We are closed for the season. PLEASE READ IN ITS ENTIRETY The Rabbit Hole Ranch offers beautiful night skies with little to no light pollution and unobstructed views of the majestic Blanca Massif. The Great Sand Dunes and Zapata Falls is just a (gorgeous) 35 minute drive. Camping here at the Rabbit Hole Ranch is primitive and dispersed (no numbered sites) and there 30 acres available for you to use. Just follow the signs to the designated area and pick out a spot you like. Some spots have fire rings, some don’t. We are working on getting more, but in the meantime you’re welcome to bring your own. Or feel free to dig out a little hole. It works great and is easy to extinguish when you fill it back in and bury it. Please do not bury any trash. Typically, you will experience a rare kind of solitude and silence that feels…. other-worldly, with incredible sunrises and sunsets filling the enormous skies. On holidays, however, expect it to be busy. Our dogs are working dogs and they are more than happy to help keep you and your pets safe. Please help make their jobs easier by not leaving any food or trash in or around tents. Please keep your pets on leash or under control until you’re comfortably certain they get along with our dogs. And please report any issues promptly. This year we have a new Great Pyrenees to greet you, her name is Boudicca and she’s excited to meet everyone! Returning this season is 12 year old KayLee, also a GP and and Finn, our little dude from Alaska. Quiet time begins at 10:00 pm. Note: Holidays still offer the excellent location and spectacular views, but are likely to be less quiet and far more busy. We typically do not strictly enforce quiet time during holidays.

The surrounding valley has lots to offer from the quant little towns and coffee shops to the home style meals at the restaurants. and all the hot springs are amazing. Your site is overlooking the Sangre de Christo mountain range. The land is Alpine desert with sagebrush and ground cactus and incredible star gazing. There are 2 great hiking trails within a couple miles. There are 3 hot springs within 30 minutes. The Great sand dunes national park is within 1hr. The San Luis valley offers, hiking, mountain biking, ATV trail, Horse back riding, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, rafting, refuges for wildlife watching. New for 2024, The flushable toilet and shower are now operational. The shower house is located in the center of the loop with sites 1,2,3 on the south side of the building. It has an on demand water heater, there is also a a flushable toilet located in the same space. An important note about the toilet, Do Not flush anything other than toilet paper please. DO NOT flush feminine hygiene products, napkins or hand wipes or anything other than toilet paper. These type of things plug and burn up the pump while pumping out the tank. This will cause the toilet to be unusable. ATTENTION: THE SHOWER HOUSE AND TOILET WILL BE SHUTTING DOWN AND GETTING WINTERIZED OCTOBER 1ST UNTIL MAY 1ST. No fireworks are permitted at any time.

History: this land was originally part of a large cattle ranch in the 1980s. The main ranch is still up and running but this parcel was used for many purposes over the years. In 2021, we were featured in USA Todays Ten Best for star gazing! My property has 360 degree mountains views with the Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range as our back yard. Nearby you can find many different trail systems for all kinds of outdoor enthusiasts. From hiking to jeeping, ATV or dirt biking and equestrians - you can find it all! You will be surrounded by BLM land, BACA land, and Wildlife Refuge just two miles away. Be sure to bring extra bug spray and protection needed against biting insects such as flies, gnats, and mosquitoes. For those bringing your pets, they MUST be on a leash/lead at all times. While I do not have much cactus on my property, I do have an abundance of greasewood (Chico brush) which is very thorn-like if stepped on. Accommodations for those with livestock or horses, just make sure you chat in advance your initial message. Close to BLM, and National Forest as well as 3 hot springs within 20 miles and the Great Sand Dunes. You will need to access the property by turning onto Highway 150, then a left onto 3rd St. Next, take the first right onto Ash St, then the first right onto 4th St. Go down the road and locate our property on the left side of the road. The approximate coordinates for the front of our lot are 37.4932, -105.6076. We recommend using Google Maps to get there. Apple Maps does not do as well with coordinates. Feel free to take your vehicle off the driveway, just be mindful of our land! There will also be a fire pit for your convenience, but do not leave any trash or food after you leave. All three sites provide 360 panoramic views with epic sunrise and sunset views of Mount Blanca. Wild horses and prong horned antelope may wander the Mesa as you enjoy your camp. The natural beauty of these three campsites is worth protecting so please if you pack it in, pack it out. This is a dry camp with no toilet or garbage facilities. Please treat this land with respect so that future campers may enjoy the land free of rubbish. All three campsites are accessible with any type of vehicle, and the long driveway and turnaround can accommodate any trailer or RV up to 20'. Camping here at the Rabbit Hole Ranch is primitive and dispersed (no numbered sites) and there 30 acres available for you to use. Just follow the signs to the designated area and pick out a spot you like. Some spots have fire rings, some don’t. We are working on getting more, but in the meantime you’re welcome to bring your own. Or feel free to dig out a little hole. It works great and is easy to extinguish when you fill it back in and bury it. Please do not bury any trash. Typically, you will experience a rare kind of solitude and silence that feels…. other-worldly, with incredible sunrises and sunsets filling the enormous skies. On holidays, however, expect it to be busy. Our dogs are working dogs and they are more than happy to help keep you and your pets safe. Please help make their jobs easier by not leaving any food or trash in or around tents. Please keep your pets on leash or under control until you’re comfortably certain they get along with our dogs. And please report any issues promptly. This year we have a new Great Pyrenees to greet you, her name is Boudicca and she’s excited to meet everyone! The San Luis valley offers, hiking, mountain biking, ATV trail, Horse back riding, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, rafting, refuges for wildlife watching. New for 2024, The flushable toilet and shower are now operational. The shower house is located in the center of the loop with sites 1,2,3 on the south side of the building. It has an on demand water heater, there is also a a flushable toilet located in the same space. An important note about the toilet, Do Not flush anything other than toilet paper please. Nearby you can find many different trail systems for all kinds of outdoor enthusiasts. From hiking to jeeping, ATV or dirt biking and equestrians - you can find it all! You will be surrounded by BLM land, BACA land, and Wildlife Refuge just two miles away. Be sure to bring extra bug spray and protection needed against biting insects such as flies, gnats, and mosquitoes. For those bringing your pets, they MUST be on a leash/lead at all times. While I do not have much cactus on my property, I do have an abundance of greasewood (Chico brush) which is very thorn-like if stepped on. The roads are county maintained and labeled, and you will probably not see another person in the area your entire stay.Pinon, pine, and lots of shrubs cover most of the campsite. Lava rock brings some texture to the high desert dirt, and there is enough tree coverage to stay as hidden and private as you choose. The Mesa has no shortage of wildlife! Besides herds of wild horses, you may encounter coyotes, rabbits, hawks, and other beautiful native animals. Always keep your distance, and never feed wildlife.A few things to note about this campsite:1. NO electricity, NO water, NO restrooms, NO showers! 2. NO trash receptacle - pack-in, pack-out only. 3. There is only one campsite/listing on our property - you get it all to yourself!4. There is a dirt driveway for vehicle parking, but you can not drive up to the campsite. 5 off-grid acres down the road from Great Sand Dunes National Park! The property will be marked with painted sticks, spaced about 30ft apart from one another. You will need to access the property by turning onto Highway 150, then a left onto 3rd St. Next, take the first right onto Ash St, then the first right onto 4th St. Go down the road and locate our property on the left side of the road. The approximate coordinates for the front of our lot are 37.4932, -105.6076. We recommend using Google Maps to get there. Apple Maps does not do as well with coordinates. Feel free to take your vehicle off the driveway, just be mindful of our land! There will also be a fire pit for your convenience, but do not leave any trash or food after you leave. Please make sure to put out all fires completely. Even though this is primarily a Tent site, RVs and Campers are welcome. However, there is no electricity or any water hookups on the property, but the views and privacy make up for it! You are about 15 minutes south of the Great Sand Dunes and 20 minutes from downtown Alamosa.

Mono Loco Flats sits on a Mesa nestled in the Sangre de Cristo mountains near Sangre De Cristo creek and La Veta Pass. Growing up in Southern Colorado I was fortunate to explore this zone as a kid and I feel fortunate that I can share Mono Loco Flats with others. Set up camp and enjoy sweeping views of Mount Blanca and the surrounding Sangre De Cristo mountain range. This 15 acre camp is situated just off highway 160 for easy access, approximately 25 minutes from The Great Sand Dunes Natianal park and Zapata Falls. Mono Loco Flats is an excellent home base for exploring the San Luis Valley. Sangre de Cristo Creek is a short hike or drive to the south. Fort Garland is a 10-minute drive. All three sites provide 360 panoramic views with epic sunrise and sunset views of Mount Blanca. Wild horses and prong horned antelope may wander the Mesa as you enjoy your camp. The natural beauty of these three campsites is worth protecting so please if you pack it in, pack it out. This is a dry camp with no toilet or garbage facilities. Please treat this land with respect so that future campers may enjoy the land free of rubbish. All three campsites are accessible with any type of vehicle, and the long driveway and turnaround can accommodate any trailer or RV up to 20'. As the Scenic Passenger Train is heard in the distance you'll look up towards Mount Blanca and imagine your next adventure living among the wildflowers of this High Desert Mountain Hipcamp. After recovering from a wildfire, the ancient sage brushes that had previously made the land harsh and unwelcoming are nearly gone, replaced with an abundance of grasses and wildflowers if blessed with rains. Open Land as far as you can go to the East you'll follow the Coyote canyon to high mountain lookouts. There are old logging maintenance roads you could take advantage of, so Hike, Bike or Motor around the local area. Fort Garland and Blanca have a community center (pool), septic dump and water fill and can provide groceries. The Great Sand dunes are about 45 minutes away. The Sand Dunes swimming pool, fed by a very hot artisan well is about an hour away. Mountain Home Lake is also within 1/2 an hour or so for fishing/water sports with a nice boat ramp. Escape from light pollution like never before, a clear night sky will make the whole trip worthwhile! Lots of wild life and you will most likely see some deer, hear the coyotes, and count the different colors of the humming birds. You can book a train ride out of Alamosa, and visit the local historic towns. The views will make it hard to leave the campsite, but there are tons of experiences and things to do in the area so make sure to do some research before you arrive.  The weather and wind can be unpredictable in the mountains, so be prepared.  There are two entrances onto the property, one at the bottom and one at the top. You can avoid some wind by camping near Lewis-Smith Rd at the lowest part of the land.  Also, the site can accommodate large trailers/RV's but just make sure to plan your entrance/exit carefully and don't go to far down the hills.  Just choose a wise spot to park if in a big rig.  There are some small tires around that you can use to sit on or if you dig a hole that you fill in before leaving you can make a temporary toilet.  Make sure to haul out all your trash and leave the site cleaner than it was when you arrived and respect the land.  If you do come across a mess from the previous camper and clean it up, just let us know and we will give you a refund for the night. Over time, we have dreams of permaculture farming, eco building workshops, community collaboration, and the ability to host gatherings – however, we are committed to taking it all one step at a time and allowing only what is meant to be to unfold. We brought out wolf pup 16bhsbl travel trailer out to camps the site is huge with plenty of space for 2-3 other families. The directions were easy to follow, however there was one sign that was missing as per the written instructions. One of our party members missed the gate because of the missing sign. The entrance to the camp sign was a little rutted out and you should feel comfortable off roading with a trailer.

This place was great! So thoughtfully designed -- even though there aren't any trees, the campsites are situated so that you can't really see one another when you're in your little space. Lots of little touches, like the lights along the pathway, a nice playground in the park, the cantina in the middle, make it a really pleasant stay. And the showers! Very very nice showers. The host, Adam, was really friendly and accommodating, and we had a really nice stay the very last day of the season. Will definitely return!

Amazing views at this spot! Quiet and secluded as described. Star gazing was incredible. There are quite a bit of cacti so have booties and perimeter set up for dogs if possible. Would recommend if you're interested in secluded off grid spot.

The campground is a basic campground right off the highway. Easy to find easy to navigate through. The signs are well posted. The sites are huge and level, the shower rooms and bathrooms are incredible, they are heated and large. There are also washers and dryers in the building and a vending machine. The hook ups were new and well-placed. And best of all it is priced reasonably, considering how high RV parks have gotten.

Welcome to the Scott Ranch located 10 minutes east of South Fork, CO. Our ranch is easily accessible via a flat, state-maintained road, just seconds off Highway 160. Our family purchased the ranch a couple years ago. We are native Coloradoans who are interested in conservation. The Scott Ranch is a 147 acre, conserved ranch and boasts some of the most beautiful riparian grassland in the valley. We have hundreds of tall cottonwoods bordering 7/10th mile of private, gold medal water on the Rio Grande river. There are literally thousands of species of plants and animals on the property. Come enjoy the incredible sunset views from the firepit perched high above the large pond and be prepared for one the best stargazing experiences in the valley! Please know that we are not an RV park, nor do we want to be. We have only three sites overlooking the lower river corridor. This is intentional because we want your experience to be focused on the beauty of the ranch. The sites are flat and relatively private. Each site is 26x80 (easy pull through) with individual access to power (50 amp, 30 amp and 110 outlet) and water. There is common area that includes a large firepit, small table and charcoal grill for your enjoyment. You also have immediate access to a septic system station next to the sites, at your convenience. The Scott ranch is a working ranch. The lower corridor of the ranch will have livestock (cattle) grazing for several weeks out of the year. (Calving season is adorable!) For insurance reasons, guest access to the lower pastures and river corridor -- defined as any part of the ranch beyond the RV sites -- is only allowed through a separate reservation. If you are interested fly fishing our gold medal waters or simply want to explore the ranch's forest and pastures, please book an RV site first. Access to any part of the ranch beyond RV sites is foot traffic only and 75$ per person per day, unless otherwise arranged. It's first come first serve, limited to one group per day (arranged separately after the RV reservation is paid). We have 1.75 acres.  The history of this property is interesting, varied and historical.  During WWII the property was used as a detainment camp for German POW's.  They were transferred here from Trinidad and Walsenburg CO to work with the farmers in the community, working potatoes.  It was a happy, fruitful work situation and some of the farmers/POW's became good friends, even traveling to visit each other after the war.  Parts of the building are still there. Serendipity.  The land has served as an auto junk yard, repair shop, metal scrap yard, thrift store and more.  As we have worked on the property we have found many treasures that are working their way to the surface.   The location of the property we feel is perfect.  You can get everywhere from here.  We are in the city of Monte Vista limits, town is walking distance.  It sits in the middle of what makes the valley thrive.  Farming (Cows & hay) to the East.  There is also a beautiful view of Mt Blanca and the Sange de Christo mountain range.  When the sun sets you understand the beauty of the mountain and understand why is was named Blood of Christ. There is one fire pit for now, but working on others.  Some firewood is provide.  There are picnic tables in the community area and we are moving toward a working community kitchen.  We are still doing improvements and setup but would love to have you stay with us.  We welcome feedback.  There are 2 porta potties and some non-potable water to use.  For now, come and set up camp where you please.  The tents are not ready yet as we need to glamp them up a little.  Will get them listed as soon as they are ready,  We do allow pets, on leash in the campground.  One of the other amenities we are building is an agility dog park that will be available to campers and members from the community.

Welcome to the Scott Ranch located 10 minutes east of South Fork, CO. Our ranch is easily accessible via a flat, state-maintained road, just seconds off Highway 160. Our family purchased the ranch a couple years ago. We are native Coloradoans who are interested in conservation. The Scott Ranch is a 147 acre, conserved ranch and boasts some of the most beautiful riparian grassland in the valley. We have hundreds of tall cottonwoods bordering 7/10th mile of private, gold medal water on the Rio Grande river. There are literally thousands of species of plants and animals on the property. Come enjoy the incredible sunset views from the firepit perched high above the large pond and be prepared for one the best stargazing experiences in the valley! Please know that we are not an RV park, nor do we want to be. We have only three sites overlooking the lower river corridor. This is intentional because we want your experience to be focused on the beauty of the ranch. The sites are flat and relatively private. Each site is 26x80 (easy pull through) with individual access to power (50 amp, 30 amp and 110 outlet) and water. There is common area that includes a large firepit, small table and charcoal grill for your enjoyment. You also have immediate access to a septic system station next to the sites, at your convenience. The Scott ranch is a working ranch. The lower corridor of the ranch will have livestock (cattle) grazing for several weeks out of the year. (Calving season is adorable!) For insurance reasons, guest access to the lower pastures and river corridor -- defined as any part of the ranch beyond the RV sites -- is only allowed through a separate reservation. If you are interested fly fishing our gold medal waters or simply want to explore the ranch's forest and pastures, please book an RV site first. Access to any part of the ranch beyond RV sites is foot traffic only and 75$ per person per day, unless otherwise arranged. It's first come first serve, limited to one group per day (arranged separately after the RV reservation is paid). Yes, we've allowed riverside camping -- a truly epic experience -- with trust and prior authorization. Fishing is limited to fly rods only. Artificial flies only. Catch and release only.
