Great night away!
This was a fantastic setup but I’m not sure I’d call it “glamping” - I guess it depends on your definition of glamping. More like camping but your stuff was set up for you. We loved it either way. The little fire pit, the kitchen setup, the nature. I read a review that said there was a short trail up but I would say that’s an understatement. It was a short trail VERY up. Steep. We carried our son (15mos) in his backpack and it was basically a 30 min uphill climb. Not bad on the way down, but still steep. Kevin greeted us and was very friendly and helpful. The communication was great. Oh, and I recommend bringing a good kitchen knower as that was the one missing thing we needed for our meals. We would definitely go back.
Great time and a unique experience.
Bill and his donkeys make an awesome camp spot all the more awesome. He's full of interesting local history and ranch is full of interesting can sweet critters. Can't wait to come again.
This was by far the coolest camp site I’ve ever stayed at. It’s isolated and private and the views are unmatched at night. William was a great host. He gave us a tour of his ranch, taught us about his livestock, and gave us some cool history of his property. The site itself was fully equipped with everything you could need. 10/10…highly recommend!!
Amazing place… great people.
I love this place … really confortable, if I said that you will have hot water in the shower, what do you think about the other things?…Outside the city but close… nice viewing. If you wanna escape one or two days from everything this is the place. Our host was Seth, respectful friendly helpful and a nice talker… we will back. You will have everything that you need. Clean space with a great location. My kid enjoyed the ride with the mule.
First time won’t be the last
It was my parents first time in Colorado so I decided to go above and beyond. That’s when I found this gem. Our host William was warm, welcoming and very knowledgeable about his animals. We got a tour of the land before we started our hike up to the glamping site. It was a little rough but 100% worth it. The views were breathtaking and the experience was wholesome. We are already looking into a return trip into the future.
My boyfriend and I had suffered a loss in the family a few days prior. Going up to Laughing Valley Ranch was much needed and appreciated. It was a beautiful area with the best staff and helped us clear our heads and mourn.
Unique camping experience
We had a blast this weekend. Spent the weekend with 3 young kids (9, 6, 4) and a dog at laughing valley. The walk to the campsite is fairly uphill but my youngest rode a burro making it much easier. William took our middle child up the mountain with our supplies in the Kawasaki. The campsite was amazing with great views. William was a great host and very accommodating. The site was well stocked with camp stove, plenty of water, firewood, and all kitchen supplies. There’s a shower though we didn’t use it. There’s plenty to do at the site, including a nature trail, 2 caves and even a small wall to boulder up. We also really enjoyed William’s tour of his working farm (burros, reindeer, goats, sheep, and more). I would definitely recommend Laughing Valley and would come back.
Our stay was absolutely amazing. The views are unmatched and almost everything you could need is at the campsite. It was such a fun experience taking the burros up to the site also. It is a pretty good hike up to the tent but it’s well worth the effort! We will definitely be coming back in the future and would recommend it to anyone who loves mountains and camping.
A once in a lifetime experience
This was our first Hipcamp experience and boy did it set the bar high. We were blown away by the views, by mountain man Bill’s hospitality, and the lovely camp site. We feel so lucky and are so grateful that Hipcamp introduced us to Bill and his beautiful property. He is truly a kind and genuine soul and the animals are awesome. Our VW Golf made it up and down the long driveway no prob, but if conditions were different (rainy/snowy), I could see it being difficult to ascend the steep/rocky driveway in our little car. We loaded our gear on the donkeys to take to the top of the mountain which was a hilarious experience for us. The trek to the top, which is not super easy y’all, was SO WORTH IT in the end. The views are unlike anything you’ll see camping anywhere else. I was sweating when I got to the top, BUT I was pulling a stubborn donkey the whole way (which was fun)! Truly, I can’t say enough positive things about this stay. It felt like a once in a lifetime experience and I fully recommend it. I’m so grateful that I spontaneously booked it, and I hope you do too!
