Salmon Creek Ranch

7 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents400 acres · Bodega Bay, CA
Located within 45 minutes of the wine country and 2 miles from the coast, our property is 400 acres of rolling hills and redwood groves, with a creek running along its base. With miles of trails meandering through quiet woods and meadows, you will be able to revel in the tranquility of a private preserve, without sacrificing easy access to some of Sonoma County's most famous attractions. A hundred years ago, this land was used to graze sheep. Remnants of the old fence lines can still be seen in places, along with old cement troughs. Since then, the land has been left to its own devices, passing through many hands, most famously owned by two brothers in the 1980's who built a truly amazing tree house in the forest which has been featured in several magazine articles. It was revamped and updated in 2016 by a master craftsman, using fallen redwood logs found on the property and is now a unique structural work of art, available for overnight stays. We produce 100% grass fed, dry-aged beef on our certified organic pastures and have a store on site if you would like to purchase delicious steaks, ribs, ground beef for hamburgers or some roasts to take home. Our cattle graze on the native grasses, never grain, and drink only water produced from our own springs. We also raise Kiko meat goats and produce pastured, certified organic duck eggs on a commercial basis. Whether it's surfing at sandy beaches, award-winning clam chowder, a wine tour, horseback riding or a hot air balloon ride you're after, you won't have far to drive if you make our ranch your base camp. You may see a family of deer appear suddenly, or a few Scottish Highland cows which we allow to roam freely over the property. There are over twenty species of wild birds that grace this protected spot, so bring your binoculars! A portion of your fee goes towards protecting native flora and fauna as part of our private wildlife preservation program. A limited number of private, widely spaced camp spots are available for visitors. The Eagles' Nest Treehouse (mentioned above) is very isolated and you may or may not even be aware that there are other people within miles of you. For those who value nature, seclusion, quiet and the artistry of old growth redwood, this is the place for you.

Bohemian Bus

1 site · Lodging15 acres · Gualala, CA
Converted into my home over a decade ago, this bus served as my home until I bought this property in 2006, and it has since been the deluxe guest bus. It is very comfortable and comes with all the luxury one would expect in a cabin -- hot water, full kitchen, refrigerator, and queen bed. It should be noted however, that the ceiling is 6 foot high, and thus my not be suited to tall people! Also, there is a private toilet, but it is not inside the bus...instead it is a short jaunt from the front door. Also, I suggest bringing flip flops or some kind of easy on and off shoes, both for the bus and the bathroom jaunt. I request that the bus be kept as a "no shoes" environment, as I am discovering that the enviro oak flooring is quite sensitive to wear. Built mainly from recycled & resourced second hand materials, the bus is a 1985 Chevy with a Detroit Diesel engine. Her interior was designed with the "live lightly on the land" aesthetic and all appliances were chosen because they work well with solar power, including propane fridge and oven/stove and wood stove. The bus can sleep kids up to 15 years of age and additional bedding is available -- however it is not "child-proofed" so probably not the best for a toddler. Furthermore, I'm willing to consider small dogs (10 lbs and under), but the bus will not accommodate medium and big-sized dogs. Learn more about this land: An artful school bus located off Hwy 1, 1.5 miles from the Pacific Ocean, provide a secluded, sunny off-grid, creative getaway, with organic gardens, outdoor tubs & "malibu shower", plus fully equipped kitchen, wifi, wood-stove & on-demand hot water.

A Yurt&Aquaponic Farm in RedWoods

1 site · Lodging40 acres · Sea Ranch, CA
No check-in later than 7pm!! HeLLo High on the top of a mountain, minutes from the majestic California Coast and the quaint town of Annapolis CA, you will discover an Eco-Village and Aquaponics Farm like no other. Your stay here in one of our Yurts in the heart of the Farm allow you to experience Off-Grid Living at its Best. Have a guided tour on a SurRon or a e-bike that you own.. Come with Allen Rockefeller & friend's on a journey threw the MeNdOnOmA redwoods during the season. During the day we can be foraging and learning to do some cool app work & photography tricks of the day as we do some mushroom identification on all the different plants here out in the Mendonoma woods. In the evenings we can either do presentations on what we had found & or (perhaps on Psilocybin, mushrooms of Mexico, or microscopy) For those who want to be in a more serious work shop we have them available. people who would like to bring there own microscopes to the classes would be welcomed. the workshop its self where we look at the mushrooms that we found during the day while your enjoying Happy Hopper Aquaponics Farm. These classes start at $350 per day with options to upgrade to where the foraging could be geared towards different edibles, & or towards everything (could be toxic, cool tiny things, etc) or could also teach photography, both with cell phones and DSLR cameras as a hobbie for some and or for the professionals wanting to get more comfortable using there cell phones... A Yurt is a structure native to Mongolia. A portable round tent, traditionally covered with skins or felt and used as a dwelling by nomads in Central Asia. The structure is comprised of an angled assembly, or latticework, of pieces of wood for walls, a door frame, ribs, and a wheel. Our yurts are just one example of sustainable off grid living structures here at our eco-village & aquaponics farm.. Hello and thank you for checking out our Yurt here in the Redwoods. Happy Hopper Aquaponics Farm wants you to enjoy an experience of a lifetime during your stay. While you are here you will be able to experience an Aquaponics Farm Built Off the Grid that produces food for the local communities and restaurants established here in our community in Mendonoma. This is a healing experience for several with the enjoyment of the rabbits and turkeys and the chickens and oh yeah the duck area could be and enjoyable time for those who need a little animal time and or holding the rabbits or baby chicks and or ducks when the spring time is coming.. Due to the location and uniqueness of our Farm there are a few Rules and Regulations that MUST be adhered to. During you're stay here at Happy Hopper Aquaponics Farm WE PLEASE ask you to respectfully have no fires in the pit areas at this time. No items that can catch fire, which means lit cigarettes, joints and your smokable pipes. Although welcomed, these types of items must be used and stored safely AT ALL TIMES. Out of the reach of children and/or animals. We would like to offer you the opportunity to be able to bring out a propane camping stove and or a Buddy Heater which is something that is really useful for people who like to keep warm. Any other items that you like to use while your camping are welcomed as well. This allows you to enjoy your time here a little more if you wish to be warm and comfy. LoL Another way of keeping yourself warm is to bring your thermals or extra clothing you can layer to keep warm until the sun is out and about around noon. This time of the year the coolness comes from the fog and the changing seasons, Fall and then Winter. With these changes the woods are shedding to get ready for winter as well. The fog usually burns off by noon from here to off the coastline. During the cooler winter months you would be able to have a fireplace roaring and enjoying the woods and the environment around you, especially on a rainy day. The best time to be here to experience a wood-burning stove experience is winter for sure..the lovely smoke of the winter day is awesome and the rain falling on the roof of the Yurt making its own melody while you wake up is something you must experience, at least once for sure. During mushroom season is when we can go foraging for different mushroom 🍄 types and cook them up at dinner 🥘 time. Please feel free to reach out to us at wintertime for info for classes or those lessons that we offer. www.happyhopperaquaponicsfarm.com. Okay so a few rules for the property: We do not flush ANY toiletry items down the toilet. We use a trash can to recycle your toiletry items. Water conservation is a MUST here. Please do not over use the water as we are an Aquaponics Farm self sustained established business here to conserve and use water accordingly. There is a His and Hers sinks available with a toilet and a shower but please this is not a free-for-all to run water as you would in your own home. We conserve water by shutting off the water while you're brushing your teeth, washing your hands & or the dishes or taking a shower. Please respect our wishes and rules and try to encourage this throughout the rest of the world as water is a precious resource which we do not like to abuse use. Your furry friend is welcome here. The kitchen cabin is fully stocked with kitchenware and available to you. Please if you do come to stay here and you bring your dog or your cat or pet, they are not allowed on any of the furniture or any of the items in the Yurt. During your stay they must stay in a crate or the use of the crates that we have available, or fenced-in dog areas we have here available for night time use of course.. we have no problems with dogs as we have several here on the property. If we do find that the animals are mistreating the beds and or the items inside the Yurt you will be charged a fee for those items being cleaned. While staying in the Guest Yurt you are welcome to use and partake in any of the amenities and items that are placed out for you to enjoy your stay while you're here with us at Happy Hopper Aquaponics Farm. Fab Future Forest

3 sites · Lodging40 acres · Geyserville, CA
This beautiful primary forest and nature reserve is located on the west slopes of Dry Creek Valley, with spectacular views overlooking vineyards and rolling hills. Come and enjoy a low-impact elevated camping experience, peaceful hikes, and nearby wineries (some within walking distance). You will be in a peaceful forest paradise, while still enjoying the convenience of 60 wineries less than 12 minutes away, Healdsburg Plaza and Lake Sonoma only 15 minutes away, and Russian River adventures, Santa Rosa movie theaters, and scores of restaurants within a 10 to 25-minute drive. The forest is on the natural frontier between coastal rainforest and inland forest. You will see redwood fairy rings and fallen redwoods indicating that rainforest covered the property centuries ago. Inland forest crept in at least 150 years ago when some of the magnificent, moss-covered oaks first sprouted. The biggest rainforest foothold is a grove of old-growth Douglas Firs in the northwest corner of the forest. Here's a partial list of fungi, flora, and fauna: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Del_ca3bE1DxjQU75e6muD7OA1387j7jMIw0waidzdM/edit?usp=sharing We are striving to improve the health of the forest as we share it with you. We don't clear or level campsites, but rather, we offer you the unique opportunity to enjoy a stay in a suspended treenet tipi or in the most comfortable all-weather hammock camping setup available. In this same forest-healing spirit, paths to the campsites follow deer trails and fallen redwoods to minimize the impact on vegetation and underground mycelium networks. In managing the forest, we only cut invasive trees or native trees that have died. The result is that you get the increasingly rare experience of a forest that has never been logged and where dead trees were left to feed hundreds of species of fungi. We are so happy to be able to share the sights and sounds and smells of this magnificent forest with you. We hope you enjoy it and please let us know if there is anything that we can do to make your stay more pleasant.

Glamping in California Wine Country with fishing guide

Overview

While there are actually about a dozen wine tasting destinations throughout the state, Napa and Sonoma are arguably the most well-known regions of California Wine Country. Head to the tasting rooms of Healdsburg, Sonoma, or St. Helena—wine country towns where you’ll find provisions to support any Hipcamp adventure—or venture along the Silverado Trail, set amid rolling vineyards in the Napa Valley. Between tastings, nestle among the Bodega Dunes or soak up the vistas from Sugarloaf Ridge. Summer weekends are the most popular time for visitors, but it’s worth seeing the grapevines awash in vivid colors during autumn months.

Where to go

Napa Valley

Sip elegant wines and pack up artisanal treats to supply your picnic in Yountville, St. Helena, or Napa. (Oxbow Public Market is a must-stop for provisions.) The Silverado Trail is also teeming with prestigious wineries, and if the weather cooperates, it’s possible to ride bikes along this scenic country wine route, which travels a 30-mile distance between Napa and Calistoga.

Sonoma Valley

Exploring the coastal hills and valleys of Sonoma County, Hipcampers will find plenty of glamping spots among the vineyards. Sip your way through the Dry Creek Valley or the Sonoma Valley (aka Valley of the Moon), with the Russian River winding between them. History buffs can explore California’s last mission at Sonoma State Historic Park.

Russian River

Check out the Geyserville Sculpture Trail, then pop into the boutiques, wine shops, and eateries surrounding Healdsburg’s historic plaza. You can dip into the refreshing waters of the Russian River at Memorial Beach before making a detour through Guerneville to the river’s coastal outlet at Jenner, stopping en route to hike in Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve.

Sonoma Coast

Public beaches sprinkle Sonoma Coast State Park—ideal for pitching a tent or setting up your RV. From Bodega Bay to Jenner-by-the-Sea and all the way to remote Gerstle Cove at Salt Point, it isn’t hard to find your getaway. Devour crab sandwiches and slurp oysters, discover Russian settlements at Fort Ross State Park, hike the coastside Kortum Trail, or simply stroll along miles of sandy shoreline.
