Partly run by a generator, heat will be supplied by a space heater that we would like turned down to 66 at night (heating blankets provided if that is too cold). . Bathroom has a composting toilet. (Usually changed every 3rd guest). Ac is hooked to an extension cord . We provide a Battery pump shower where you have to fill the bag with water & foot pump sink like used at festivals. The shack isn’t perfectly air tight so you might encounter a few bugs however with Chickens around they are natural bug exterminators. Ceiling height it just at 6 ft meaning those taller than that need to Duck under beams. Please beware. *summer info : Lake can only be viewed from the upstairs of shack due to tall reeds or by way of walking path which is still under construction partially handmade from scrap lumber . It’s about 2/3 complete with newly built dock, sections (see pics). The path is usually partially underwater until mid May so please check if you plan to kayak you will use at your own risk. *:It’s too mucky to swim right off shore but you can Kayak out to the swimming area. Kayak use is allowed as long as waiver is signed. Closed toed/water shoes recommended . Potential for 4 guests which is tight, or more if part of your crew wanted to set up a tent. *Fall/winter info: Use of our guest bathroom is permitted during colder months -just ask!. Julie was a fantastic host! She checked in after our first night to see if we had everything we needed. We spent a weekend here as part of a greater road trip cross-country and we had a swell time. The views of the lake are gorgeous and the loft sleeping accommodations were super cozy! After we left we realized that we left some near and dear prized possessions (a special hat and one single ear bud) and Julie was kind enough to reach out and then mail these items to us! We are super thankful and do kindly recommend staying

We loved our time in the Tiny Love Shack! It's definitely tiny, just enough room for the two of us and our big dog. It felt surprisingly private for being so close to neighbors. It was a bit musty in November, but that's to be expecting of glamping!

We loved our night with the 3 Happy Turtles! Audrey greeted us and was so welcoming and nice. She even gave us fun recommendations for food nearby and offered to do a bonfire or movie night. So sweet! The spot by the barn is so magical, peaceful and quiet. The sunset was beautiful and just what we needed on our trip across the country!

3 nights at Thousand S.’s Land

Our goal was to find a place we could wake up in the woods, and this was the spot! Nice having coffee on the deck overlooking the property and ending the day w a fire. We were pretty self-sufficient, but my impression was that if we needed something we could just message to ask. I would have liked to be more social w. our hosts but just didn’t have the energy; the whole point of us being there was for a much needed respite. Also we were there during the work week and they were busy going about their business. We stayed in the treehouse and didn’t need the heat even, it is pretty well insulated which also cuts the train noise others commented on. Super cute goat! Very personable turkey! Definitely the woods go back a fair ways for exploring. We found good nearby hikes too; the big loop around the lake at Metamora-Hadley was a really good route.

We had a great time and Pete was very accommodating. We had a surprise birthday party and had a beautiful site with space for everyone. Appreciated the ease of firewood available to purchase and extra chairs. The perfect place to relax and have a bonfire with friends.

My friend and I had a good time at Dori's place. Her property, and the surrounding countryside is beautiful, and right outside of Ann Arbor. We met her and she explained where we could camp. We didn't have too long to talk but she seemed very sweet. I would definitely return.

My husband and I parked our converted schoolie for 2 nights here. Our camping spot was wonderful- very private, beautiful, flat. We loved our time there. It was one of the best places we have camped on our 2 month trip. Unfortunately, we never met our host, Dori- next time…. (Though her communication was great.)

I really enjoyed my stay at Julie’s B52 “Love Shack.” My dog and I felt right at home. Julie provided everything we could need. The upstairs was so relaxing and peaceful. The outside grill and zero gravity chairs were perfect for enjoying a delicious meal and providing front-row seats to view the stars and moon. The outside shower was an experience and a first for me. I mistakenly thought I had put enough water in there, but ran out with my hair covered in shampoo. Luckily, I was able to rebound pretty quickly and enjoyed an ice-cold shower on an extraordinarily hot day for October. Overall, this place and space offered me exactly what I was looking for, and I look forward to revisiting it soon.

It was our first hipcamp, and it was wonderful. We paid for an earlier arrival and set-up in the NW corner of the backyard area. It was very quiet, peaceful and we had our dog off leash for the majority of the time. We visited the surrounding nearby metroparks on both days to take advantage of hiking and the Huron River. We walked our dog off leash on the beautiful camp farm property. My wife and oldest daughter visited with the goats, duck, and chickens inside the fenced in pen. The baby goats were so fluffy and soft. It was probably the most diverse wildlife camp I've ever had as well. Coyotes in the very distant crying and howling, owls hoot hooing, deer, a donkey (not wildlife) hee hawing at a neighboring farm, roosters (not wildlife) doing their thing. Thank you for opening up your beautiful property. We will be returning.

Our experience with Hipcamp was a little different than most, I’d imagine. This was our very first time using it, even though our group has been camping our whole lives. We were in Ann Arbor for a concert, and since all the hotels were booked, we decided to give Hipcamp a try and booked with Dori. At first, we thought we’d be tent camping, but plans changed and we ended up bringing an RV instead. Dori was incredibly quick to respond to any questions and very accommodating with our changes. Her directions were clear and easy to follow. The property itself was beautiful—set back off a semi-dirt road with a long driveway leading past her home, yard, barn, and a pasture where goats and chickens roam. We parked our RV near the woods behind the barn, which gave us a quiet and private spot even though there were other campers around. Getting to and from the concert was simple—we had no problem being picked up or dropped off by Uber. Overall, this was a wonderful first-time experience with Hipcamp, and we would absolutely return just to camp and enjoy Dori’s land again. We’re grateful this opened the door to more unique adventures ahead!

We loved our space and found it to be a nice quiet area. Friendly host and plenty of firewood to buy. There are mosquitos of course so bring spray. Property has goats behind a fence which we stopped to say hi to. Will definitely return
