There is an open grassy area large enough to accommodate a couple tents plus a stone fire pit. Just steps away from your tent you will have your own private sandy beach. There are miles of hiking trails in the area and Haddam Meadows State Park is just a short stroll down the old CT Valley Rail Line. Launch your boat or jet ski at the Meadows and beach it at your camp for the night! 4wd vehicles may drive down to the site and park next to the river. Trailers will not fit down the path. Also, please know, the river can get very busy on weekends. Open header speed boats, jet skis and nigh time party cruisers... endless entertainment. Come check us out!

Such a great lil gem <3 Perfect location, easy find and access.
The host is simply amazing and sent me a lil diagram just in case :) I would highly recommend this location. Easy access to the road, stores, parks, restaurants etc.
I cant wait to return :)
Great for stargazing!
This is a beautiful spot! You certainly don’t feel like you’re in the middle of CT. Our host left us a very generous portion of firewood prior to us arriving. Very little pollution at night made using our telescope a blast! You hear a bit of road noise and the occasional boat or jet ski, but that’s about it. Our host checked in after we settled in to see if everything was going well which was nice. There’s a little market 1.5mi down the road making it easy to grab something you may have forgotten at home. Overall, this was a great & close to home, camping spot.
Unique camping on the ct river
Very cool little spot along the Connecticut River. Quiet for being near the road, and what seems to be a privately used railroad. If you're a woman and planning to "rough it" bathroom-wise, it's tricky to find secluded spots during the day, as the woods aren't super dense and there is regular boat traffic on the river, but this wouldn't keep me from staying here again. There is a really great general store down the road (literally a two-minute drive) that has a public restroom.
Peaceful and private with good view
Exactly as advertised -- there is a fairly private flat plot of grassy land and a little sandy beach on the banks of the CT River. The river has recreational boat traffic in good weather, but there are no houses or other sites visible from the bank of this site. The view faces hills and trees and lake. The road is near enough to hear but you can't see it and it can't see you through the trees.
The fire pit is great and has a metal grill. We got the extra firewood offered and they gave us more than we could have ever burnt! 😁 There were biting mosquitos at sunset, but otherwise the bugs weren't a bother.
The country market just a little up the road was great for food, water, and bathrooms.
Joseph was a great host. Provided some fire wood and kindling for the fire pit. Definitely can hear cars passing by and a handful of speedboats and jet skis cruising up and down the river but it wasn’t bothersome at all. Would camp here again.
