There are open fields and some rough hiking trails (wear good shoes!) Small stream runs through the property and there are wild turkeys, deer and other wildlife about. This is a rustic site with picnic table, fire ring and chemical toilet. Pretty and peaceful. Plenty of room to pull in a motorhome, camper or pop up Convenient to most locations in Southern Maine and NH. Located near the center of town, there are stores and restaurants within a 5-minute drive. We’re less than a half mile from the ocean and about a mile from downtown Freeport so you can access the outlets or one of Freeports many festivities. Feeling snacky or need firewood? Bow Street Market is right around the corner. Fancy a coastal view? You can head over to Winslow or Wolfe’s Neck parks, both offering ocean access and seriously swoon-worthy vistas just minutes away. Winslow also has a boat launch for those wanting to kayak. Nestled just below an old granite quarry turned 35-acre nature preserve, this spot is for those who want a mix of forest magic, coastal breezes, and all the woodland creatures. Park your car and walk into the mossy wonderland of Maine woods, where you’ll pitch your tent on a bed of wood chips or moss beneath a thick canopy of trees. This hidden gem offers both adventure and relaxation. For the nature lovers, there are multiple hikes and trails nearby. The most convenient is the one behind your campsite. A short walk down the street and you can jump on the Quarry woods trail https://freeportconservationtrust.org/quarry-woods. From there you can literally walk into town for the marshmallows and chocolate. Look forward to coming back to the site to light a campfire and enjoy the solitude. Mountain Brook Hideaway has just become our favorite Hipcamp! This is what all Hipcamps should strive for. Beautiful, private location, with so many hiking trail options. Level parking area with power, picnic table, Adirondack chairs, kayaks and a pond! The perfect fire pit was awesome. One of the trees lit up at night! David and Laurie were perfect hosts. We will definitely be going back!

We LOVED this peaceful and pristine site. David and Laurie welcomed us in and were easy to reach. The sunrise and the sounds of wildlife added to the charm. Owners took great care and thought in this site. Level gravel site, fire pit with Adirondack chairs, new picnic table, and firewood on site for purchase through an app. The fairly lights in the tree just added to the night time ambiance. Oh, fresh eggs available, too! Because we have a reactive dog, Hipcamp gives us access to awesome, single sites like this. Would definitely return.

The site was clean level and a really nice setting. The host meet us on arrival and was very welcoming. Due to recent weather the cascade was dry but that that didn't take away from our stay at all. The setting is remote, quiet and made for a nice evening. We would recommend the site for a one-night stay or longer if you like peace and quiet.

Such a gem that we truly enjoyed exploring, our dogs loved playing and swimming at the waters edge and the string lights, chairs, and kayaks were such thoughtful touches; we loved exploring the pond with the kayaks. We weren’t able to meet our hosts due to inclement weather the day we were supposed to get there, but were able to communicate the entire time. Highly recommend

Weekend Trip to Mountain Brook Hideaway
Our stay at Mountain Brook Hideaway was absolutely incredible! From the moment we arrived, we were struck by how spacious, quiet, and private the site was—it felt like our own little retreat tucked away in nature. We loved having the water all to ourselves, which made mornings so peaceful and gave us plenty of opportunities to sit back and watch the birds flying over. Kayaking was one of our favorite parts of the trip. There were so many cool places to explore—hidden crevices, winding passages, and even several beaver lodges that the kids were so excited to discover. It really felt like a hidden adventure at every turn. Back at camp, the kids enjoyed hours in the hammock while our dog loved being able to roam freely and safely in the wide open space. Our hosts, David and Laurie, were wonderful. Before our trip, they even sent us information on local hiking trails, which we really appreciated—it made planning so much easier and added even more fun to our adventure. On site, they made sure everything was just right, and it was such a treat to be able to purchase firewood right at the campsite. We even got a dozen fresh eggs from their farm, which made breakfast around the campfire extra special. Everything about Mountain Brook Hideaway exceeded our expectations—the peace and quiet, the natural beauty, and the thoughtful touches from the hosts. We left feeling refreshed, happy, and already planning our next visit. This place is truly a gem!

Christine’s campsite was nicely laid out super maintained and the fire pit was very nice! The axe /star throwing game was a nice touch as well. We enjoyed the walking path to the beaver dam and the 300 yr old hemlock. Very peaceful back there as well. The site is semi private. Christine’s home is close by but far enough away for privacy. The site is next to their driveway and not too far from the road so you do hear an occasional car go by. But it wasn’t too intrusive. Overall a nice little spot and we enjoyed our time there.

The island was a beautiful spot. I went with my girlfriend and my seven year-old daughter and what a trip that was. I purchased a 4 hp Evinrude engine to hook up to our canoe to get us and all of our stuff out there we had three dogs and three humans so it was quite a few trips and I Accounted for that ahead of time. To paddle would probably take 5 to 10 minutes, but is an easy ride. Plenty of flat spots to set up a tent. The only thing on the island is a dock and a propane griddle which came in handy so we didn’t have to bring all of our cooking stuff. There is a fire pit already established, but you’ll want to bring Firewood. The island has medium vegetation, cover enough to get a little bit of privacy, but may want to consider bringing a tarp or situating your temp in a certain way as to have privacy to change, etc.. parking is at the public beach. It can be a bit of a bummer coming back bringing your stuff from the beach up the hill, but wasn’t terrible. Recommend bringing a wagon dolly or wheelbarrow to get your stuff down to the water would probably make it easier but definitely wasn’t too bad. There’s a grocery store, Ocean State job law and hardware store not even five minutes down the road if you feel like there’s anything you forgotten all in all would definitely go back. The island was very clean with great wildlife. I never thought we would get used to hearing loons.

Just off Route 125, our property offers a space to sleep and cook—no amenities, just the beauty of the outdoors and a place to poop. ***Winter is coming, and we will not be plowing the road to the site, we will allow instant bookings till the driveway is impassable, then we will cancel*** The land borders a lush greenway and a rare wetland ecosystem called a fen. Expect visits from chipmunks, wild turkeys, raccoons, possums, porcupines, and possibly a sharp-shinned hawk overhead or a deer wandering through. With dry leaves on the ground, even small critters can sound surprisingly big, adding to the wild charm of the place. Though the campsite is set back on the property, you may still hear some road noise from Route 125. You’ll catch only a glimpse of one neighbor’s home through the trees (their generator runs for about an hour on Sunday afternoons).

It started years ago my sister and I stayed in a yurt at a campground in Oregon. That was it. I was hooked so I got one. There is something magical about staying in a round structure in the trees. My love of nature and comfort drove me to create this special place to be able to share it with others. My TreeYurt is a platform built high in the trees so it essentially like a treehouse but with a yurt instead. It is located in the back part of my property surrounded by woods. In the spring there is a small stream running nearby and soon to come a bridge over to the fairy village. The land is somewhat sloped yet comfortable. There are apple orchards nearby and many hiking trails a short distance away as well as Portland a mere 15 minutes. The kitchenette has a small fridge a coffee maker a cook top with two burners pots pans utensils and kitchen towels as well a propane grill outside. There is a wood stove for heating in the winter as well as a monitor heater that makes it very cozy for chilly nights. The yurt is insulated so it is a great year round glamping adventure. I provide fire some wood for the wood stove inside but the camp fire wood for the outdoor fire pit is $5 per bundle. The outhouse has a dry flush toilet and instructions at located in the yurt and out house. There is seasonal running water (May through October) for the outdoor sink which is available for use for dishwashing and a bit of cleaning up. Also an outdoor shower is available for use May through October and biodegradable soaps and shampoo are provided. I provide gallons of drinking water and dishwashing water for the colder months inside the yurt with dish tubs sponges and soap.
