Rennigers Antique Center is located right up the street (less than 5 minutes away) for some great picking. We are conveniently close to the Central Florida Attractions and the beach on both east and west coasts within an hour drivep. A few Campers favorite places to visit are Mount Dora Bike Trail - 2.6 miles, Kelly Park - 11 miles and Kings Landing 12 miles from farm. We offer youth day camps on various dates, pony rides and a tour of our farm animals for an additional fee. Reservations required in advance due to the other activities we have going on. In 2007, we had no idea where this adventure was going to take us. Our small urban farm was sharing our miniature animals with assisted living facilities and Neulife, where we have 3 miniature horses that live on their property. Little by little we have evolved into more of a need to share with the community and help others with the relaxing qualities our farm and animals have to offer, we want to be able to share and better educate with hands on experiences, teach kindness, patience, confidence and help others to be the best they can be. 5 J’s Camp is completely private 2.5 acres that backs the Ocala National Forest in Umatilla . This our family getaway, we are a family of 5 and we all have names that start the letter J. There are endless places to put a tent including by the lake, or completely private areas, or by the common areas to be close to a bathroom and kitchen and pavilion, water and electric. The amenities include a pavilion with an outside kitchen, dinning and living area. There is also a ( large shed converted to a ) cook shack with a full size fridge, microwave, electric burners and a toaster oven. There is also a bathroom with a full-size shower/tub, hot water and a toilet. It comes with all of the basics to be comfortable while you camp. Also, you have a good chance of being alone. we usually only book 1 party at a time, Just message me to confirm. The property has enough lighting to completely light up the common area. There is also water and electric all over the property. There is a shooting range right outside of the property that is part of the forest. There is Blue Sink several miles away, it is a spring feed swimming hole that is deep enough for SCUBA. There is horse trails and OHV trails as well. This camp was a hunting camp and still has an huge animal cleaning station on the back side of the property, with water, drainage, power, lighting and all stainless steel sinks and counters. Come to play and explore or come to relax. Our camp is always (slowly)being Improved, you might see work in progress so be aware there may be a consolidated area that looks messy. This is a camp, everything gets dusty, and there are bugs. We keep the yard kept up and do what we can to limit bugs in the common area. I recommend a 4x4 although I don’t own one my self. The roads are usually decent, but the weather has a lot to do with roads in the forest.

Our antique town is an amazing experience to explore with lots of history and complete with quaint shops and restaurants, boating and lots of things to do. Rennigers Antique Center is located right up the street (less than 5 minutes away) for some great picking. We are conveniently close to the Central Florida Attractions and the beach on both east and west coasts within an hour drivep. A few Campers favorite places to visit are Mount Dora Bike Trail - 2.6 miles, Kelly Park - 11 miles and Kings Landing 12 miles from farm. We offer youth day camps on various dates, pony rides and a tour of our farm animals for an additional fee. Reservations required in advance due to the other activities we have going on. In 2007, we had no idea where this adventure was going to take us. Our small urban farm was sharing our miniature animals with assisted living facilities and Neulife, where we have 3 miniature horses that live on their property. Little by little we have evolved into more of a need to share with the community and help others with the relaxing qualities our farm and animals have to offer, we want to be able to share and better educate with hands on experiences, teach kindness, patience, confidence and help others to be the best they can be. We loved our stay on the farm! The property was well kept and the campsites were set up nicely. We did visit during the off season, so we had the place to ourselves except for one night. The owners were very friendly and accommodating. The farm animals were so cute. Lastly, the farm cats were the best! They both came up to us for some love and attention. The one cat, Spurs, sat on my lap at our campsite one of the nights as we sat by the camp fire. We will definitely book again!

Stopped in while passing through. I assured James I would be there before dark. Of course I lingered too long and got there tired and in the dark. I missed the clearly obvious sign and wondered if my GPS had led me wrong. James came out to gather me in and show me to the perfect site for the night. Private, peaceful, great for what I did passing through, although I did take time for the Lake Apopka North Shore Wildlife Drive - highly recommended as well. Great place to stay.

While I was in Mark's front yard, I felt like I was a world away at my own farm. This wonderfully flat and clear site faces the horses and the nursery at the front of the property. It's far enough out to feel like you're in the countryside, but close enough to everything to feel like you're in the city. Just 15 minutes from Mt. Dora and 45 from the Lake Apopka Wilderness Drive, a perfect recommendation from Mark, Pennylane Farm is a perfect spot.

After a late night out, I started my second day at The Oaks with an early coffee run and breakfast, then came back to soak in the scenery—and that’s when I was like I have to stay again. The property is incredibly quiet and beautiful, with a peaceful energy that’s hard to find. I hadn’t had much downtime the day before, but this morning gave me a chance to check things out. I took a ride up to the Citrus Tower and enjoyed another coffee at their fantastic little shop, then spent the rest of the morning thrifting at local shops (always a favorite pastime). Later, I made my way to Lake Louisa—my absolute favorite spot in the area—and honestly, I want going to go there but I needed to see more nature. And it didn’t disappoint . I’m already thinking about coming back for a longer stay just to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. For anyone looking for a solid base near Disney but away from the “bubble”, or Clermont, or Orlando. This is the spot for you. Oh, and I almost forgot so as I was walking around and the couple times that I came in and out on the driveway, I noticed the property has a bunch of hidden gems basically art. All hidden and nestled within the property in the trees, a bunch of purpose items which is right up my alley.

We spent Halloween weekend at North Shore Relic Ranch to get away from the trick-or-treaters since Halloween really isn’t our thing. We come to Mount Dora around this time every year for either the craft festival or the plant sale, and this spot was a perfect base for that. It was a cool weekend — overnight temps in the 40s and 50s — and we arrived later than planned, but were greeted right at the gate by the camp host, James, who was very pleasant and communicated well through the Hipcamp app. Our site was a convenient pull-through for our small camper and came with a fire ring, table, and chairs, which was a nice touch. We brought a small generator to power our electronics, and it worked out perfectly. We stayed two nights, explored the property, and took a drive out to the Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive — highly recommended if you enjoy birding, photography, or spotting gators in their natural environment. The property definitely lives up to its name with all the classic old vehicles scattered around, adding a unique rustic charm. Overall, it was a peaceful and memorable weekend, and we’d happily stay again!

The location was ideal—just a few miles from my friends and close enough to Disney for easy back-and-forth drives. The host asked me to text or call about 15 minutes before arrival so they could meet me at the road, wave me in, and guide me directly to my site. That kind of personal touch made arrival smooth and stress-free. Though I didn’t spend much time at the property itself, I slept incredibly well. The site was quiet, stable, and felt safe—perfect for recharging. Everything was exactly as described, and the hosts were responsive and accommodating.

Weekend Trip to Wilderness Shores Ranch Campground!
This place is absolutely fantastic. The campsites are so well maintained, the scenery is incredible & Paul is the best (make sure you get to hear one of his jokes after you check in). There are beautiful longhorns roaming around the campsites and goats in a pen you can go feed. Oh and the bathrooms? Impeccable. So clean and very nice. Truly cannot recommend this place enough. We will be back!!!

Weekend Trip to North Shore Relic Ranch
This was our second time at North Shore Relic Ranch, and it’s officially our happy place. There’s something magical about this spot — a mix of country calm, animal chaos, and the kind of hospitality that feels like coming home. James, the host, is the real deal. A solid Army vet, honest as the day is long, and just one of those guys you instantly trust. He takes time to show you around, chat about life, and make sure everything’s perfect — even if Tom the Turkey tries to steal the spotlight (again). Speaking of Tom, that bird is on permanent patrol. We brought him a fresh split cantaloupe, and let me tell you, it was love at first bite. He strutted around like a feathery sheriff making his rounds. And the best part? They’ve got “Butt Nuggets” — yep, farm-fresh chicken eggs with a name that guarantees a smile every breakfast. We fed the animals, watched the sun go down, breathed clean air, and remembered what peace actually feels like. This place is therapy with hooves and feathers. Already planning our third visit — because once you meet Tom and James, you’re basically part of the ranch family.

Weekend Trip to North Shore Relic Ranch
This was our second time staying at North Shore Relic Ranch, and somehow it just keeps getting better. We love coming back to feed the animals, soak in the peace of the countryside, and just slow down for a bit. James, our host, is an absolute gem — a humble and trustworthy Army vet who goes above and beyond to make sure everyone feels welcome. You can tell he genuinely cares about both his guests and his animals. Speaking of animals — Tom the Turkey was on full patrol again, strutting his stuff like he owns the place (which, honestly, he probably does). We brought him some fresh split cantaloupe, and he was very appreciative. Don’t leave without grabbing a few of their “Butt Nuggets” (aka fresh chicken eggs). They’re delicious, and buying them is just part of the fun charm that makes this place feel like home. If you want a stay that’s equal parts relaxing, quirky, and heartwarming — this is it. Already counting down the days till our next visit.
