I had such an amazing time at Mary and Victor's. It was incredible waking up to the horses only feet away and to the sound of the roosters. It was so relaxing and quiet and I enjoyed cooking over the fire and hanging out in the tiny house. I will be back and would recommend to others!

Victor and Mary were wonderful hosts! We absolutely enjoyed being around the animals and got to use both the cabin and the horse trailer. Their horses Cha Cha and Sunflower were very friendly and their dog Marley and my Husly got along very well! Definitely will go back.

I'm sad to say that the weather did NOT cooperate and we had to completely bail on this reservation. I really wish we had been able to stay though, it looks great and the hosts were really thoughtful throughout our "maybe check in a day late... Weather better or worse tomorrow" back and forth.
Honestly it probably would have been a great place to wait out a rainy trip if we hadnt been also arriving in the terrible weather.

We were greeted by the house dog Marley, and Victor met us at the fence. Our two dogs loved playing with Marley running around the large property, and were amazed by the chickens and horses. All of the animals are friendly and the horse came right up to me to say hello!

Victor gave us a tour of the property: the grazing fields, the second camping area for tents, charcoal grill, the marshes and the outhouse.

The hosts are very welcoming and accommodating, and even offer supplies when booking (ice, wood, eggs, etc.)

As we pulled up the the gate, we were greeted by a very enthusiastic Marley, barking, jumping and tail wagging. Victor met us at the fence just as Mary came walking down from the farther fields.
We were given a tour of the horse trailer bathroom, our campsite, the grazing fields, the second camping area for tents on site with the second horse trailer including a (hand-made by Victor) queen size bed frame, brick charcoal grill, the marshes beyond the last field, and finally, the outhouse. (I clocked the walk from the cabin to the outhouse as a two minute stroll.)
The cabin is truly tiny, but just enough room for myself and my 13 year old son and our essentials.
My son loved the bunk bed, and I opened the couch so it was flat to use as a bed. It’s a bit worn, and the metal between the two sides dug into my back, so I took the cushions off the two benches (located with the table under the bunk bed) and used them as part of my bed. We ate outside at the tables and chairs provided, and kept our supplies on the table inside, so the cushions weren’t missed. We purchased a block of ice (a Tupperware bowl of frozen water which lasted us all 3 days!) but still had to purchase bags of ice at the nearby gas station every day.
We also purchased firewood which we had a hard time burning as it was damp, but there is no shortage of kindling and larger sticks to be found on the property if you don’t mind foraging. There was also a large amount of fallen birch trees, and the bark of the birch, even when wet, can be used as an excellent fire-starter. We also found some small downed trees, which Victor was happy to cut for us; however, my son preferred to do it himself, so Victor lent us several axes. We cooked all of our meals at the campfire at the cabin, using some tools left behind my previous campers and those supplied by Mary and Victor.
We spent most of our time on the grounds, soaking in the quiet (besides the occasional car driving by with loud music, a bit of noise from the neighbor doing some upkeep on his house, and the distant sound of music Victor plays while he works). At night, we were charmed by the sounds of crickets and owls, and the stars glimmered above. Besides the back porch lights of Mary and Victor’s house and the porch lights of the houses to each side of the property through the trees, there was barely any light pollution when we turned off the cabin lights. Make sure to bring several lanterns; I would suggest headlamps as well - something we will bring next time!

Our first night we met Girasol and Cha-Cha, the farm horses. HOW SWEET! The two became a fixture of our stay there and would happily or passively accept patting and occasionally cleaning leaves out of their manes.
The next night my son tried to use a Jiffy-Pop, but it exploded and left corn everywhere to the delight of the rooster, hens and chicks the next day. What a trip it was to be reading by the campfire area surrounded by chickens! Either Mary or Victor were usually there to answer questions, or help out in any way. We had many a great conversation, and could not ask for better hosts!

My son, 5’ 1” showing the size of the cabin. The main house, chicken coops, horse stable and horse trailer are visible from the fence of the cabin’s site. The outhouse, about a two minute walk from the cabin through the horse grazing fields and a campsite.Spearmint flanks the cabin on two sides and is in large bunches around the property. I brought home a gallon ziplock baggie to dry!

Mary and Victor couldn’t have been more welcoming, kind, or generous. My girlfriend and I came for a night and had a wonderful time. We spent time with the two horses, their dog, and a scattering of chickens in between our trips to local restaurants, art galleries, and farmers market.

I highly recommend staying at least one night with these lovely people. However, they gave us complete space and privacy unless we asked otherwise, so it’s a win-win regardless of what you’re looking for.
