Exceeded my expectations!!
What a wonderful site! The woods are pristine, beautifully kept and manicured! Jill and Chris could not have been nicer! They looked after our every need!. Their woods have fantastic trails and little brooks meandering through it! Huge rock formations and pine forests! I would definitely come back here!
Peace and perfection
A warm and welcoming host greeted us at Headwaters Campsite. The property is clean and comfortable and we were surprised with a personal fire pit. Jillian offered good communication and very helpful with experiencing Stonington’s hiking, biking and fall foliage peeping. The evening forest sounds were balm for the soul and morning freshness very invigorating. I highly recommend Jillian and Chris’ Headwater @ Hipcamp
Great host, really great site
Perfect easy camping spot for our family. We threw the kids up in the treehouse and mom and dad slept below in our tent. The big fire pit was awesome and it was nice having the spigot nearby so we didn’t have to worry about leaving it roaring when we turned in for the night. It looks like they’re building a big platform into the hillside overlooking the valley (another site I’m guessing), so I’m hoping that’ll be done in time for us to sneak in one or two more overnights before the weather snaps.
Oh, and for anyone coming in the fall, I’d recommend walking to clyde’s - it was like 10 minutes and it’d take that long to walk from available parking up and down the street anyway.
The perfect getaway!
We just came back from an incredible camping getaway at Jillian & Chris (and their lovely puppy Gus!). Although new to the business, J&C were perfectly prepared with beautiful setting, ready-to-use firewood, recommendations for day hikes and restaurants and more. We absolutely loved it and can’t wait to visit again! Highly recommend
Clean, relaxed, beautiful
We had a wonderful time at Headwaters! Jillian, Chris, and Gus (their dog) were friendly and gracious hosts. They have a beautiful property and the tent sites are well spaced to ensure privacy. Gus in particular was a very attentive host - periodically checking in to make sure that we were comfortable :)
Best camp firewood ever! Jillian and Chris are simply amazing humans and sharing their gorgeous land with others is very generous of them.
We loved the simplicity of the setups. It was super easy, convenient and they were ready to answer any questions and make recommendations.
We will be back over and over again! THANK YOU GUYS ! XO
Drive past a farmhouse, through the backyard, past wood piles, and into the woods for several lovely and well-planned campsites. Sites 1-3 are each on small hillocks and come with new, large platforms overlooking the woods behind the house. There is a short but steep down & up hill (4x4 strongly recommended) to get to these sites, but the parking for non-4x4 vehicles is only a short walk. The other sites are visible as they are all 'hillock-top', but the individual hillocks make them still feel fairly private. The composting toilet in between them is brand new, odor-free, and - dare I say - delightful. Behind the campsites is a small and secluded trail that goes perhaps 1/3 mile through the woods. All managed by wonderful, friendly, helpful, laid-back hosts.
Only slight downside is that traffic from the nearby roads is audible; but I could also also plenty of birdsong (wild and domestic!). It is definitely in a 'neighborhood' of sorts, but one with very large tracts and acres of backyard forest at each home.
