We had a wonderful time at Michael and Christine's!
You can tell when a host has actually spent time camping on their property and when they have offered up a Hipcamp as an after thought.
These guys have thought it though. I had to bring very little with us to be comfortable.
There is a great shower area with plenty of privacy. The outhouse situation was very clean and easy to access at night.
The camp site had plenty of lights that came on on their own so there was enough light to get around safely.
The tent is roomey and could even be divided with a sheet in the middle if you needed while still allowing 2 seperate doors. You can also zip up all the windows so it's pitch black inside if you prefer to sleep in.
The lake did attract a lot of people the weekend I was there. Kayakers and fishermen nothing loud but be aware if this is something that would bother you.
There were multiple small islands around the lake. Some accessible some not but it made for interesting boat explorations. A suprising lack of bugs during our stay which was great.
Hosts were wonderful and accommodating. They provided us water for washing ourselves and our dishes.
I brought my 5 yo and he was happy as a clam for 2 solid days playing the sand, swimning, fishing and learning how to paddle. He wants to come back with everyone we know. I haven't done a Hipcamp twice yet because I am always looking for the "next adventure" but this might just be the one that I come back to.
Camping with my wife and friends!!!
I’ve loved the place!!! We really had a lot of fun there, warm lake, you will have everything you need there. Easy to get there. Michael is very very helpful and always available for us and his wife too very nice people. Definitely coming back!!!
Michael and Christine were the most wonderful hosts. From BEFORE we arrived they showed over the top hospitality from sending very detailed videos and pictures about checking in and after arrival taking the time out of their day to come and introduce themselves and make sure we had everything. My nephew had an amazing time playing all of the games/activities and couldn't stop talking about how much fun he had.
Activities: 10/10. If you have small children they will be entertained from swimming, to baseball and so much more. For my adults out there, you will be entertained by the lake, boating, and the activities!
Tent: 11/10 sacious and very clean.
Lakefront space: Clean, and the boats, paddle board, and floaties really enhanced options of what to do.
Cooking/eating area: 12/10. First time we've been at a hipcamp that had such an outstanding cook station. The table is also nicely in the shade so you can eat peacefully.
Facilities (shower/toilet): 10/10 very cleaned and maintained.
Fire pit: Amazing and there are more than enough chairs to go around. Firewood was also kept nice and dry.
Hosts: 13/10. Amazing, kind, and the main reason we will be returning!
Thank you for an amazing stay! We will be back.
Very lovely, right on the lake camp spot. Hosts did a great job constructing a composting outhouse and solar bag shower with curtains. Cooking area had all the odds and ends and even cards and games. I didn't use their rent, but it's huge and has air mattress/cot.
I spent the time swimming in the lake and kayaking with their gear. Hosts are very communicative, kind, and their spot is an awesome and QUIET nook where you feel rather remote considering their aren't many houses along the lakeside.
I also threw some axes at their targets which was great. Highly recommended, especially for solo campers. This place is totally why I do hipcamp. Would camp here again!!
A wonderful getaway!
We had a great time at Michael’s land. The lake is beautiful, with small islands in the distance. It’s dreamy! You can access them all by paddle boat or kayak. There is everything you need at the campsite, including a large tent that can accommodate three people, composting toilet, a small stove, charcoal grill, fire pit, and basic cooking appliances. There was a great deal of kindness and thoughtfulness on the part of the owners. We highly recommend this place.
Gorgeous lakeside perfection!
It was an honor to be Michael and Christine's first guests at their Gorgeous Private Late site. Just as the title states their place is absolutely gorgeous and private. The lake is gorgeous and lots of fun. We brought our inflatable kayaks but having a row boat, kayak, paddle board and floats right on the site to use we never even took ours out of the car. Michael and Christine have thought of everything to make your camping, (definitely more like glamping) experience perfect. The tent was large and roomy and having it all set up made the decision to book even easier. The composting toilet close by the tent was so convenient! Their attention to detail is outstanding. Everything from the solar lights to the small cooking area and a ready stacked campfire was perfect. The site is right on the lake and a short walk to their house which they have outside activities including ax throwing, archery and corn hole. They are fantastic hosts and were easily reachable and fun people to get to know! We definitely will be back! If you are looking for a great lakeside camping experience you will not be disappointed! Thanks again Michael and Christine for such a awesome weekend!
