Tucked amid the wheatfields just off the Eyre Highway, Wudinna is best known as the gateway to the Gawler Ranges National Park. This means Wudinna camping is a popular option among those looking to head into the park by day and retire at a quiet campsite with BBQ grills, picnic tables, and serenity by night. Wudinna caravan parks typically offer powered sites, dump points, and full amenities on-site. You can get a taste of the views by climbing Mount Wudinna just north of town, but the most impressive rock formations lie within the national park. Hike to see the famous Organ Pipes, trek to Yandina Five Falls or Sturt’s Waterfall, or explore off-road in a 4WD, looking out for kangaroos, wombats, and emus along the way. There are six national park campgrounds to choose from, some accessible for high-clearance 2WD caravans, but facilities are basic and there’s no drinking water, so you’ll need to bring everything with you. Once it’s time to hit the road again, the road south runs straight down the Eyre Peninsula.
