The hosts were really great, the wellness center was gorgeous and it was amazing to spend a weekend out in nature. But it’s clear this is a new site that needs some tweaking to better the experience for the campers.
Although we had thought we reserved a certain spot, it really ended up being a first come first serve basis for who was able to choose their spot first. We were not able to park directly at our spot (it was a short 3 minute walk uphill to our site) which was fine but it should be made clear on the posting that most sites are “hike in” and may not be suitable for every if they have health and mobility issues.
There was only picnic tables at maybe 2 of the sites- the listing says picnic tables available so we assumed they would all have a table to prepare food on, eat, etc. Stefana ended up bringing us a table from their kitchen which was very, very nice. However the lack of tables should be accounted for on the listing so the campers are better able to prepare.
It said on the listing that firewood is provided- this is not accurate. Campers should still prepare by bringing their own firewood. There was plenty of sticks and kindling on the ground- but certainly no firewood available.
The campsites are spaced VERY close together. There is almost no privacy at all for most of the sites. The site we were at was split by the main walking path- so there was always people coming and going through our site which certainly isn’t ideal for COVID.
Lastly, there was only one portapotty for the whole space (8 campsites and up to 5 people at each site- that’s a lot of people trying to use one place for their morning bathroom routines!). The porta potty was about a 5 minute walk from the campsites. I’m always okay with doing my business in the woods- but there is no place to go without campers all around you.
This campsite has ALOT of potential- the listing just needs to be a bit more honest about the experience. Otherwise- the location is great, hosts are exceptionally nice and we had a great time looking at the horses.
Great welcoming stay!
We booked the day before and stefana quickly made arrangements and got in touch for directions and any help. Upon arrival they greeted us and showed us around the facilities. The campsite is well prepared with picnic tables, fireplaces and right on the trails to go hike. You’re greeted by horses also and you have them very close to you which makes it a calm experience. Overall they’re a great couple of owners and I would definitely be back!
Nothing short of an amazing experience. I camp often, and it’s rare to find a gem like this out of the blue. Not only will I be back but I would recommend this site to anyone interested in a great experience!
This was my first time camping so I was pretty nervous but I loved that we were somewhere “outdoorsy” but still a close drive to supermarkets (~10 minutes), tons of restaurants (less than 5 minutes, could even walk), and 30 minutes from the beach!
Stefana was a great host and really put me to ease! She’s so friendly and was able to provide a lot suggestions. She checked in but it wasn’t like too much lol! One thing to note is that you will be sharing the space with people (that are FAR away from your site but still there) - my friend and I actually loved this part because it gave us the opportunity to make friends and socialize!
The hiking path is easy and fun to do. We didn’t fish but we could have. I look forward to coming back! This site is far behind a spa place so next time I come I plan on doing something at the spa if I have the time.
Coffee with the horses
Stefana was a great host! They are just getting started with these campsites and they are great spots with fire pits at each site. There was no picnic table at our site (I think one or two had them), but there were plenty of flat spots to set up a grill or you could cook over the fire pit. Upon arrival Stefana and her partner showed us all of the available sites and we were able to choose. Some of the sites are close together, but we chose a site with a lot of privacy. It was directly across from the mini horses and in the early morning I could sit by the fire drinking coffee and watching two of the horses play and chase each other right in front of me. Stefana provided firewood free of charge and showed us the hemp field and her organic garden. There is a walking trail (The Bicentennial Trail) right on the property. We had to walk through the woods a bit to find the actual trail, but Stefana will point you in the right direction! That trail does a nice loop around a pond and by an old cemetery. Overall a wonderful visit and we will be back. Thanks Stefana!
We loved camping here! We chose to stay near the edge of the woods and were able to see the horses right outside of our tent in the morning. The other sites were also really awesome and were further into the trees, they were spread out really nicely and had a good amount of privacy. Our hosts were also really kind and accomodating making sure we had everything we needed. I would definitely stay here again.
