Need a quiet, secluded getaway? Our off-grid cabin is on approximately 10 acres of private woods. As you turn off the main road into our cabin's driveway, you will begin to understand why this is our hidden gem. Maybe you will hear the horned owl at night or see an eagle while you kayak. Your adventure or a peaceful vacation awaits. The 450-square-foot cabin has a queen bed in the loft and two cots that can accommodate more guests. Guests must be able to climb a wooden log ladder. The kitchen has a two-burner stove and oven that can hold a 9x13 pan. Although we do not have running water, we do have a hand-washing sink and a sink for washing dishes. We also provide you with plenty of water for washing and drinking during your stay. As it is well water, you may want to take your own drinking water, if you prefer. We also have dishes, utensils, hot dog sticks, fry pie makers, pots and pans, a tripod grill for over the fire, and a small charcoal grill (bring your own charcoal). You will also want to bring a cooler to keep any food cold. Outside, we have a fire pit, wood to collect or purchase, and a hammock to fully enjoy your stay. Our bathroom is an outhouse and has been described as the “cleanest outhouse in Michigan.” Our latest addition is a seasonal rustic outdoor shower! We provide water that is heated by solar power (or you can heat some on the stove to hurry the process!) The shower is seasonal - only available from May to September. Within 1/4 mile is the St. Joe River which is a great place for kayaking. We also have kayaks and quads for rent. We also have some short trails on the property and a railroad bed adjacent to the cabin area. Our cabin is powered by a small and very quiet Honda generator. It is super easy to start. An amazing place to stay if you are looking for a private rustic getaway! My boyfriend and I picked this site to take our 9mo old puppy camping for the first time and it was an incredible experience. We did a lot of hiking, cooking, and relaxing. We saw deer, possums, and turkeys! Just remember to do tick checks!

My husband and I travel all over the country and we have stayed at unique locations over the years. This was a unanimous vote for our very favorite. The setting is something straight out of the cinema. You have 360 views of nature and serenity. The cabin is an art installation. It’s phenomenal. The attention to detail is incredible. The smell of it is something I’d wear like perfume. There is no power and low reception and that’s just what we were looking for. The bathroom is a short walk from the cabin. We brought cute little camping lights that made our stay all the more magical. The sounds of the forest around you and the way the sun and moon both shine down in the woodland is magnificent. We weren’t even checked out before deciding we need to plan a trip back. 10/10.

19 nights at Duck Lake Wooded RV Retreat
I chose to stay at The Only Spot as it was within 15 min or so of my relatives and some friends. We were on an extended trip to MI to escape the southern heat. So when my husband had to fly back for work this spot worked great as there aren't a lot of camping options around. It is a quiet area so it's a great place to kick back and relax with a good book.(You do hear the Crystal race on Saturday night but its not bad) I enjoyed seeing the sunrise at Duck Lake in the morning then going to see the sunset at Crystal. I also enjoyed having the windows open and having the cool breeze from the lake even though it was across the street. The ice cream at Ike's was great. The little store in Crystal I found some food items I needed along with refilling my propane tank. I kayaked at the lake as we brought our own. It's a small lake but peaceful as there is not alot of boat traffic. Jennifer was a great host and was responsive to the few question I had. I would stay here again.

Great, peaceful spot with easy access to two lakes! Very peaceful with lots of wildlife and all the necessities you need (sewer, water and electric hookup). Very large lot so you have room to spread out! Firepit and wood provided for cozy bonfires. Would highly recommend and look forward to coming back!

It is a beautiful property with tons of privacy. The walk from the parking area was a little longer than we expected, but it was nice. The property was a little overgrown, we were told the was a problem with the mower. If I were to start again I would plan to spend more time at the property. We had other things we were doing the weekend we stayed and didn't get a chance to hire around and explore.

Beautiful secluded sites! For all the foliage, the bugs were minimal. Site 10 was nicely shaded for the majority of the day. The outhouse was clean, private, and had no smell whatsoever for being an outhouse. We would definitely come back here!!

This is a very nice lot with electric sewage and water. Front yard has many trees and a fire pit. Duck Lake and dock directly across road for easy access. We were there for only 2 nights and didn’t bring kayaks but next time for sure!! Hostess Jennifer very accommodating and it was a peaceful and quiet stay.

This camping location is beautiful! While there’s a total of 11 or so sites, they’re well spread out, and most of the sites have privacy. Directions from the host takes you to a parking (about 10 vehicles), then you need to follow signs for camping. The path to camp sites as well as the site numbers are well-marked. Outhouse was clean and well maintained. It was a downhill path to get to it though. Hosts are responsive and helpful. Town of Grass Lake is about 10 minutes, it has gas stations and grocery store (in case you forget something). Overall, there camp sites are beautiful, have enough privacy and are close enough to town. I definitely recommend it! Only thing is we weren’t expecting a 5 minute walk from the parking to the campsite. With so much to unload from our car, it got really tiring unloading and reloading everything. So it’s not ideal to have a lot of camping gear with you (they did provide a small cart to carry things).

We loved our stay at Sandy’s cabin! We’ve stayed in cabins all over the world, and who knew the perfect one was only an 2-hour drive away! Every little detail has been thoughtfully attended to. The cabin is warm and inviting with any item you might need. Bathroom facilities were so clean, and the property is a dream for bird watching and wandering with your dog. It was hard to decide whether to hang out in the sunroom/porch or outside in the lovely, quiet forest setting. Great fire pit area, and dark skies for star gazing. We can’t wait to return!

Learn more about this land: Our little slice of heaven is nestled back off the country road- with over 30 acres, we have a couple of old horse pastures and barns, a beautiful grassy area that has a large fire pit and a natural pond. Some wood is provided for your initial fire; more can be purchased from us for $5 per bundle. We have basic electricity, a country swing, a dock if you would like to fish- we also have nice grassy walking paths and a wooded area as well. Our land is very peaceful and safe. The perfect space to unplug and unwind and to recharge yourself. While we do only consider our space one site, it is large enough for groups as big as 30 ppl, with plenty of room to set up tents in your desired areas. Campers and trailers are welcome, with limited size requirements and space; we also restrict where they can be parked. We are very close to several rivers in the area, so bring your kayaks, or inner tubes and float down the rivers for a peaceful afternoon. We’re not too far from Lake Michigan (easy day trip), Kalamazoo or Lansing, Several breweries in the area- (Battle Creek, Kalamazoo and Marshall) as well as a casino (Marshall). We are less than a mile off Old 27, close to 127 and 5 miles to I-69 DeWitt Exit. Walking trails are cut through the woods and meadow providing ability to see deer, rabbits, dragonflies, butterflies, birds, cranes, blue and green heron and native flowers. Ceiling height it just at 6 ft meaning those taller than that need to Duck under beams. Please beware. *summer info : Lake can only be viewed from the upstairs of shack due to tall reeds or by way of walking path which is still under construction partially handmade from scrap lumber . It’s about 2/3 complete with newly built dock, sections (see pics). The path is usually partially underwater until mid May so please check if you plan to kayak you will use at your own risk. *:It’s too mucky to swim right off shore but you can Kayak out to the swimming area. Kayak use is allowed as long as waiver is signed. Closed toed/water shoes recommended . Potential for 4 guests which is tight, or more if part of your crew wanted to set up a tent. *Fall/winter info: Use of our guest bathroom is permitted during colder months -just ask!. We bought this property in 2012 and have built several buildings and forged paths throughout the 32 acres. Our road is part of the North Country Trail, a footpath stretching over 4,600 miles from Middlebury in central Vermont to Lake Sakakawea State Park in central North Dakota. While tearing down the existing house, we constructed two bedrooms in the pole barn for a quick living space. Once settled in the pole barn, we a built a small log cabin with already felled timbers from the local woods, except for the box frame which was purchased from the local Amish. Prior to building our permanent log cabin home, this small cabin was our camp site and is now being rented to people that want to relax and enjoy the outdoors. In the middle of the woods, we created a campground to be enjoyed by hikers and on the North side of our property is a tree line between two fields that is a great small camper/tent camping spot.
