It is considered probable that Samuel de Champlain, the first European to explore Huronia, spent a night on this site in the 17th Century.In 1892, what would become the west side of the current property was sold by pioneer Captain Thomas Stanton to Toronto's renowned Massey family to act as their summer resort. The resort sported the main lodge, dining room, and cottages and was only accessible by train and steamer. From the onset, the Masseys used the site as a summer retreat for the Young Men's Bible League of the Central Methodist Church. Today, the property is a thriving summer camp that also offers overnight tent stays with stunning lake views.

Many attractions and conveniences only 10-15 mins away in Port Sydney, Bracebridge and Huntsville. Nearby is a the beautiful public Mary Lake beach and boat launch in Port Sydney. There is NO HUNTING permitted on the property. Please expect bugs, flies and mosquitoes. Deck is mostly enclosed to make star filled nights that much more enjoyable. There is also a sugar shack and garage on the property for viewing purposes only. There is an outdoor propane shower and a large cooler available for your convenience as well. We have a canoe and a kayak that my guests can use to paddle to the falls which are about 600 m upstream and feature a beautiful set of falls and swimming area Great for a trip with kids, having lunch or portage and continue the journey on the river upstream to lower fry lake Hook up to non potable ( river water ) is an option with your own hoses Electrical hook up is a possibility as well to charge the battery in your RV. There are plans for an outhouse for campers and a small outdoor kitchen area Laundry facilities are available as well in my basement if needed
