Robbin and Don are wonderful and responsive hosts that gave us our. The property is beautiful with trails to explore all around the property. Verizon cell service is pretty good, but varies a bit throughout the camp. Stayed a couple days and liked it so much we stayed a few more.

I wanted to head down Durango way for a last minute camping trip over the Labor Day Weekend. I was able to book Second Chance owned by Robbin and Don. Their communication was excellent and they met me when I arrived. Their place encompasses 65 acres between Durango and Cortez. You can tell they have worked hard on their property and there were sites tucked into the trees as well as one with a meadow view, which I chose. There is potable water available and they added a pristine hand built outhouse. They also built a shower enclosure with solar heated water. I enjoyed exploring the property as they have turned former game trails into hiking trails…. With signs. I enjoyed stargazing in the evenings and there is Puett Reservoir Wildlife Area just up the road from their place.

Very well maintained, rustic and private site. Beautiful views of the mountains and the trails were so great! We were lucky enough to have the whole camp to ourselves for 2 nights! The sunsets, the stars, nature, amazing!!! The hosts, Robin and Don, were very attentive and kept in communication with us. Very wonderful people who really care about their property and sharing it with like minded guests! The toilet and shower were very clean and beautifully engineered. It is so cool!!! Will definitely stay again when in the area! Thank you!

Very secluded and private. Gives you that “out there” feeling still close to town. Great views! Wash house and toilet worked fine, very convenient. Encountered a rattlesnake, but theres big piles of timberwood everywhere so I can see why, just watch your step!

Response from Robbin and Don, the Host, on August 21st, 2021

Sorry you experienced an unexpected encounter with our natural wildlife. We do provide firewood for our campers when burn bans are lifted. Our property is listed as rustic so wildlife encounters are to be expected.
