Upgrade from tent to tower. This two-story let down your hairBnB is perfect for a peaceful weekend to write, think, and relax in Northwestern Connecticut. The site is literally right in our backyard which means it has electricity and wifi. BUT, if your coming for lightning fast (wifi or) living, this is not the place for you. It’s a sleepy two-tiered tower with a ladder in between floors. It’s 100 square feet down below and maybe 90 square feet up top. Both floors have small space heaters to keep the tower warm on cold Northern-Connecticut nights. Downstairs is a simple 10x10 hideaway with a full bed for two guests (or one to snore and flail about without judgement). Climb the ladder to the upstairs to find a desk, chair, a place to write or work, a set of book shelves and a window on each of the four walls. Watch the sun rise through the east facing window and the sun set through the west. I just put an AC in the east window in case it gets hot. If you've got a kid (or friend) who can climb a ladder, the upstairs can also be a sleeping loft for a third guest.

Cannot wait to return and try to other sites! The writers tower offered a much needed, peaceful, quiet getaway after months of overworking. Hosts were generous, gracious, kind, all around wonderful people. Site was absolutely stunning and it was SO HARD to pack up and go!
My solo three-day stay at Writer’s Tower is a a truly unforgettable part of my summer. The moment I arrived I was met with kindness, a tour of the beautiful forest mountainside property, and had more than enough on site to make the stay comfortable. The Tower is just an awesome structure and if you are looking for the isolation to write and think, like Jack Nicholson in The Shining, you’ll find that too (just without the murder and mental derangement). The hosts are great, the surrounding valley towns are scattered and wonderful, and my only complaint is that I didn’t book to stay more nights!! I hope to return to explore again one day. Thanks for the awesome weekend Ted!
We loved our stay at the Tower! The property is beautiful and there's a lot to explore. Theodore was a great host and made sure we had everything we needed. Recommend for a couple or individual looking for a peaceful getaway.
