This ecological art project is currently recruiting visitors to camp in beautiful fields, on woodland rim sites, or at delicate campsites located along a system of woodland trails. As of 2025, camping here provides a glimpse into the fourth year of succession. This current phase is characterized by spacious views of a gently rolling young prairie contrasted with the rocky and steep slopes of the mature forest. Most likely a good fit for self-sufficient types that like campsites with generous spacing, but still want to get out to the park quickly (~7 miles to the Visitors Center) or travel into Cave City (3 mi) for coffee/ice-cream/pizza/barbecue/bar/food/etc. Expand from the campsite into a sketch-work of trails, as if camping near the headquarters of a satellite nature reserve. All sites except Spicebush have a filtered water output. Spicebush campers will have water access next to parking. Camping funds allow us to plant trees (~525 seedlings as of March 2025), establish prairie grasses and flowers, restore wetlands, create trails, and remove invasive species. If you have only 2 days, a nice way to experience Mammoth Cave NP is to break the trip into 3 layers, covering the underworld (cave tours), upper world (hiking), and the water that connects the two (Green River kayaking). Mammoth Cave is unique in the way that a study of the underworld will repeatedly draw the mind into a creative space of imagining what is beneath the surface, how these worlds are connected, while navigating park land and water. Note that we offer kayak trips that can be tailored to your schedule and travel constraints. Thanks to our visitors for supporting this type of project! Bundles of dried and split firewood are available onsite, usually a mix of oak with a suggested donation of $6/bundle, delivered to the campsite. Kayaks are hosted on a suggested donation basis ($45) providing a flexible option for visitors to float the Green River through the national park. Using GPS Directions i would suggest avoiding Tunnel Mill Rd and Murphy Lane if towing a camper or driving an RV.

We are bordered on woods so camping can be done in the trees as well or in our nice open area right as soon as you come up the drive. Outside our barn/house we have water and electric outlets as needed. In the open area or the woods there are several trees that can be used for a hammock as well. We do have a large fire pit near our house and a ton of wood fires can be started as long as we are not under a burn ban if we are having a dry summer or fall. Dedicated workspace for remote work with fast internet available on both sites. Come sit in the BIG Bear Wallow Chair! Great focal point for your pictures. Surrounded by farmland, crops, and farm animals (cattle, horses, donkeys, mules) in neighboring fields. You may see deer, and wild turkeys, hear a coyote, spot a bear or bobcat. We do not have any pets. Occasionally, a neighboring cat or dog may wander by. We are not responsible for the actions of any animals that may wander onto the property. Guest access The yard has a fence around 3 sides. Do not go beyond the fenced area as farm crops are growing. Owners have a private fenced-in back yard separate from the common areas. Other things to note: We do not allow pets, parties, illegal activities, or fireworks. Please request the use of the Fire Pit as it depends on wind conditions with crops growing in the fields. We have a charcoal grill available for guest use. You must bring your own charcoal, lighting fluid, and matches. Please let us know if you use the grill so we can clean it out after the charcoal cools. * For the safety and protection of all our guests, we have completely cleaned and permanently sanitized the entire bungalow with LastGerm 2-Step products. A few miles to country style restaurants, Sulphur Well historic park, 6 miles to small town, aprox 20 miles to closest cities. We plan to be officially open for campers April 1 , but if the weather is nice and you want to come out we would do our best to accommodate you. (please note: due to the unpredictable nature of farm animals , we must ask that visitors do not go into fenced or unfenced areas containing animals without permission, especially with young children or dogs. )

Weekend Trip to Misty Bottoms

We felt very welcomed, it's a beautiful and secluded property with a beautiful creek for canoeing or kayaking. We had clouds but i expect the stargazing would be spectacular. Lots of songbirds and deer, beautiful fall color. Perfect temporary home for hunters, we met a few, fascinating for us city people. Bathroom and shower clean and warm. There is a large sheltered area with chairs and grills in case of inclement weather. We didn't meet the donkeys but could see them across the field. Recommended!

This was a great spot for our camper for a couple nights! Easy to get in and out of, restroom/showers were clean, and free firewood is a nice amenity. The host was available but not overbearing, and communication was quick and clear. We would definitely return.

We enjoyed hiking along the creek bed, visiting with the horses, and fishing in the river! A nice spot for camping; we pitched our tent in the field overlooking the river. Very friendly hosts and animals. Hope to get back sometime.

Staying at Sticky Wicket Farms was a great experience in no small part due to the wonderful host Leslie. We opted for the quiche and cinammon rolls and both were homemade, hot and delicious. This is a great spot for a stop! Location is perfect for Mammoth Caves. The grass in the lawn was great for kids running around, Aswell as all the trails cut out around the property to explore. Kevin was responsive and friendly. Would stay here again!
