On the property are cats, two dogs, two equines (you will hear our burro braying). Our neighbors have yaks, cattle, goats, sheep, dogs, horses, poultry, and other farm animals. You will also see the wild critters that inhabit our corner of La Plata County. You are welcome to wander our property beyond the Big Stick Ditch but do not go into the pasture with our burro or enter any of the out buildings. Park within steps of the Art Shack, cross the foot bridge over the bubbling irrigation ditch, and you have arrived! Please remove your shoes before entering! There is electricity, a queen bed, rustic chairs inside, an outdoor table and chairs, a composting toilet, a coffee machine, and purified drinking water for your use. An electric heater is supplied during winter months. There is no air conditioning. We are available if needed (unless we are out of town adventuring) but will not expect to interact with you as you relax. This cabin boasts a three story floor plan, with a full bathroom on each floor (as well as a half bathroom on the main floor), a king size bed in main floor full sized bed in every other room, and two large decks with plenty of space overlooking the lake with a million dollar view. The main floor has a primary bedroom with full bathroom, the top floor loft has a connected bathroom with a separated bathtub/shower combo and an additional standing shower (as seen in pictures), and the bottom floor has an oversized bedroom with two full beds and a full bathroom in hall. A gas fireplace is on the main floor, with an amazing view on all sides and an entertainment space with large flat screen tv located on the bottom floor. Beautiful! Staff was very nice. We had a beautiful riverside cabin. The river was raging when we arrived due to days of downpours. I was concerned about potential flooding. While it was not near flood level, they kindly and quickly moved us to a cabin several hundred feet from the river bank.

I stayed in the basic cabin (ie, the fancy shed). It was perfect, one queen bed, two twin bunks, ac, heat, ceiling fan and a light. The sites are a little close together but I was not spending the summer so not a big deal, I was there to sleep after spending the day at mesa verde. The grounds and restroom/shower was very neat and clean. I would definitely stay again. There is definitely road noise but as you can see from the posting, they are next to a major road. It was not a big deal in the cabin as I had windows closed as the temps were pretty cool.

The art shack is a great spot. The view is gorgeous and even though the temperature got up to 87 it was nice a cool as the shack is in a small group of pine and popular trees. Even if it had been too hot Gretchen provided a cooler with a fan. There's a swing out front that was lovely to sway on while I watched the sunset. It was beautiful and peaceful. In distance you can hear some cows mooing and an occasional donkey song. Everything you want in a weekend away.

Had such a great time! We stayed in the one-room glamping cabin with beautiful views of the river right outside our front door. The bathhouses were very clean, and the showers had excellent water pressure and got nice and hot. The cabin itself was a big upgrade compared to tent camping. The bed was super comfortable (the pillows could have been better, so I recommend bringing your own). The fridge and microwave were a nice touch, and we appreciated that linens, towels, and trash pick-up were all provided. The activities each night were fun and cute, and the pool was clean and heated. Overall, the whole place was quiet, the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, and we are already looking forward to coming back!

My son and I stayed here after visiting Mesa Verde National Park. Even after reading the enthusiastic reviews, we did not realize the treat that lay in store. What a special place! Like for others, this was my favorite stop on our trip. The farm is beautiful and comfortable (we cooked a full meal, had fabulous showers), but the best part was the hospitality of the whole family, getting to tour the farm and eat a sumptuous breakfast. I’ve been enjoying Katie’s lavender balm and tea each day since to remind me of this place.
