Beautiful, ~10,000 ft, isolated spot. Easy access from Denver and to Idaho Springs. Yes, 4-wheel drive is important. Our ’12 Forester automatic got us onto the property, and we opted not to attempt the few hundred yards to the site. Good hiking through mountain forest, with an aspen grove here and there And Dawn? Simply the best host ever. Kind, helpful, friendly, and then? Invisible. Great weekend.

The road up required a fairly serious 4x4 vehicle, and that was made known ahead of time. Our 144 wheel-base 4x4 Sprinter had no problems making the trek. We ended up at a beautiful overlook where we were able to watch the butterflies and hummingbirds flit around during the day, and witness spectacular sunsets in the evening. There was exploring to be done all over the hillside, given the mining history of the area. Dawn was a very gracious host, and as we chatted we discovered we share a passion for live music. This spot is fairly close to the city in distance, but worlds away in the feeling of isolation and ruggedness offered. Highly recommended!

Dawn's property is phenomenal, an absolute oasis of beauty and adventure. Our family enjoyed the perfect Father's Day weekend with whitewater river rsfting and a mines tour. Dawn went above and beyond to make us comfortable and assisting with local outings and tours. We cannot say enough great things about this adventure and hospitality. It definitely goes down as one of favorite camping trips EVER!!! We will be back. Please note: you must have four-wheel drive for access, but totally worth it.

Wonderful host wonderful location!
It was important to us to have cell signal as our jobs require it and there is a perfect spot that has great service if thats what you are looking for. A capable car is necessary for sure! I would absolutely stay here again!

Beautiful place, camping is far from residence and secluded. Very high up 9500+ft well sheltered from wind by trees and peaks. You need a high clearance 4WD vehicle to get here. Well worth the effort.
We enjoyed some great views and a peacefully quiet time with my wife and son. The hosts were very nice and gracious to help out if we had any issues. Definitely need a real 4x4 to get there but that was made clear. Really enjoyed our weekend!!

My two-year old and I were looking for a fun place to hike without people. The host met us with a mask on and was very pleasant and respectful of our Covid-19 concerns. We were their just for a day hike and had a great time. My son loved many old abandoned tractors, trucks, and etc on the property. The site has some serious hills so be ready to get in shape. We didn't see anyone else other than the owners. The views at the top are great and I had cell phone reception everywhere (google-fi is my cell provider).
