About the Island: Ever wonder what it would be like to stay on a deserted island? This is truly an adventure you will never forget. Once you land in paradise you will wander thru the looping trail system to find your campsite. There are (5) campsites with elevated tent platforms tucked back in the trees. Once you are settled in,  it is time to gather wood and build a fire in one of the (2) 8 foot wide,  2 ton concrete fire pits.   Awake a dawn with a nice kayak/canoe trip on a secluded water trail thru mangrove islands and stop for lunch at River's Edge Bar and Grill across the river from the island.  Having too much fun, take a nap in hammock and rock to breeze and sounds of river.  This is an island is accessible via water only so there is some preparation to get here and stay here.  Kayaks, Canoes and a shuttle are available if you don't have your own transportation.  Please contact prior to booking to ensure you understand the packages, for example,  if you want to rent the whole island for yourself and need transportation for your group. We offer tailored quote for package based on your needs. Our Story: After 6 years of my neighbor bugging me to buy this island, I finally took him up on it. My neighbor bought it in the 1970's but did little with it. It has been overgrown for years. I am actively work to develop multiple campsites of the island for enjoyment of the river and its surrounding. All money from your stay here is re-invested back into the property.

We opened to the public on Labor Day 2014. Most people come to stay either in our rental cottage or in their horse trailers/RVs with their horses to ride the awesome trails in the 20,000+ acre adjacent Croom Forest. However, because our ranch is so peaceful, many stay here without horses just to enjoy the peace and quiet. There are many opportunities to recreate in the area, including outstanding mountain and road biking, OHVing, hiking, golfing, and canoeing/kayaking. Many full-time and working RVers stay for extended periods. Note that our camping area is small and intimate, so you will be close to other campers. We have 5 30-amp hookups, and 2 50-amp hookups; if you need 50-amp service, please request it. Note that a minimum of a 2-night stay will typically be required on weekends, especially during our busy season. WiFi is available, but we call it "Country WiFi" since it sometimes can be slow and may or may not be accessible from where you are parked; also, Verizon cell service in our area is terrible. If internet access is important to you, we suggest having your own hotspot or internet service (many working RVers have Starlink). Note that GPS can be very mean in our rural area; make sure your turn off Highway 50 is onto paved High Corner Road, which is 2 miles west of I-75 (if GPS tries to turn you down unpaved, dead-end roads, DO NOT LISTEN..you will get stuck!).

This was a great experience for my boyfriend and I. As a nurse i prioritize peace and self care off the clock.....this property was definitely peaceful in a surrounding of nature that influences self care. Dawns land was full of greenery, she organized rental spaces to prioritize privacy. Our rental space was clean and organized. Easily to become a romantic setting for any couple. Bathroom was very clean and cute! Dawn herself was a welcoming and down to earth personality, which is refreshing. So detailed with around the area activities and food. We did not get to use the hot tub (we forgot about it) but I can garentee that would've been just as impressive. I plan to rent again! Thanks Dawn!!!!♡

We can’t wait to go back to Spotted Dance Ranch! Kym approved us quickly and was very communicative regarding directions, offered info on nearest grocery, restaurants and more. (It was easy to get in and out thanks to following host directions vs gps.) John was super helpful and answered all of our questions upon arrival as well. Leveling and set up was a breeze. Everything was well maintained and cared for. Our dogs enjoyed stretching their legs on the property after our dog show. We enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere after a hectic day too. 1000% would stay again, but next time we hope to stay longer so we have time to meet the horses. Don’t hesitate if you are considering booking here. It’s a great place to stay! John & Kym are wonderful hosts with a lovely ranch.

We enjoyed our one night on the island. We kayaked to it. Got everything set up at camp. Did some fishing from the kayaks. The large fire pits were excellent for entertainment during the night as well as cooking our dinner and breakfast. The island is right on the river but very private with the way Eric has kept the trees around the outside parameter of the island. Also take a hike over to the west side of the island to a bench that was nice for sunset. You can’t see the actual sunset due to the land but still great colors in the sky.

Our 2nd visit, and, again, it was fabulous. John and Kym are great hosts... John met us and helped to park and set up. We were on the end closest to the road, and the view is magnificent (very rural with maybe 5-6 cars a day). The layout was well thought out with hookups and paddocks, with large water buckets... and CLEAN, very well maintained. 10 minutes to Winn-Dixie, restaurants, gas. 15-20 minutes to Brooksville with everything you might need. We love it there!

You can rent a kayak or a canoe to go out and see dolphins, turtles, alligators, manatees, snakes, deer, various birds or even bears. The Weeki Wachee preserve is another beautiful, close spot worth visiting. Disney World, Legoland and Universal Studios are within two hours. St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Tampa and Tarpon Springs are must-see cities! Beaches: Pine Island, Fort Island, Sunwest Park Beach. Further away: Madeira Beach, Honeymoon Island & Fort DeSoto. Withlacoochee State Park and other natural preserves with trail access and kayaking are only a short distance away, and Dames Cave, Homosassa Springs, and Chasawiska Springs are all within a ~20-minute drive as well. The pond is Spring-fed at the headwaters of Marsh Branch Creek which begins at our property and flows West about five miles in to Tampa Bay. Approximately 33 private acres allows for plenty of space between our campsites. Property is home to a farm with hundreds of fruit trees- Lychee, Mango, Starfruit, Papaya, Guava). Red Mombin, and thousands of banana plants. Fishing can be great, wildlife and bird watching too. Fenced and gated for safety, this old historic nursery property has good vibes and plenty to offer. Until you see it - you really may not understand. Parts of property are wide open, other areas are rugged and difficult to walk through including some wetland areas. The nursery has plenty of trees, and some fields -the large pond is surrounded by cattails and marsh/wetlands and has fish (Bass, Tilapia, Sunfish, Catfish). Several species of wildlife have been seen on the property. We think the property is lovely, and definitely want you to enjoy your camping experience!
