Bayside Glamping

1 site · Lodging1 acre · Marion Bay, SA
Bayside Glamping offers a unique glamping experience in Marion Bay, SA, on the door step of the gorgeous Dhilba Guuranda-Innes National Park. Our glamping setup is only for 2 adults, and is perfect for couple’s getaways, or two friends wanting to relax near the beach together. Our setup is completely unique, as its made of mostly recycled timber to add to it's exclusive charm. Bayside consists of a 5 metre wide, double door bell tent, on a deck with an outdoor kitchen and indoor bathroom, all with hot water and electricity. Inside the generously sized tent, is a bed with a pillow-top mattress, complete with luxurious bedding from Eco Downunder, where you’ll have the perfect night’s sleep drifting off to the sound of waves crashing in the background. The tent is lit by bedside lamps at night, and has a variety of battery operated candles to set the mood. A fan is also included. The outdoor kitchen has a bar fridge, gas BBQ with hot plate and grill plate, plates, cups, platters, mugs, glasses (drinking, wine & champagne), small coffee plunger, utensils and cutlery. The kitchen also has oil and paper towel. The fully indoor bathroom has a hot shower, vanity and flushing toilet. The large deck has a dining area and deck chairs for catching some rays. The deck area is lit up at night by fairy lights and solar lanterns, to add to the magical atmosphere. Inclusions: • Variety of teas, coffee, sugar & small milks • Natural Look Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash • Eco Downunder luxurious bedding • Eco Downunder bath sheets, face washes, hand towel & bathmat Fun extras: • Pack of playing cards • Connect 4 • Puzzles • Books • Colouring in books and pencils You have access to the full site, with no shared amenities. You will notice that the site is on the back of my dad's property, but it is completely private. Other things to note: Pets aren’t allowed sorry, as much as we’d love to let you bring your furry friend on holidays, the tent isn’t suitable to leave a dog in while going into the National Park. Mobile phone signal is limited, whilst Telstra and Optus work in the town, Vodafone stops working just after Warooka. Please also note that there is very limited mobile phone signal in Innes National Park. To keep our setup as in touch with nature as possible, all facilities are not completely out of the weather. Whilst glamping is a major step above camping, the kitchen facilities and table and chairs are still prone to bad weather.

Marron Bush Escape

7 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents250 acres · Western River, SA
Welcome to Marron Bush Escape, located in Gosse, in the Western River area (western end, near Flinders Chase National Park) of beautiful Kangaroo Island! This is a beautiful, remote, rural 250 acre private property, it is home to a number of sheep, features dams that have Marron and boasts the best that nature has to offer. Rest assured, you will not see any neighbours on this property; just picturesque landscapes everywhere you look! It is approximately a 1.5 hour drive from Penneshaw, where you get off the ferry. We offer powered and unpowered camp sites, as well as a bush, cabin. Camp fires (small) are allowed when fire restrictions allow. There is a fire pit that can be used when there is no fire ban, with barbecue plate and camp ovens for old-style bush cooking or cooking up your fresh organic Kangaroo Island Marron. There is a drop toilet at the back and external lights and an external kitchen sink with hot and cold water. There is one drop dunny and limited rain water (you are welcome to bring your own drinking water if you need extra). For your convenience, there are recycling and rubbish bins at corner of Snug and Colman’s Rd for all waste disposal. On half of our property we have sheep and lambs in the paddocks. Bring your camera, and you just might be lucky enough to see little lambs playing and even being born. We may also be shearing and invite you to see how this is done. The other half of the property is untouched natural scrub with grass and trees 12 foot tall. There are koalas, eagles, kangaroos, wallabies, echidnas and lots of other native animals and a creek with small waterfalls. In winter time the ground can be boggy, so a 4WD is desirable and will allow you to explore further. From the cabin, make your way down past the dams and go through the shiny gate at the bottom of the hill (please close the gate behind you). Here, you'll discover 125 acres of untouched Kangaroo Island wilderness with walking trails to explore. Keep an eye out for koalas, kangaroos, wedge-tail eagles, wallabies, large grass trees etc We also have two small lakes that you can have a picnic by or drop some Marron nets in for a fresh feed. There are weighing scales provided at the shed so you can pay for them. This is on an honesty system- so please do the right thing, as we have already been burnt from the fires. You must contact me if you wish to fish for marron prior to catching any. There are no shops or restaurants close by (stock up before arriving!) and you will need to travel down dirt roads but you will really have the opportunity to get off the grid, get back to nature and make memories in the stunning, untouched, Kangaroo Island wilderness! Local attractions include: Kelly Hill Caves Flinders Chase National Park Stokes Bay Cape Borda Lighthouse Middle River Western River

Emu Bay Hideaway, Kangaroo Island

5 sites · RVs, Tents60 acres · Emu Bay, SA
30 hectares of peace, mainly vegetated with Kangaroo Island Narrow-leaved Mallee (Eucalyptus cneorifolia, a nationally-protected ecological community). Kangaroos and wallabies are in abundance. Choose a site facing southeast and overlooking Shoal Bay towards Kingscote, it has a wonderful feeling of remoteness and seclusion. Alternatively, you can choose a spot yourself to set up camp anywhere on the property. There are no amenities so guests need to be 100% self-sufficient (including BYO drinking water and toilet) and leave no trace. It is a wild block and only five minutes from the iconic Emu Bay, where the white sandy beach runs for 4kms, most of which is backed by 10 to 20-meter-high dunes. It is one of the best beaches on the island with crystal-clear water. Check with me before lighting a campfire - this depends on the season and risk. Dogs are permitted if well controlled (register visiting dogs with local council). IMPORTANT: I have very limited access to the Internet, only periodically every few days, if that. Therefore, I may take some time to respond to inquiries. It is preferred that if you have questions, you can text or call me, Rosalie, on 0490485123. Please note - all bookings MUST still go through the Hipcamp system, no exceptions. Kangaroo Island is serviced by regular ferry - check SeaLink for details.

Kangaroo Island Jump Off Road

5 sites · RVs, Tents2000 acres · Inneston, SA
Edenvale Pastorals was originally established as a solider settlers farm, and later was purchased by the Wilmott family in 2001 and converted to regenerative cell grazing cattle farm. The farm was leased for a few years, up until the recent 2019-2020 bush fires. Since the bush fires our family has decided to move back onto the farm and start the rebuild. We will be continuing with the sustainable farming practices and want to give people the opportunity to stay and enjoy the west end. No need to bring your own tent, stay with up to three people in a suspended tent! We can also provide bedding. Should you have a group larger than three, where some people can bring their own gear, we have space for them too. We have a hot outdoor shower, and compost toilet. Pets are also welcome, however must not be in the tent, and must not harass the wildlife. The suspended tent sleeps 3 people maximum. If you have any additional people who bring their own camping gear they are welcome to book our other listing 'Jump Off Road Camp (own gear).' The surrounding paddocks are home to our cattle that pass through occasionally, and during the afternoons you have the opportunity to observe the abundant wild life that come to life, as well as a healthy bird life among the trees. On your stay you have the choice of enjoying the walks and hikes through out the De'mole river and Cape Torrens that are at your door step, go sightseeing in the national park, the De Tong Ling Stupa, Billy Goat water falls or even Western River Cove or just relax and enjoy the serenity of your suspended tree tent experience.Either way, we hope you enjoy what the west end has to offer. Flinders Chase National Park is 40km via bitumen road or 27 km via Shackle road. Keep up to date with road closures through Flinders Chase national park website. Cape Borda Light house is 23km from our farm, there are several hikes in that area such as the Ravine Des Casoars and Harveys return. Keep tabs on their website as the park is closed, however still accessible by foot from the gate. De Tong Ling Stupa is 20km from our farm and is open to the public to visit. Billy Goat waterfalls generally has water flowing through mid winter, but regardless is a beautiful easy hike that comes alive with fungus and orchids early winter and during spring. Be mindful we are 45 minutes from the closest fuel station, at Parndana, and most places close early so it would be wise to be well prepared before getting here. 15km of the road is dirt, just take it easy if you're in a 2wd, and be aware of eagles, kangaroos and wallabies. Please get in touch if you have any questions. We look forward to having you!

Ballara Art & Lifestyle Retreat

2 sites · RVs4 acres · Warooka, SA
A brief history of Ballara...Ballara is the 100-year-old family home built for William and Emilia (Millie) Baker & their five children. Built in 1910, it is understood Millie would not come to Warooka until the house was finished and furnished! Wise woman!William Baker came to Warooka as a young boy in 1884 with his mother, sister and 2 brothers, after the sudden death of his father. In the early 1900s, Will and his brother Alf became storekeepers, trading as Baker Bros. and running 2 stores in Warooka. Will, Alf and younger brother, Tom, also went on to become farmers.William met Millie when she came from Ballarat to visit her sister who lived at Warooka. Millie named her new home 'Ballara' in memory of her home town.A feature of the house is its ornate ceilings, and story has it that visitors came from afar especially to view them.William ran a wheat agency from an office on the front verandah and was also a contact for World War 1 recruitment. In 1927, William sadly died at only 50 years of age, leaving Millie on her own with their 5 children Doreen, Dulcie, William jr. (Bill), Ron, and Betsy.Millie died in 1965 and Ron continued living at Ballara until his death in 1988.Having never married and with no children of his own, Ron left the house and contents to his 10 nieces and nephews. After the family furniture was divided, Bill bought the house and placed it in the names of his three daughters.Carli and Penny were both able to enjoy some time living in the family home. Ballara still remains in the Baker family and is currently being cared for by Bill’s youngest daughter, Steph.
