The Northwest corner of Connecticut is literally overflowing with lakes, mountains, hiking, villages, shopping, eating, caffeinating and movie-going, but where you'll stay is just five minutes and 100 acres away from it all.
Your Camping Platform:
About 150 yards from our main house but nestled in the woods, is a 20 X 14 camping oasis. This is for campers with all the gear. Pitch your tent/s on the deck or next to the deck and use the deck for congregating. We'll provide an outdoor hammock, a fire pit (wood can be purchased on site), and a picnic table with four benches.
Communal sunset fire-pit with spectacular views:
Every night we have guests, we’ll light our hand-welded repurposed oil tank fire-pit. Beverages will be made available. Feel free to chat with us, other guests or enjoy the cool breeze and spectacular sunsets.
Hiking trails:
We have 100 acres of deciduous forest to walk in, mountain bike on, and enjoy. Hiking trails throughout.
Outdoor shower:
Shower outdoors surrounded only by cedar. This shower is attached to the main house, so it's not secluded, but is appropriately private.

What a gorgeous property!! My husband and I absolutely loved our camping site - this was our first Hipcamp experience and we didn’t want to leave! Close to many hiking spots and waterfalls, and we loved looking up at the stars each night. The camping site is private with a nice large platform and lovely fire pit - the hammock was my favorite! Our puppy was in pure heaven and didn’t want to leave. Highly recommend, we can’t wait to come back!

Theodore and Sarah were absolutely amazing hosts. Super warm, friendly and informational. The camp ground was perfectly equipped and Theodore even helped us get some of our gear to the camp site. It ended up raining one of the nights and we had to transfer to the tower which is definitely on my list to visit again! The tower was amazing, clean and well maintained! They had 2 adorable dogs that roam off leash, meeting them was a treat as well. 10/10 recommend

Thanks Kristen. The tower is yours. Just let us know when you want it back.
Prepare for the greatest hosts of your life. The hipcamp plot was fantastic. Felt secluded and remote even though there were other plots on the property but far from site. Beautiful and in the woods.
You have a private fire pit and picnic area and then there’s a communal one with a stunning view. They were great hosts and super responsive and attentive and had great recommendations for hikes and waterfalls in the area. Will be going back

Come back. We miss you!
This was such an amazing space to camp! The site was beautiful with 100 acres of land - plenty of trails to explore plus great views as it sits on top of a ridge. Very pup friendly. The hosts were so welcoming and helpful, and we were nearby to so many great parks. Would absolutely go again and recommend it to everyone!

Thanks Tanya. Love to have you both up again. Brings friends. Including the furry ones!
Great host, super helpful and considerate! Camp site was great too - out in the woods, private, good view. Grill on site was a bonus! Huge platform, big enough for maybe 3-4 large tents.
I’d highly recommend!

Thanks Vish. You guys were great guests. Come again with the rest of your posse. Hope to see you soon!
Such a wonderful little slice of the world! Teds land is beautiful with hiking trails and views every which way. A wonderul host, he carted our gear to the camp site on his ATV. The site truly feels remote, and was dark enough to see some great stars and watch the ISS fly over. Plenty of firewood and a nice level tent deck. Woukd recommend to anyone!

“Far Away” could not have been better. The wooded grounds and trails were exactly the nature we wanted, the campsite was private and clean. Small town restaurants, coffee shops and bookstores to explore within 15 min drive. Hosts could not have been kinder or more generous.
Highly recommended!
Theodore was a great host. The camping spot has a nice platform and hammock for viewing the sunset. Nice fireplace. The outdoor shower is great - instant warm water. Loved the stay! Thanks
If Theodores place is an option, you should stop reading this review and book it immediately.
I stay for 1 night with my best friend from college and our 4 kids. We had the best time! The site was comfortable, the firewood was plentiful, the other guests were absolutely lovely- and an feeling of abundance and gratitude seems to percolate through it all.
This was my first experience with hip camp (and I was super apprehensive about spending such a high price on a spot to pitch my tent), and I was so very pleased. Theodore is a brilliant host- he was the favorite of the children especially! He zipped them around the forest on ATV rides and met their barrage of questions with kindness and ease.
The forested property is divine natural perfection!
We are already planning our return!
Thank you so much, Theodore!

Thanks Dorothy. Come see us again for family fun in the forest!
