North Fork Tipi Haven & camping is in the North Fork Valley of the Gunnison River, at the base of Sunshine Mesa, along Love Gulch on Hwy 133.

The tipis are custom made by the Colorado Yurt Company in Montrose, Colorado where they have been making yurts, tents and tipis since 1976. The tipis are expertly designed and made with custom paintings invoking the animal spirits that inhabit our land. As you enter a tipi it is proper to walk in a clock-wise direction, to your left, and do not step over the wood poles. The Ute's held trees as sacred and after a night in the tipi you will understand why.

The Raven has a full IKEA foam mattress for your comfort and we ask that you bring your own bedding. We do have bedding available for $20 and if it is available we have 1 twin mattress for $20. We have solar lights but you may want to bring our flashlight, 2 private composting toilets, a camp kitchen with tables, chairs and a cook stove. We will also supply drinking water in the kitchen area. If people want them, we will build solar showers. In the meantime, showers are available at the local Ultra Mat in Hotchkiss, (next to Zack's BBQ with the best pie). We now have Solar showers on site.

Our goal is your comfort and to awaken your sense of wonder by sleeping out in nature. We want you to have a reasonable place to stay while you enjoy the North Fork Valley of the Gunnison River. You can visit the many wineries, fruit orchards, organic farms, farm-to-table restaurants, world class classical music at the Blue Sage, interesting movies at the community owned Paradise Theater, art at the Creamery in Hotchkiss, stand-up paddle boarding, WSSUP, at Crawford reservoir, mountain biking in Grand Mesa, hiking in the West Elks, rafting down the Gunnison river in the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park or relaxing in one of many hot springs within an hour of us.

Come and visit one of the last 'non-tourist' areas of Colorado and if you really must ...Aspen, Crested Butte (over Kebler Pass), Glenwood Springs, Gunnison, Grand Junction and Telluride all are about 1.3 hours away by car.  We highly recommend driving over Kebler Pass to Crested Butte for a day of exploring, and Orvis Hot Springs in Ridgeway Colorado.

Upon driving onto the property, I was shocked and pleased by the upkeep and overall uniqueness of the place. The hosts were knowledgeable about the area and super interesting people! They told us about farming and talked a bit about the spiritual influence of the place. Everything was so intentionally laid out and the calming energy of the place was so apparent. The common area for cooking had every utensil & pot you could ever need, and the hosts provided fresh water and coffee and tea for the morning. The camping was elevated by above ground decks and comfortable mattresses inside of large tipis. At night we could look up and see the stars through the hole in the ceiling and in the morning, we woke up to the most amazing view of Mount Gunnison. Overall I highly highly recommend this spot. It isn't just a place to camp, but its a whole experience of its own.

Plenty of space to cook dinner, make coffee, or just chill and listen to the creek.Tent is spacious and elevated on a wooden deck. Chairs & table to sit at and drink coffee in the morning.Toilet area hidden by trees.Lots of space between tipis for privacy.

From the drive across McClure Pass and into Paonia, there was magic in the air. Having the privilege to escape society for a few days and refuge with North Fork Tipi Haven was a dream beyond my imagination. The hosts were communicative and attentive without being intrusive, you can see that their property is well loved and cared for in every way. The tipis and accommodations were an absolute luxury for my family of four’s first real camping experience together. We slept like babies under the brilliant stars each night in the comfort of the expertly constructed tipis, then awoke to enjoy a wonderful breakfast in the well-appointed outdoor kitchen. Crawford Reservoir is a short 20 minutes away, where we found the swimming beach to be the perfect “icing on the cake” for our lovely weekend getaway. While I know this review is likely to garner new business for Tony and Karen (which they well deserve!), I am a little sad that it may not stay “our little secret” for long. It’s a sacrifice worth making, the world must know how wonderful their mountain oasis is!

Raven's Tipi was beautiful and just a cool place to stay. My two kids and I had a great time at this location. Best star-gazing ever, and the sunrise was magnificent! The shared kitchen area had everything I needed to prepare meals for my family with a cute table to eat in the shade. The creek was fun for my kids to explore, I wish we had more time to stay here. The host was kind and helpful. Such a great place.

these tipis are fresh, new, and lovely! the owners live on the property and have great plans for their land; we enjoyed meeting another family with kids and shared s'mores over the campfire. the tipi sits up on a new deck so the ground is flat, clean and very comfortable; there is a queen-sized foam mattress so you are truly 'glamping'. very eco-conscious hosts and we plan to stay there again!

The tipi was super spacious and very clean. The owners are very sweet, they even left us some extra towels (when it rained) and fresh picked peaches. It was also a great location close to all the wineries nearby.

We had a lot of fun and the tipi was spacey and comfortable. The only thing is that it started raining in the middle of night and I understood that hosts were supposed to "close" the tent for us. The inside got wet and we closed it ourselves. It dried quickly because it was warm. Another minor issue was that another guest got confused with what tipi was his and came to our tipi. We were asleep and we got a bit shaken.

These Tipis are awesome! Clean, spacious, and comfortable. We loved our stay and all the local produce, meat, and beverages available nearby. Great showers at the laundry and a cute coffee house (Coal Train) down the road.

We love it here! We came for a night last summer with our two young daughters and immediately thought that we wanted to come back with our friends! So, we brought two other families with us end it was perfect. Glamping at its best! The teepees are great, the land and views are beautiful, and it makes for a wonderful family vacation when the kids and the dogs and the parents I’ll get a run free :-)
