Thank you to all who have enjoyed this amazing property and provided a review or rating!!! On the upper Bad River, I have a special location that I'd like to share for others to enjoy. I was fortunate to acquire this land 20 years ago and now that I have retired from the United States Air Force, I can dedicate time to create peaceful campsites along the river. This land was originally railroad property as the railroad companies bought much land in the late 1800's to have options to place their railroads. There is still a railroad track nearby but it has been abandoned since 2015 and it makes a nice hiking path along the river for many miles to the north. There are 3 waterfalls nearby and I will have many signs leading to the waterfalls. There are 4 total campsites on the property, 1 site you can drive to (Eagle Pines), and 3 tent sites that require 1/8 mile hike to 2 sites, and a 1/4 mile hike to the other hike-in site.

The property is located on the Manitowish River, Heart of Vilas County bike trail, and Iron County snowmobile trails. Campsites are located on the west end of the property, in proximity to all the activities, and include full hookups, a picnic table and fire ring. Bathroom is available for campers, however there is no shower. Campers get a discount on rental equipment. Wow! What a magical place. I had an amazing time camping at Eagle Pines On The Bad River and spending a gorgeous exploring Deans land. He’s clearly put much time and care into building and maintaining the trails. The map, signs and ribbons were very helpful for navigating the area. It was an absolute delight and adventure hiking the trails and wandering around the three waterfalls. Dean was also an excellent host. He was incredibly accommodating, responded quickly to my messages and provided very detailed instructions and recommendations upon booking. I highly recommend these sites to anyone wanting a peaceful, somewhat rustic and secluded spot to stargaze, canoe/kayak, hike and commune with the land and water. I hope to visit again soon.

The river was low at this time of the year, but still managed to get out on the canoe provided and that was a great surprise to have available. We even saw a pair of swans!

This place is great. Close to everything. The staff is friendly and helpful with great tips on where to go and what to eat. Brandon, Chris and Jeremy really stepped up to make our experience great. We were a short drive from the mountain bike trails and a short walk from the river for a paddle.

Might not be for the kind of camper who just wants to sit at their site all day but if you're lookong for an adventure down the river or to get some mileage on the beautiful bike trails then this is an AMAZING spot. The campsite was magical! If you're looking for a beautiful place to really get off the beaten path, this is a great place to do it. The river was nice for a cooling swim on a hot day. Dean takes very good care of the property. I could occasionally hear voices off in the distance from other campers and their dogs, but I never saw another person in the day and night I spent there.

This campsite was very nice because it was large and had many trees around it. We appreciated having access to the lodge. We arrived late the first night and decided to enjoy the indoor fireplace instead of making a fire at our campsite and it was so nice! We were also able to get our morning coffee inside. We also appreciated that it's directly across from a put in on the Manitowish River so it was simple to go paddling.

It's easy to see why this place is booked every weekend in the summer up here. This spot is beautiful and very well maintained. The site has a number of flat open areas for choosing where to set up a tent and the parking pad is also pretty level if you car camp like we do. The entire site is also sandy, so getting tent stakes in would be a breeze. The host, Dean, did inform us that he was away and wouldn't be able to stock the firewood, so not having firewood there when I arrived was not a huge shock. Very appreciative that he communicated that ahead of time, along with his thorough communications outside of the firewood. Due to me and my partner getting sick the weekend we had planned on camping, only I made the trip to the site just to check it out and I did not stay overnight, but I can imagine it would have been a very restful spot as it was a quiet spot with great access to the a night sky.

Beautiful site, view of the river right outside the door, great hosts, dog friendly...canoe rental got us out on the Manotowish River for a few beautiful paddles. This is a place you can't wait to come back to, a private site, beautifully wooded, full hook up and the river right out your front door.

Nice site on Butternut Lake! Great firepit and views of a quiet cove on the lake. Plenty of room for the dogs to play and hang out. I wish it had a dock as fishing from the shore was pretty much impossible with all of the lilly pads. We did not use the porta potty since we are self-contained and didn't need it. There is some firewood available but you will need an axe or a splitting maul. I split some but found a great place on the way to the site in Park Falls that sells bulk firewood. We would definitely come back again, I would give it 5 stars if it had a dock and would certainly pay more.

The land is beautiful, my actual dream. Quick walk to the nearby bar. 8-10ish minutes to Dollar General/gas stations for ice & supplies if need-be. Took a nap out on the dock while my dog dug around the river. No cell service whatsoever, my phone went into SOS mode actually, couldn’t send or receive anything (yay, just letting yall know don’t expect to be on the grid while you’re here) We loved it. So, so peaceful.
