The 3,510 acre forest was once the winter camping ground of the Piscataway Tribe because of the mild climate and abundance of game. Legend claims that there is a Native American burial ground within the forest... but it has yet to be found. Spooky! Equestrian, family and youth group campsites are available for your overnight stay. 19.5 miles of horseback riding, hiking and mountain biking trails weave through the forest. They pass a number of historical features, including the loblolly pine plantations that were planted by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930's, by a charcoal kiln, and through farm areas whose springs and streams were used to make moonshine!

For RV owners there is 50amp electric service in the barn. You will need an RV extension cord to access it. I have a 100 ft RV ext. cord but it can be farther than that depending on where you park. Note: For the winter months we are closed, we reopen in march. The furthest we are open at any given moment is about six months. We close when hunting season comes in during the fall. Description of camp: This is not a glampsite! There are limited utilities here. No Drinking water, just water for the fire. There is a self serve firewood store, you may also forage dead wood. Here only one group may camp at a time. The campsite is a big level hilltop clearing surrounded by acres of woods. There is stone driveway that leads to the site that gets you back into the woods. The driveway is wide enough for trucks, trailers, vans, etc. Since the site is up high it gets a great breeze which helps on warm days and gets good cell service. The campsite gets great sun and has shaded areas along the sides that make for good tent pitching. We have had people set up hammocks, tents, tarps, or camp in their vehicle. We provide a privy (outhouse), an outdoor showerroom/changing room, picnic tables, and a metal fire pit with grill rack that you can put in the fire pit if you wish to cook/grill over it. The woods are hilly so biking is not recomended. On the property we have 2+ miles of hiking trails. PLEASE feel free to contact us for any questions. Also please look at our pictures for a better idea of what we offer. Nearby Activities: A short drive from here will take you to Gettysburg, York, or Hanover. Codorus park offers great hiking and is next to a lake. There are many excellent restaurants and brewpubs nearby, including the award winning Warehouse Gourmet Bistro and Brewpub. For more information read our activities section to find out what other things we provide or have nearby that you can do. Pricing: We have a weeknight discount for the site which is 29 dollars (Sunday-Thurdsay nights). Friday night and Saturday night we charge 35 dollars. Any additional guests after five we charge 9.50 dollars per person. We allow up to 10 guests total. Rules: Extinguish camp fires that are unattended and to only make them in the designated fire pit, no noise past 9 o'clock, discharging of firearms and fireworks are prohibited, do not bring firewood (to prevent invasive bug spread), keep your pets attended/on a leash, clean up after your pets, no cutting down trees

Note: For the winter months we are closed, we reopen in march. The furthest we are open at any given moment is about six months. We close when hunting season comes in during the fall. Description of camp: This is not a glampsite! There are limited utilities here. No Drinking water, just water for the fire. There is a self serve firewood store, you may also forage dead wood. Here only one group may camp at a time. The campsite is a big level hilltop clearing surrounded by acres of woods. There is stone driveway that leads to the site that gets you back into the woods. The driveway is wide enough for trucks, trailers, vans, etc. Since the site is up high it gets a great breeze which helps on warm days and gets good cell service. The campsite gets great sun and has shaded areas along the sides that make for good tent pitching. We have had people set up hammocks, tents, tarps, or camp in their vehicle. We provide a privy (outhouse), an outdoor showerroom/changing room, picnic tables, and a metal fire pit with grill rack that you can put in the fire pit if you wish to cook/grill over it. The woods are hilly so biking is not recomended. On the property we have 2+ miles of hiking trails. PLEASE feel free to contact us for any questions. Also please look at our pictures for a better idea of what we offer. Nearby Activities: A short drive from here will take you to Gettysburg, York, or Hanover. What an amazing site!!! Thank you so much Curtis for being very responsive. This site was private and had plenty of space to spread out. Firewood was readily available, the outhouse was a plus and the drive from Montgomery county was a breeze. I 100% recommend this site to anyone who loves the outdoors and is looking for a beautiful campsite in the woods. We will be coming back real soon.

This ended up being our favorite stop on our ten day (ten different campsite) roadtrip! The dogs were a little overwhelming at first, jumping on our car and barking at us as we unpacked… but by morning we had made three new best friends 🐕 they slept by our tent through the night and protected us, they kept us company and my son loved playing with them. The pasture was well kept and they had the best portapotty I think I’ve ever been in. It didn’t smell at all (no idea how that’s possible) and had string lights, sanitizer, a mirror, etc. The sheep were a joy to wake up next to and pet- one came right up to the fence when we walked over! The alpaca was cute and the host communicated well too. Our family favorite!

I love this camp site and farm. The owners are really nice, welcoming, and helpful. The camp site is awesome - plenty of space and it's right by the creek. I love that it's wooded and feels secluded, even though Taneytown is only a few minutes away. The farm and property is picturesque, especially in the fall. It's seems like something more out of a movie than real life. We will definitely be back again :)

Weekend Trip to HUNTER'S PARK BY WASHINGTON, DC
Hunters Park at Mezza Luna Farm was awesome. We stayed in the T1 site. Plenty of room for multiple tents and cars. There's firewood for sale right by the site, which was very convenient. There was an outdoor sink at the site, which was nice (though in colder months the water is shut off). There's a porta potty that was very clean - maybe the cleanest portapotty I've ever seen. The farm is beautiful with lots of horses to see. You're allowed to go visit them in the stables. There's plenty of paths to walk around the property if you want to go on a hike. Keith came by to visit - very friendly and welcoming. One family in our group had a couple small children. They did fine and loved seeing the horses. Damascus is very close by - easy access to groceries if you need anything. We'll be back again!

Our stay at Bear Branch Creekside was seriously the best, start to finish! Benjamins communication was always prompt which made everything super easy. The whole site was clean and looked great. We had a blast exploring the fun well kept walking trails, and the creek was the perfect spot to just chill—plus, our son had a field day fishing! The fire pit was a major plus, especially since they had those thoughtful extra cooking grates available. We totally fell in love with the owners' dog, Hopper, too! We had such a good time in Hangtown and are already dying to go back. 10/10 recommend!

Escape the chaos of everyday life and experience true relaxation at our hidden gem glamping site! The Indian Rail Trail, Charles County's most exciting recreational trail, is just a 7-minute drive from your tent. This paved, 13-mile-long, ten-foot-wide path is an excellent excursion for bikers of all ages, connecting the small town of Indian Head on the Potomac River to White Plains. The fairly level trail takes riders through mature forests, natural wetlands, and some farmland. During your stay, you can also take a 10-minute walk through the forest on our property to visit a serene creek. Your Signature campsite accommodates up to 6-10 campers. The basic booking includes space for 4 campers, with 2 sleeping on the Queen Bed in the platform safari tent and 2 sleeping in bags on the floor. The site also features a picnic table, fire pit, and Adirondack chairs where you can relax and stargaze at night. Atlantic Kayak Company is a 20-minute drive from the site, offering kayak rentals and guided expeditions. For families, Sky Zone Trampoline Park is a fun activity less than a 10-minute drive from the campsite. A Walmart is conveniently located about 10 minutes away for any supplies you may need, and local produce can be obtained on Wednesdays and Saturdays at the La Plata Farmer's Market (12 min drive) between April and November. The Road To Serenity: Our road is a quaint old country farm road made of grass and a few gravel patches here and there. It is a bit of a bumpy ride, so take it slow and easy as you make your way to our hidden getaway. There is one sharp left turn over a culvert and some dips and mild inclines, so low-sitting vehicles should definitely take it slow. The road narrows as you get closer to the site, but there are reflectors along the way to keep you on the right path. We highly recommend arriving before dark. Parking: Parking is on the grass meadow between the entrance to the meadow and the walking path to the campsite. Reflectors are in place to outline the parking area. Avoid driving beyond the parking area and down steep inclines in the meadow, as softer ground presents a risk for getting stuck. A gorilla wagon is available in the parking area to help transport your belongings to the campsite. Toilet and Shower Set-up: There is a privacy tent that contains a toilet seat over a bucket. Place a bag with absorbent materials in the bucket for your biological needs. A portable automatic shower providing hot water is also available. Pets: For the safety of your pets, ensure that they are treated for ticks prior to camping. Be sure to check for ticks before bringing pets into the tent. Noises and Sounds: This property is located in a rural community, and campers may occasionally experience common city noises such as airplanes flying overhead, distant traffic, or distant firearm shots. It is a great site for city dwellers who enjoy tranquility but not complete silence.
