Fickle Break Farm is a 28-acre coastal property on the doorstep of a world-class surf break, only 30 mins from Hobart. You can walk out the door with your surfboard, bike, or running shoes and jump in the ocean or onto several beautiful coastal walking and riding trails.
We are 10 minutes away from Lauderdale shops and 10 mins to the best surf beaches in Hobart on the South Arm Peninsula.
Pitch your tent or park your set up on our beautiful grassy hilltop campsite overlooking the South Arm Peninsula and Mt Wellington in the distance. You'll enjoy good access to Mays Point surf break and the Clarence Coastal Trail just a few mins away with walking tracks to Cremorne and Lauderdale along the coast.
The camping area has a communal fire pit, access to fresh water and power in our large shed if needed, and a table tennis table. We are on tank water, so please be mindful of this. And please drive slowly and be mindful of treading lightly on the land.
We also offer a 5m lotus belle stargazer tent, situated at the very top of the property, nestled amongst the native trees and with water views, it has a luxurious queen-sized bed with beautiful linens and is a short walk away from the walking tracks to the beach.
All guests have access to our well-maintained composting toilet with water views and a beautiful hot outdoor shower that is open to the sky.
Next door is a large sheep property, and on our land we have friendly chooks, peacocks, Guinea pigs, miniature goats, horses and a border collie. Guests and children are welcome to pat, feed and cuddle the chooks, Guinea pigs, horses and the miniature goats!
Dogs are welcome as long as they are friendly with other dogs and people, and can be trusted not to escape to the next-door sheep property (beware as farmers can be ruthless with dogs!). They will need to be supervised and restrained (tied up or placed in our closed-in yard at night so they don’t disturb wallabies and other wildlife).
We love meeting new people and are passionate about our beautiful property so we can’t wait to share it with you!

The property offers several different areas to chose from to pitch or park, all sandy with green areas, a fair few flat spots and also one concrete slab.
Position yourself to take advantage of the ocean views. The property is within walking distance to local Bistro, 1km from Okines Beach, 3km from the surf beach and 3km from the shops with a local bakery, butcher and Hills Supermarket.
There are no facilities here, so you must be fully self contained, and take all waste with you. I can however provide water or power for a small fee. Campfires are welcome wood can be supplied at a fee.

GATEWAY TO PORT ARTHUR
The Forcett Inn is a small 25-acre self-sufficient farm that has its own cattle, sheep, and chickens on the property. You will feel like you're in the middle of nowhere yet you are just 6km from the town of Sorell, 10 minutes from surf beach, pubs, cafes, and shops, in the hub of the region's many attractions.
We welcome self-contained travelers, you must have your own camp toilet and take all waste with you when you go. The property and sites have good drive-in and out access, and the sites overlook the pretty Forcett Rivulet.
Unhook your van and leave on the secure grounds while you explore everything that is in the area. Turn right and there are Vineyards, Coal Valley is 15 minutes away, Frogmore, Riversdale, Puddle Duck, Pooleys, Wobbly Boot, and many many more. Hobart 40mins, with Salamanca markets every Saturday, Mona Ferry, Cascade brewery, all the restaurants and shops on the waterfront, and wharves. Enjoy the views from Mt Wellington. A bit further past Hobart and you are in the cider tasting area, call into Willie Smith for a cider experience or catch the ferry to go and visit Bruny Island.
Turn Left and you have some boutique vineyards: Cape Bernier, and Bangor,
all around 30 mins away and offer food as well. Unzoo devil park, Port Arthur and the coal mines, Eaglehawk neck, Tesselated Pavement, Blow hole, Lavender farm.
Firepits are supplied, and Firewood can be purchased at time of booking if you're planning on having a campfire .
Ten minutes drive to dump site and water refill.

Semaphore Farm is a 400-acre property with convict history, bordering the Port Arthur historic site. It is a private timber reserve and a working forest farm. We have a combination of native eucalypt forest and plantation, and we grow hay and our own beef.
We have many walking and bike trails through the 150 acres of forest and pasture accessible to campers.
The campsite has spring water on tap, a hot shower, toilet, rustic camp kitchen, wood stove, gas BBQ, level sites, and a campfire when permitted. Tent sites are flexible so you can choose your own space within a 2-hectare area, while Level pad sites are limited.
The Port Arthur Historic Site and a safe swimming beach are within walking distance and Safety Cove and Remarkable Cave are only a 5-minute drive away. Longer walks, including the Three Capes tracks, are easily accessible.
Launch your boat nearby to access good fishing or fish for squid off the Port Arthur jetty.
There is plenty of wildlife to see at night and birds during the day. You might even see our resident Wedgetail Eagle!

Prossers Ridge Richmond is 52 acres of rural paradise within close proximity to the heritage town of Richmond. The topography slopes up from the road to a large flat top and is dotted with weathered gum trees. There are sweeping views in all directions, including a view of the sunrise to the east and spectacular sunset views toward Hobart's Kunanyi (Mount Wellington).
The property has good access for all vehicles, and there are plenty of flat sites for camping at the top of the property. Some minor leveling may be required in parts for RVs. Plenty of space though to find your own peaceful, private patch. And you're welcome to bring your doggo along too!
We can only accept self-contained campers, so you'll need to have your own camp toilet. There is a dump point within 10km, located in Sorell.

Sounds Rivulet Campsite

Sounds Rivulet is a private bush campsite at Murdunna for people to enjoy while visiting the Forestier and Tasman Peninsulas. Campers can expect to have the entire site to themselves, shared with only the local wildlife. Only one group can book the site at a time. Sounds Rivulet is a small freshwater stream that runs all year round and is less than 100 meters from the campsite.
Sounds Rivulet is pet friendly and campfires are allowed in the designated area on suitable days, not on total fire ban days. Please check the TAS Fire website for updates on fire bans.
The campground has easy access for large vehicles with a turning circle, suitable for people with two-wheel drive cars, large cars towing caravans and boats, not for very large caravans ( a guest found it too challenging to get their car plus 9 meter caravan into the site) . There is a composting toilet for campers to use, please bring your own loo paper. There are also public toilets located 2km away, near the Murdunna shop which stocks a small range of groceries, supplies, and fuel. There is also a jetty and boat ramp at Murdunna.
The campsite is centrally located and provides a perfect base to explore the natural beauty the surrounding area offers. A five-minute drive south will bring you to amazing views over the Tasman sea cliffs and the Cubed Coffee Van at Pirates Bay Lookout. A further two minutes south will take you to Eaglehawk Neck Beach. Dunalley Bay is a five-minute drive north and a perfect place to watch the sunset over the Bay.
The Tasman Peninsula is home to world-class fishing and hiking, there are also a range of surf breaks for all abilities and a sheltered beach a short drive from the camp at Sommers Bay.

There is also a power lead if you just want to run power to your own set-up. Campfires are a must - nothing better than watching the sun set around the campfire.
This is a leave no trace property that suits campers who bring everything they need (including a camping toilet) and remove everything they bring. Good access for 2WD vehicles and caravans.

The property is 3km from Primrose Sands Beach (great for safe swimming). It is 4.5km from Carlton Beach (great for surfing), 37km from Port Arthur and 13km from Sorell. Hobart is 45km.

Bookings are for two adults; children under 16 are free. It may be possible for larger groups to occupy one site - please enquire before booking.
As the site is teeming with wildlife including the barred bandicoot, we don't allow dogs.
There are no facilities on the block apart from a long drop dunny (byo paper) and a small supply of non-potable water so you will need to be self-sufficient though there are good meals at the nearby Lufra Hotel and excellent coffee just up the road at the legendary Cubed Coffee van.
We only make provision for two campsites so you'll never be crowded.

As we are a fully self contained campground we do not provide power, toilets or showers. You'll need to have your own amenities and discard of any rubbish .

We have 3km of our own hiking trails, and great mountain biking. Drop your kayak or fishing rod in just a few meters from the property.
Please note: We only accept one vehicle setup per group (e.g combi-van, car+ campertrailer, car+caravan). We do however have a decent level parking area not far from the camping site, so if you have multiple vehicles yet are tent camping for example, you can park the additional vehicles in the carpark and walk to camp. Multiple caravanners traveling together will need to book separately.
We accept well-behaved pets.
Most of the sites don’t have power, but we have a charging area for your devices. We also have a composting toilet, portaloo and an outdoor passive solar shower.
