not for everyone. Stay away if you want lots of planned activities and golf cards whizzing by all the time! Stay away if you hate rafting down an amazing river! Stay away if you love hearing loud music from 5 campsites away! Stay away if beautiful river-front scenery is too boring for you. Stay away if campfires by the river during a star filled night is just too mundane. Stay away if you hate it when campsite staff make every effort to ensure your stay is great. Yeah, this place sucks, stay away! But seriously, what's not to love!
