With just a single Hipcamp site on a large 40 acre property and no neighbors nearby, you'll enjoy a private camping experience in one of the most scenic locations in Colorado. The property is partially wooded, and there is a spectacular view from the top of a prominent hill on the property which is some of the highest ground for miles in all directions. Upon completion of the City of Aurora's Wild Horse Reservoir in the 2030's, this will be a "waterfront" property. On site picnic tables (the tan colored bench can fold into a table) and a porta-potty are provided. The campsite is equipped with a unique dual purpose wood/propane fire ring - bring your own propane to enjoy campfires while burn bans are in effect. Great hiking opportunities may be found right on the property, and numerous nearby seldom used dirt roads provide exceptional mountain biking opportunities. Directions from the town of Hartsel: Proceed 2 miles South on State Hwy 9. Turn right (South) on CR 53. Stay right at the fork at 1.3 miles. I had such a great experience booking with Carrie at Rooted Recovery. I originally had an issue with a cancellation and she immediately stepped in to help me resolve it. She fully refunded my first booking and made it super easy for me to rebook the night at her Sheep Mountain Site. Carrie was responsive, kind, and genuinely cared about making sure everything worked out smoothly. The process could’ve been stressful, but she made it simple and seamless. I’m very appreciative of her communication and support. Highly recommend — the customer service alone is top-tier, and it made me even more excited for my stay on her land.

This is a small, no-frills family operation. Power at each site with a water spigot available near the main fire pit. No rigs over 30' due to a sharp bend in the driveway. Beautiful, quiet, and convenient to all the best that the White River National Forest has to offer. We'll be back!

Absolutely gorgeous place if you need/want to disconnect and truly enjoy some peace and quiet. The huge fire pit with log seats, hanging grill and picnic table was great and we appreciated the thoughtful wood pieces left behind to use for the campfire. Arthur is super responsive and the views both in the morning and at night were stunning.

Beautiful property with excellent views! Steve was great at communicating expectations, directions and provided clear information. Outhouse was clean and well stocked. Fire pit with option of wood or propane was really neat, so much so that my husband now wants one in our backyard. We experienced a bit of wind and Steve was helpful and understanding. We recommend leaving the property the same way you enter. We turned on a road thinking it would lead us to the highway (google maps said it was the quickest way to Cottonwood Hot Springs) but it led us astray. Overall happy campers.

This campsite is arranged very nicely. The tent spot is on soft, flat ground, the picnic table is a nice addition, and the fire pit (though we did not use) was built nicely as well. The views are exceptional and the campsite is not too far from many outdoor activities.

This was my first time car camping and it should be called “GLAMPING” because of all of the extra amenities! We loved the gas fire pit and string lights at our site. Having electricity and water at the site helped us stay warm in the car, as we plugged in 2 heated throws. Both Belinda and Todd greeted us separately and provided us with helpful information. We loved interacting with the farm animals, especially the Jacob Sheep and turkeys! The bathhouse was very clean. The shower was especially modern and nice to have during our stay. We enjoyed our stay very much!

My dog and I had such a lovely time at Arthur's campsite! When I originally booked, I had to reschedule due to getting sick, and Arthur was incredibly kind and prompt in his response. The campsite itself was peaceful, with stunning views, and I felt completely safe throughout my stay. I also felt lucky with the weather - it was mildly cold and windy, which was perfect for late September. One small thing to note: there are some small barrel cacti around the site, so just keep an eye on your pet’s paws. We will definitely be back!

Weekend Trip to Pronghorn Oasis

This land has some of the most beautiful skies in Colorado. If you bring your chairs up the hill you can see mountains miles and miles away! It also has great amenities - picnic table, bench, propane fire pit, cookware, chairs, etc. We want to book every time of year to see how the land grows and changes. We saw some yellow leaves this time! Thank you again for your flexibility and beautiful space!
