If you are looking for manicured, super flat areas or have a fear of animals - this is NOT the place for you. There are also a HUGE number of factors that can affect your stay that I have ZERO control over... The seasons change a lot of things throughout the course of the year: we have snakes (like ALL Aussie bush places) for most of the year, according to their seasons, varying growth stages of grasses (long, short, brown, green and sometimes grass seeds/prickles.. along with some crazy weather (high winds, high temps, storms) on occassion - NONE of which I have any control over.. so if you are a moaning myrtle and any of those things are likely to bother you, please don't come to our property... If you accept that you are staying on a working hobby farm / equine property and that I have no control over nature - then welcome, there is much beauty here for those who have the eyes to see - and as a base to explore the Perth area, we have a pretty convenient spot :)

Jacaranda Hill Farm

16 sites · RVs, Tents108 acres · WA
We are closed from 1 Dec through to 31 March due to High Fire Risk. Our 43-hectare property is on the edge of the Darling Scarp behind the historical Fairbridge Village. Only 1 hour south of Perth, so it is close enough for a quick weekend getaway but far enough to enjoy the silence of the bush. There are elevated campsites with views west towards Mandurah and the Peel Estuary, northwest views toward Perth City, and three dams on the property. Guests must be fully self-contained, as no toilets or showers are available. Just amazing views :) Some locations are suitable for tents only, and some for caravans only. 4WD/AWDs are recommended as most sites are not easily accessible with a 2WD vehicle, especially during winter. Dog friendly. Campfires are permitted in designated areas with the host's approval (depending on fire restrictions). We are closed over the summer period due to increased fire risk.

100-Acre Woods

18 sites · RVs, Tents100 acres · Mandurah, WA
We are a hobby farm set on 100-acres on the North Dandalup scarp, with a few sheep. You will find kangaroos, echidnas, sometimes emus visiting our property. You can enjoy the great views into the horizon towards the Indian Ocean amidst the tall jarrah and gum trees. Campsites are set in the woodlands, some with views. It’s perfect for people seeking 'quiet' time away, but still near to amenities in the towns around here. You can take walks to experience forest therapy, have a campfire or canoe in the dams during wintertime. There is no power, water or toilet facilities so campers must be completely self-contained. You are expected to clear up and take all rubbish with you. Leave no trace. The terrain is rather hilly, hence a few sites are accessible only by 4WD (Sembawang and Changi). There are some sites that are still accessible with regular cars (Opera 1, 2 or 3; Tampines, Bedok). RVs and small caravans are welcomed. All vehicles have to stay on the paths, and not to make any tracks. During the summer fire season, fires are strictly prohibited! The fire ban commenced on 1 Oct 2023 (Shire of Murray). Dogs welcome (on leash).

The Northern half of the property is a combination of pasture and native trees, while the Southern half is native bush. Guests are welcome to roam the entire property with the exception of the owner's residence and sheds.

Coastal Hideaway

2 sites · RVs, Tents5 acres · Herron, WA
Come enjoy our 5-acre Coastal Hideaway nestled along Mandurah estuary, just 30km south of Mandurah CBD. Immerse yourself in a pristine bush setting mere minutes from both the beach and the enchanting Mandurah Estuary. Enjoy crabbing and fishing, and for ocean enthusiasts, indulge in fishing and surfing activities by the nearby coast. The perfect blend of tranquility and adventure. Our property is on a steep hill, our views from our home are too good not to share with you! We currently offer just one camp spot, "The Platform site" that pictures of the view just don't do it justice! Its located right on our back door step, so please be mindful, we love the community environment & love a good chat, so if you are after complete privacy perhaps this isn't the place for you. The Terrain: Please bring a sand mat, as after a long dry summer its very sandy & boggy. Just be mindful with larger vehicles, there is the chance of getting bogged. Friendly dogs welcome: However our property isn't fenced we ask all dogs to remain on leash, kids will also need to be kept a close eye on due to the steep terrain. We have also just started fostering a dog who barks when she sees other dogs, we are doing our best to minimise and control this, and hoping that exposure therapy will slowly help her, we can usually tame her inside. There is also friendly free ranged chickens roaming, we are happy to put them away if your doggos think they may be dinner! There is no cooking facilities on site, also please read up on the fire ban in the area the dates you are looking to come, if fire ban is present no open flames are aloud! Tea, coffee and cacao available on request, you can add on later to your booking if you decide. You can also purchase free range eggs and even rent a paddle board, and some crab scoops. We look forward to hosting you at our property, Ebony & Eurwyn

Camping near Mandurah guide

Overview

Sitting between the Indian Ocean and the Harvey Estuary, Western Australia’s second biggest city is just an hour south of the capital Perth. Also known as Mandjoogoordap, which means “meeting place” in the Noongar language, Mandurah has almost as many waterways as it does roads, with pods of dolphins found cruising around the canals that crisscross the city. A great jumping-off point to explore the rest of the Peel region and the southwest, Mandurah is ideally located to explore Dwellingup, see the thrombolites at Lake Clifton, head to Serpentine Falls, or visit Yalgorup National Park. There are plenty of caravan parks and campsites to choose from too, including family-friendly campgrounds right on the foreshore.

Where to go

Mandurah, Yunderup & Pinjarra

A camper’s (or glamper’s) dream, there’s no end of things to do in Mandurah, from relaxing around Dolphin Quay to kayaking up the Harvey Estuary to crabbing, hiking, or hitting up the golf course. Accommodation options are just as varied, with everything from Mandurah coastal holiday parks to country chalets and riverfront campsites with jumping pillows. A short drive southwest of Mandurah, both Yunderdup and Pinjarra also offer great campgrounds and relaxed, country-town vibes.

Herron Point, Lake Clifton & Lake Preston

Follow Old Coast Road south from Mandurah and you’ll soon come upon a series of limestone-shored lakes. Running parallel to the coastline, Lake Clifton is probably the best-known, with the funky thrombolite reef bringing visitors from miles around. If you prefer to set up camp around Old Coast Road there are plenty of options, too, including campsites on Lake Preston (suitable for motorhomes, campervans, and camper trailers), and a bush campground in Yalgorup National Park.

Dwellingup

Just over half an hour east of Mandurah, Dwellingup is both the Peel Region and Western Australia’s outdoor adventure capital, with world-class mountain bike tracks, rafting, hiking, and Lane Poole Reserve and the Hotham Valley Railway right on its doorstep. A popular getaway spot, accommodation options range from family-friendly caravan parks to campsites in the national park and luxury hideaways just a short stroll from town.

When to go

A popular destination year-round, Mandurah has plenty to offer, whatever the weather. While summer is the most popular month for campers, who come in hoards to check out the canal Christmas lights and stay for the beaches, it can get a little toasty. If the heat isn’t your thing then spring and autumn are great times to visit—with the flowers and the leaves both putting on seasonal shows in neighboring Dwellingup.
