Find coastal camping, boating, fishing, and epic sunsets on the Eyre Peninsula.
Elliston, on the western coast of the Eyre Peninsula, is a small coastal community with great beaches, a dramatic coastline, and several caravan parks. It’s a handy spot for road trips through South Australia, or along Australia’s southern coastal route into Western Australia, as it’s an hour’s detour off the Eyre Highway. It’s far enough from the highway that it’s peaceful and sees fewer travellers passing through, but it’s easy to connect back onto the highway without backtracking. As well as facilities in the town, there are more camping options just up the coast at Pablo’s Beach, which is beside the extensive wetlands of the Lake Newland Conservation Park. Wherever you set up camp, pick a west-facing spot to enjoy the epic sunsets. Formal campgrounds often have swimming pools, while simpler sites often just have toilets and a shower, so come well prepared.
