Hill Farm Secluded Camping

5 units · Motorhomes, Tents5 acres · Darsham, England
Fancy some secluded downtime exploring rural coastal Suffolk? The tree-shaded pitches at Hill Farm are in a peaceful setting near the market towns of Saxmundham and Halesworth, and handily accessible from the A12, as well as to the coast and pretty villages, historical hamlets, and popular seaside towns, such as Southwold and Aldeburgh. This is a site that welcomes families and groups of friends, and it's dog-friendly too (there’s a four-acre woodland to the north of the site that's great for dog walking). The site has good TV reception for relaxing indoors on damp or chilly days. Campfires are allowed too, so you can keep warm and toasty while grilling up a barbecue feast. The popular village of Westleton (10 minutes’ drive) has a village store, a farm shop, a garage and 2 pubs; and if you fancy a change from cooking, there is also a nice pub and a tearoom, in the Darsham village area (only 5 minutes drive or a 30 minute walk away through some lovely fields). Back on site, there’s a toilet cabin with hot running water, plus other facilities including 2 showers, a portaloo, and a washing machine, grey waste and chemical toilet disposal and recycling points. Wi-fi is nearly all over the camping site too.

Campsites near Happisburgh guide

Overview

A bit about Happisburgh

The small village of Happisburgh on the north Norfolk coast has become even smaller over the past 50 years owing to the rapidly eroding sand-and-clay cliffs on which the village is built. At the foot of them, a pleasant sandy beach is popular for walking throughout the year, while a boat-launching point just south of Happisburgh, in Cart Gap, makes the beach popular with jet-skis and small motorboats in summer. The Norfolk Coastal Path also runs along the clifftop and further southeast to Sea Palling beach and Horsey Gap.

In such a flat county, the red and white striped lighthouse that Happisburgh is best known for stands out for miles, partnered by the tall tower of St Mary’s Church, one of the largest for miles. There is a pub and tearooms beside the church – The Hill House Inn – and, formerly, a view-tastic cliff-top campsite behind the pub that has sadly now relocated inland, due to the coastal erosion, and thereby lost its major selling point. There are, however, ample camping options nearby, both further along the north Norfolk coast and more locally to Happisburgh. One of the many benefits of camping near Happisburgh is the proximity not just of the beach and coast but also of the Norfolk Broads, which are just a 10-minute drive from the village.
